I'm not sure what the cut off mark is but they won't accept you if you are 34 weeks and above. They regard your pregnancy as high risk especially if: 1. You don't have a sonogram report done before 20 weeks or I think sometime during your first trimester. 3. Your doctor's report from Nigeria isn't comprehensive enough for them/does not contain certain information they need to ascertain your current status. 1. Before you get here, contact your prospective doctor(s), send them your records. 2. Be clear on the information they require. There are certain tests and sonograms they expect to be done at certain stages in your pregnancy and your Nigerian hospital may do things differently. So try talk to your Nigerian doctor about what you need done to find a middle ground ![/quote] Thanks a lot Therese.i crammed this page cos I just knew I was going to come back to it.I started my ante-natal at 6wks in a hospital at Gra Ikeja.at exactly 24wks,the hospital changed location and lost my file in the process! To say I am upset is putting it mildly. Now I have a doctor who's requested for my medical records so far(now 28wks) and I have nothing to send!!! The Lagos doctor has said my "investigation reports could be retrieved and my history summarized" .whatever that means. Pls could you or anyone in the house help with what exactly I should tell him my records at 29eks should include? I'm heading to Denton Dallas and using Texas Presbyterian. Thanks all. Cc Olokings |

aolatunde00: What's most important is an early sonogram report alongside other sonogram reports. The earliest one you did. And then he can give you a summary of your antenatal reports and then your tests results. They want to know if you are having mutiples or a singleton, if the there was any complications, your medical history, family medical history, stuff you compalined about during your checks etc etc. You may also want to contact your doctor in Dallas and ask what exactly he would like to see in the summary so you can come prepared. 3 Likes |

Hi everyone, Have been a silent reader for a long while. Tot I should give back to the thread. I arrived Houston via Atlanta first wik of June at 34wiks with my husband. POE was smooth as the officer didn't even notice I was pregnant. He was busy jisting with my husband and stamped us in for 6 months. I had to tell him I was pregnant and he asked me to step back so he could take a look at me and asked dat we take care of the baby and pay our bills. I had my baby at oakbend at 40wiks and 6 days. The experience was awesome. Was discharged 24hrs after delivery as baby and I were doing great. Feel into labour on my own and it was discovered dat the baby was in a posterior position during labour. Opted for a CS and my doctor advised that a VD was still possible. Active labour started at 10pm on a Tuesday and my LO came on Thursday at 3.28pm with a birth weight of 3.73kg. She said that the contractions were needed for the baby to turn before dialation would progress. I was at 3cm for over 24hrs. I give God the glory as baby and I came out alive and well. For those who are rhesus negative, ensure u get the rhogam shot as its part of your bill. My bills as follows Doctor - $1900 Tests - $120 Hospital - $2300 Labour epidural - $900 Pediatrician - $335 Brown and associate - $155 (for mother and baby) This is what I spent on the birthing. For the pediatrician visit, I used pediatric centre and paid $108. Also got a copy of my zero balances before leaving and travelled with my baby at 2wiks and 3days. I had an awesome host who has become good friends to my husband and I. Feel free to ask me questions as i am willing to assist in anyway I can. 20 Likes 1 Share |

ozycy: I did a scan but the fee was included in the doctors fee for $1900. I went with all the test I did in Nigeria and all was accepted. Did additional 4 tests which cost $120 for all. I didn't pay anything for first appointment. All I paid the doctor was $1900 for VD. I registered with my doctor at 34 wiks and 5 days. 2 Likes |

Getting baby's documents in 2 weeks is Very possible. I got naija passport same day in NY without paying expedited... Got there at 12noon and got the passport by 3pm... And if you use the US passport agency for the US passport you can get your passport same day or within a week. I however opted for the post office expedited and wld get mine in 2 weeks as I'm in no rush. |
