This your question is belittling to the Association of Physicists, but lets allow that to slide...lols. Physicist are very intelligent people, who tend to be book/street smart. You can work anywhere_ ranging from oil and gas, education, banking, IT etc. Physics is the bedrock of so many sciences. It's all about what you can offer dear. Don't limit yourself, so many entry level jobs don't bother about your course of study _ except if you really wanna venture into your 'field'. |

Jesus, man. Your degree consists of studying the foundations of all scientific and technical knowledge and you're wondering what you can do with that? I believe the correct answer is "Whatever you can imagine." If you're a good communicator and you manage to strike a balance between theoretical and experimental know-how, then you can basically go do whatever you want, regardless of whether that's finance, engineering, management, entrepreneurship, policy work, plumbing, teaching, design, programming, or anything else that might strike your fancy.---- Michael Woods, Caltech alum, Physicist, Entrepreneur The advice of I am going to give you is use some of the money you must saved from your NYSC programme, buy a computer or any reading device and stock it with e-books from physics to programming to history to motivational stuffs and start serious and deliberate studies. This singular attitude we keep you sane, while at the same time looking for jobs. It is time to begin rigorous and mind expanding activities like reading, writing, analytical thinking, coding, listening and effective communication which today's world needs. I can tell you that the only thing you have gained in your entire formal education is how to read and write and compute figures without critical thinking. The time of rote learning is over - so called cramming has ended. 1 Like |

I am a graduate of physics and i work in a university teaching physics. if you are truly a graduate of physics, I advice you should think about how to improve your skills in any of the following aspect of physics. 1 Electronics: you must have taken one or several courses in electronics, dust you books, improves yourself , if you need to learn skills from road side electronic repairer please do. Learn from professionals they will be willing to teach you circuit design can make you get richer than you think learn and apply your skills , the nation needs home made devices that suit our environment 2. Education: If you have passion for teaching then I advice you take your MSC in physics get a senior academics to groom you, I'm sure you will be happy you did at the end of the day. Energy : you must av taken some courses regarding various kinds of energy wind solar hydro fossils fuels nuclear, you can look at how to develop yourself and generate energy for small businesses for a competitive price I can only mention a few here my brother believe in yourself look inward you will find a solution yours truly 2 Likes 1 Share |

swaggprofessor:Bro, don't say what you don't know. I've seen Physics graduates in Nigeria doing well without MSc certificates. Don't make assumptions about all Physics graduates just because of your condition. My IT supervisor in Huawei graduated from Unilag with a Physics/Electronics degree and has over 6years experience in the Telco sector without an MSc degree. In fact, many Microwave engineers I know, have Physics background. Also in Nigeria, there are lots of Physics graduates in the O&G, IT and financial services sector. With Physics, the sky is the starting point! And who told you there are no research labs in Nigeria that employs Physics graduates? While doing my FYP project, I had problems analysing my ZnO thin films because Research labs were on strike. Almost went as far as Abj for XRD analysis. Don't say what you don't know! |

Though I am not a professional in that but I can do a perfect conduit wiring/installations, db mounting.. Etc... I am planning going the no 3 way so that I can do both 1 und 3 at the same time. How? Learning Autocad for interpretation of drawings. Ccna for networking.. Etc God help me though,.. |

MsNas: U have still not contributed anything meaningful or helpful to the poster. My advice to him was based on the premise that smart physicist excel in programming and good programmers are making it big in this side of town. 2 u that is short sightedness yet u can not mention 1 thing the poster can do. Have you read the poster's latest comment o. What he will rather do ? So if you can not point direction on forums like this, just keep quiet if you have nothing to say. |
