thank you sis,its always preferable to solve issues in a diplomatic manner,perhaps they see it as insult thats why they are arguing, but its not, thats just the name for such babies,if you dont want your baby to be called bastard, help them and wait untill you marry before you born them.

I don't think the Op is being discriminative, child(ren) born with unwed parents are being qualify with the adjective "bastard" of which I don't think there is another adjective to describe that ( I stand to be corrected).... Back to the topic, I don't see anything wrong or special in such children

Nigerians can be funny. I think its because we've embraced the term 'baby mama' we have failed to recognise the definition of a child born outside wedlock. And maybe because 'bastard' is our stable abusive word, we now see the word as an insult.

That said, Op thats your own opinion. Its because the woman is always the one that keeps the evidence of the mistake. . Afterall she did not impregnate herself. If you really want to be objective, then you should ask both genders if they can marry people with illegitimate children.
