Hello Nlers, please I need only matured inputs here. I have an engaged friend in Nigeria whose Fiancee's family (family of the guy) is standing in strong opposition to her marrying their son. I have inquired, the only reason I get is that the girl is a bank marketer. Please forgive my ignorance bc I am lost and have not been to Naija for a while. I have tried Google but couldn't get answers.

1. What do Nigerians have against female bank marketers; isn't it a career like others?
2. Apart from rumors any real stories or claims to support this beliefs?
3. How many guys here can date or marry a female bank marketer?

Honestly, I am just lost. This sounds like a dream job where I am based, so I can't understand the family's strong opposition. Abeg can someone educate me?

Rumours don't come out of the blues. In every rumour, there is an iota of truth.

Knowing the pressures Nigerian banks put on their sales staff, a lot of them go to the extreme to meet target. I have met female sales staff who thought seduction can get me on her account list.

While some of the females go to the extreme in meeting their targets by offering free sexual service in exchange for deposits, their male counterpart have their own immoral tactics to achieve same goal. However, the females are widely publicised because of the nature of their scheme.

This doesn't mean that every female marketer exchange sex for deposits only that the few doing it already stained the whole pack.

Is it right to base marital judgement on this? No and Yes.

No, if the lady involved doesn't have an history of such affair. Yes if she has the history of offering body for deposit. Nevertheless, the sole decision should rest on the guy not his family.

This is one of the things ladies should check out for. Can the guy stand on his "good" decision despite pressures from family members.

I hope your engaged friend has a clean history. There is possibility she already patronised the frontliner against her in the past.

The news about them is that they sometimes engage in too much fucckery just for d contract and they mostly don't have enough time for their kids...but anyway it depends on the lady involved and how much ur friend loves her

There is so much more to marriage than you can ever understand unless you have spent some years in it. Especially in an African marriage where family is still held in high esteem. Also the Impact of a divorce on the spouses and kid's is terrible. Marriage comes with allot of joy but also with pain. The parents are aware of this and want to avoid their son making a wrong choice. However the girl should be judged by all her qualities and not her job. Sometimes a LovePeddler can make a better wife than a Virgin. It might have been circumstances that led her to have to take the job. It is also circumstances that make women compromise their bodies . As long as the man can deal with her past if the woman has good qualities and he loves her let him go ahead. But parents hardly change their opinion for the better. She would be on scrutiny throughout the marriage.

Very true! But perception can be very damaging. That's why I want to know what gave the job this type of notoriety in Nigeria. marketing job is a very lucrative job elsewhere.

Two things, either they are afraid she might sell her body just to meet targets....

Or she might ignore her husband and family all in the name of pursuing her career and forget her wify duties...

Kudos to the guy parents, securing their child future and family reputation...and also guiding their son interests

The guy should kindly look for another lady, should I be his dad, there won't be any marriage

Hmmmm! but you did not give any real proof why u will take such a stand as a father. That's what I am eager to hear. Does anyone have a real story to back up these fears about female bank marketers or it's just perception?

After the general elections various newspapers report thousands of bank marketers that throws their bodies to the newly elected members of assembly just for them to have accounts with their bank,in reality there isn't any video evidence, even if there should be,you won't use that to generalise would you...

home video aka nollywood and some bad eggs in the bankingnindustry. The same notoriety police has with 20naira and male lecturers and exchanging sex with students for marks. It's the bad eggs in each career path that gives the decent ones a bad name

that's the same way they generalized about actresses and entertainers being glorified prostitutes because some bad eggs are prostitutes

I'm also curious as to why banks in Nigeria employ more female (beautiful young ladies) to their male counterparts in the marketing department...there must be a reason for such. shocked

But that's how everybody including pastors say 'Osu' cast system has been abolished in Ibo land and no one should pay attention to it, yet behind closed doors, the same people who say that won't allow their son's to marry one. As a woman you don't know these type of things affect one's psychology and well-being knowing you don't have a level playing ground with everybody else. We can't just over-look it.

While it seems a generalization, Nigerian bank marketers (male & female) are very likely to be 'tempted' to deposit their bodies/soul for 'full' salaries and mouth watering commissions.

Let's not forget unachievable targets they are expected to meeting like their relatives have a money spinning machine in their backyard.

Is your friend willing to switch to another aspect of banking or move to another industry If she is passionate about sales? Not necessarily for her fiance although He is a factor here

And I would not let any of my children be bank marketers If I had my way.

Jamb question. But on a more serious note,it's obviously due to the fact that most female marketers have used their punnanies in making Zenith bank,GTB,Access bank and the likes,to become the big strong banks that they are today, via the furcke for account package they offer most high networth clients.

Rumor has it that they market their body as well in order to meet the Target. *I don't know how true*. It actually wrong to generalize because not all of them are like that. There are still good ones, those that know the value of their body, those that actually know that Bank job isn't a do or die thingy! If I were to be a guy, her been a Bank marketer won't stop me from getting married to her!
