Case Study 3: Owere | Berlin

Similarities: Owere is a cultural centre, and a area for traditional entertainment and arts and other kind of entertainment. It's the centre of the area around. Like Berlin, Owere does not have a coast and is the main urban centre for the areas around.

Lessons to be learnt: General infrastructure. Handling tourism and leisure and capitalising on culture and the arts. Strengthening a unique image and become a destination for cerebral kinds. Education can also be emphasised. Keeping the skyline low and designing and maintaining suburban areas.

First, I am not from Eastern Nigeria but if I see something commendable, I must commend it.

Mr. Ezeagu you have done a great job on this thread. Your plans are great. My advice to you is to compile them and send them to the office of the president. A group of young northerners did exactly that and the President commended them and promised to "use" some of their ideologies. This is how nations are built. Please ignore those okrika selling illiterates making noise about biafra.

Thanks. We need foresight, I was actually hesitantly listening to these Biafra guys at first, then I saw there was no plan except for shouting down other parts of Nigeria and I was convinced this was not the way. Looking out for development is far more important than any show of ego.

Why are you ab0ki slave afraid of biafra? Is it by force to stay in one Nigeria with you? Nigeria is a zoo and you are a yereba baboon. Chukwu Abiama Okike will give us victory and the zoo must fall.

OP, may your days be long. This is what I have been saying. It's shame , as this thread has shown, that those clamoring for BIAFRA's disintegration have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to offer... Because they have nothing to lose.

I read the first few post from fools who think that their entourage would soon clamp down on this thread and disrupt the whole place with their usual Biafra chants.

My suggestion in a few weeks discussion sometime back is EXACTLY what you have done here.

But the fools who have no direction of sort didn't see anything good... How could they when they practically have NOTHING to offer?

BIAFRA BIAFRA... How can you build the biafra, they can't answer.

It leaves me shamefully wondering if IGBOS are arrogant lots? Who are these hydrA-headed babarians? I ask myself.

The Nnamdi Kanu has not in anyway sponsor a single brother in order to make them have a better taste of life, but he is about to use them to wreak havoc.

We have education of the head and of the heart, clearly, Nnamdi Kanu is not heartily educated.

I said why don't we build our home FIRST and turn it into the Japan or Dubai of the future. So that when we decide to the leave. The world will give us a NOD!

Of course we do not need a federal government to attain this. Everybody who dream of a better biafra has their quota to contribute. This isn't the civil war era... This 2015 and we should act out times intelligently.

Op how I wish it were someone like you and not this cancerous KANU that had resulted in Igbo's looking towards their region. One thing Nigeria and Igbos often overlook is its diaspora.

The diaspora is not just people to send money for school fees many of us have positions in the engine rooms of nations Nigeria wants to emulate. Many are privy to how these systems work and are maintained. There needs to be some bridging of ideas and resources. If we can think of state cooperation for mutual benefit that would be a start. I know Obiano is thinking this way and the rest of us have a vested interest in its success.

We have small scale industries that need to be supported and allowed to grow, for example look at the shoe makers and tailors or even those that replicate almost anything at Aba or Onitsha.....we need to be organising them and even developing trade schools and colleges so they can produce world class quality goods and the term 'Aba or Igbo made' will actually have a different connotation. Many times you hear of young talents creating thongs and you never hear of them again after it is no longer news. This should not be so. We should have organisations or crowd funding facilities for their talent to flourish and one day be responsible for breakthrough innovation in Igboland and Nigeria.

Politically I think the diaspora should be more involved by supporting progressive candidates and their grass root ideas. When I say diaspora I mean those that were either born and raised in the diaspora or spent formative years abroad.

I propose we come up with ideas we've had for development of eastern Nigeria on a macro level. I've seen bits of ideas floating around all over the politics section and I thought it would be wise if there's a central place people could chip in ideas. It's kind of tiring constantly fighting over politics, most of us wouldn't care much for politics if things were in place to development to occur or if Nigeria was moving in a right direction, so this should be a kind of shelter away from the usually extensive politics, although you can feel free to add political adivse and so on, but it should be for the concern of welfare and development, not merely seeking and office or an "Igbo president".

These ideas would be for infrastructure, transportation, heath, industry, education and so on. This is meant to be for ideas that can ideally be made, they don't have to be feasible now, they can be part of a wider/extended plan, so if you're talking about a tunnel to Bonny Island you're welcome. You never know who is reading or who has power to put things in place.

I encourage photos for case studies, but if you can provide mock ups or sketches or diagrams of your ideas/ideas for eastern Nigeria you've seen that would be perfect. Please if you're a female, we need you to contribute as well, usually you're not in these discussions.

Please if you have no ideas, do not comment.

The struggle for Biafra and a prosperous Igboland in Nigeria must go hand in hand

None is superior to the other.

To your question

We need to fill in the missing gap in our educational system

What is that missing gap

Basic Engineering-Technology whose content centres basically on two things which are

1) How things work

2) How things are produced

Economic/Social/Political Prosperity is partially tied to Scientific Engineering and Technological level of development. cool

I've always been uneasy about coastal protection in the coastal areas. Levee and other forms of protection from the sea should be in place since rising sea levels suggest that Bayelsa is in greatest danger of being taken by the sea.

I just had to respond to your post because there is a certain notion you have about those of us clamoring for the restoration of Biafra, that i need to correct. You made very valid points about the sort of development you want in the East and i totally agree with you on that. The thing is that most times we fail to understand that there is no difference between using the term Eastern region or the name Biafra. So understand that you that wants the development of the Eastern region and those clamoring for the restoration of Biafra, as well as the concurrent development of the Eastern region are working toward the exact same thing. Below are just three of the many reasons why i think that the development of the East and the restoration of Biafra go hand in hand:
1. The present structure of nigeria, whereby the hausas and the yorubas at the federal government level, determine what infrastructures can or cannot be built in the Eastern region, is a very faulty one. A case in point is the uproar that resulted due to the upgrading of Enugu Airport to international status. The yorubas and hausas would not hear of it 'cause they know that having any viable international airport in the East is tantamount to the East having a booming economy which will take away a lot of the economic advantage they have over us.
Also, i am sure you know of the controversies surrounding the establishment of Ibaka Seaport yet the yorubas are busy constructing a third port in Lagos.
Now if we had our own country Biafra, we would have been able to develop several ports in the eastern region including the river Niger port and the obuaku port in Aba, without having to deal with undue interference from people, who will employ every means to scuttle such ideas from the onset. Ask yourself why the former Eastern region was out performing the rest of nigeria when we had regional autonomy? The setback we have in the East is this evil unitary system of government we are practicing in a diverse country like nigeria, which has greatly stifled our growth as a people.
2. Another reason why i am desperate for the restoration of Biafra, is so that we can deal with this menace of bad and corrupt leadership, which has befallen us. You see, as a result of this same faulty structure of nigeria, most of the leaders we have in the East are just there to please their hausa/fulani masters for a few crumbs of the national cake, while ignoring the welfare of the people they were elected to lead. They do not mind keeping the East impoverished as long as they please their masters. Leaders like Chime, Obiano and Akpabio are just one in a million and there is still a limit to what they could have or can achieve, in this faulty nigerian structure.
But in Biafra, our leaders would be forced to become more proactive and think up ways by which they can generate income for the development of their constituents, instead of waiting to share the national cake, as they are doing presently.
3. Do you also know that nigeria is responsible for the seeming notion of disunity among us. This is because the Igbo man has found himself in a situation whereby it is all man for himself just to survive. An Igbo man now, will not think twice about betraying his people so he can keep getting favors from Abuja.
So my dear, as long as nigeria continues operating the way it is right now, with someone in Abuja calling the shots in the region of someone in faraway East, we cannot achieve the kind of development we so much crave. Also, the call for Biafra is not just about secession from nigeria but also to bring it into the consciousness of our people that we have a home, and nigeria is not and can never be our home.

My dear, i so much value this thread because i am very passionate about bringing in world class development to the East. But i beg you, do not speak against Biafra in this regard because most of the ideas you have proposed here, can only be achieved if we gain our autonomy from nigeria. Also, do not be put off by the rudeness of some uncouth Biafrans on this or any other forum because at the end of the day, a great Biafra will benefit each and every one of us.
I will later make my contribution to this thread when i have time, in the area of Igbo language studies and it's importance in developing a modern Igbo society.

I haven't even read where you made a tangible forward thinking contribution to this thread like an educated fellow... But when you saw where to flex muscles, you came out of your hidding.

Fool I have no business with you... Except you logically, reasonably and humanly table your facts and reasons, you are just an agbero like the normal agbero at lagos parks and busstop or any other agbero located anywhere in Nigeria.

If Nnamdi Kanu care so much about his people, he should FIRST develop their lives,.. Or is the Federal Government stopping him from giving scholarhsips? Is the federal government stopping him from building hospitals for his people etc? Someone has to show me has something offer me before I follow him or her.

Technically, I will choose the OP and other notable contributors to this thread over any silly Nnamdi Kanu any day any time.

Ask yourself, is Nnamdi Kanu willing to play the role Nelson Mandela? Can he make the sacrifice like Mandela? Sorry I have to compare him because logically, that is the role he seems to have adopted, but I see no similarity between them as Mandela is by far ahead of Nnamdi.

I am not against disintegration... All I am saying is that there are better and smart ways to get things done.

Dude, I grew up in a home where I am the most quiet among my siblings and after the demise of my mother, I have proven to be the most smartest among them all... Academically, I stand in a place where they know they can't match me.

I carry out my plans silently without noise and I stand by that ideology in life.

I accept your stance wholly... Except you have explain to me why nothing is stopping Lagos port project but stopping the one in South East?

Doesn't that explain anything to you? Doesn't that tell you that we have NO ONE at highest level to co-ordinate the affairs of the south? Doesn't that explain that we have missed something?

Who can we look up to in the East as the man to spare head our affairs?

In the west, they have Tinubu, Obansanjo, et al. In the NORTH, they have IBB, Abdusalam, Dangote...

Who are the figures we have. Ones that command National respect? I have not seen any. So we are like sheeps without sherpard.

To tag along with what you have mentioned, the region needs to impose a "diaspora tax" that will directly transmit funds towards capital projects. This will be a huge source of government revenue, if this scheme is executed properly.

Nigerian emigrants remit one of the highest aggregate of funds to Nigeria....out of all of the countries with a significant number of citizens in the diaspora, we are one of the top 10.

Igbos are a significant chunk of this.

When I say diaspora I mean those that were either born and raised in the diaspora or spent formative years abroad.

ehem... I thought they said Diasporans are heavily backing the goat called Nnamdi Kanu? Lol... Some people have been fooled.

I will suggest that the agbero be removed and someone in the likelyhood of the OP be made to take over... Otherwise, we will suffer the consequences of 100 of decades should there be another mistake.

Case Study 4: Aba | Munich

Similarities: Munich has the strongest economy of any German city, Aba arguably has the strongest economy of any city in eastern Nigeria, it's only rival for that title would be Onitsha. Many manufacturing industries in the cities. Their populations are large relative to the surrounding areas. Potential to capitalise on local culture.

Lessons to be learnt: Securing investment. Transportation and connectivity, how to keep the roads maintained and links to high speed rail, airports and the like. Dealing with large diverse populations, and heavy amount of visitors. Waste management and management of other amenities.

I had rather talk of the development of Republic of Igbo land than eastern region. The case of eastern region could alienate the Igbo people in places that were not eastern region as it was known to us. A good discussion could be entertained about a nation which could include all Igbo land, defunct eastern region and Urhobo.

Anybody who thinks Biafra is a dream should go back to south-west

Political power is key to have any meaningful development

The zoo as is currently structured will never develop in the next 200 years

You will simply have a polka dot of white elephant projects here and there with no co-ordinated policy on sustainable development and research.

For the east to develop truly to its potential and speed, we must also fight for freedom at the same time to leave this zoo.

Otherwise, you will make beautiful plans , wonderful ideas and the rest of the baboons and monkeys of the zoo will simply help you to destroy them

Or you will make beautiful plans but you will find that you simply have no political power or platform to implement them.

horse before the cart bro

horse before the cart

I repeat that to join Biafra is not by force, we cannot create another zoo by forcing people and say we are building a new country

There will be a referendum, any Biafran ethnic nationalities will vote for their freedom and if they do not want to be part of it, they can remain baboons and monkeys in the zoo.

Anybody who thinks because he paid =N=500 million for a plot of sand on swamp in ikoyi or bought a portion of the desert in Maitama that he will not join Biafra can remain in the zoo. You my friend cannot speak with two sides of your mouth

choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” - Joshua (24:15)

Good job Ezeagu. Looking at these pics of foreign cities, I'd like to say that the main difference between us and them is that they've imbibed a culture that says ''we cannot have dust and sand on our roads. We cannot have open drains on our roads. We cannot have roads without pedestrian sidewalks''. Until we imbibe that same culture, we will always look more backward than we should.

Yes, and they are confident being them, they emphasise having a unique signature look, they preserve culture and promote traditional architecture.

depends on how those raised or born in diaspora think or are raised..not the like of Liverpool ibe that insists the pronunciation is IYB..meaning he has no regard about where he is from..i actually prefer those raised in Nigeria or preferably east and travelled out to become professional as those have inclination to where they are from

To be honest someone that spent most of their formative years in Nigeria only really know the way it has always been done which quite frankly is regressive. I'm talking about Igbo's born and raised abroad that obviously have an inclination towards Nigeria and know how other systems work the way they do. There is no point asking people who have never really been part of a progressive culture to replicate those systems. They only end up introducing the Nigerian factor into anything they do. The culture in terms of actually being part of a system is different.

How can they reproduce what they don't know?

As I stated previously I'm talking about people born and raised abroad as the definition of diasporan here. We have a different viewpoint and will never support that fool kanu.
