Wen I was in my finals, one of my lecturers ask us to write about the myths and legends of our town and how our village names came about. I am proudly from Anioma, frm ika north.it was during this term work that I traced our heritage. We,Aniomas are not Ibos.Aniomas are from Benin origin.

babe maybe your parents migrated from Edo to anioma. I know several anioma people and even igbanke people that are proudly Igbo.

This is not about looks.....imaginary misery etc.......but about iboes claiming anioma is part of them......when we know they are Benin....Ikas.....kwale......urhobo........itsekiri...etc......these are not iboes..... cheesy

FYI, this is a free world in which you are entitled to freedom of association. Yorubas are free to merge themselves with Bini, Urhobo, Itsekiri and any other interested ethnic group.

Yorubas should leave Igbos out of their misery!

Yorubas are born liars and propagandists, who are programmed to hate by default. They are capable of criticising and lying about everything, even their tribal-marked, tiger-like horrid faces.

Just let sleeping dogs lie.
Not all Aniomas are ibos.
Period!

This is a free world in which you are entitled to freedom of association. You are free to claim whatever but leave Igbos out of it!

Another story. I've been called fake igbo before and anyone that knows me, including on this site, is very much aware how proud igbo I am. Even emeka esogbue was turned exactly what you just described because of the constant reference to "fake igbo". Prior to getting all butt hurt about it and displaying low self esteem, he was a proud SS igbo. The people that turned him against that were infact SE igbo. We've told una to stop with that "fake igbo", "real igbo" rubbish but una no dey listen. At least ohaneze and other igbo main groups are listening hence the reason i don't care about what some random SE igbos call me or any other anioma. I've learned how to deal with una when you ppl start you call me fake, I call you fake and we will both be fake igbo. End of story. I don't take it to the heart like Emeka did.
I wish I can get you a bottle of beer now..
We're all Igbos.. whether SS or SE,that's why if you look at my siggy I've started canvassing for Anioma as the 6th state in the SE.
Any SE Igbo that calls you fake..call him back.if he insist, tell him to speak his dialect while you speak yours let people around judge who's fake

We simply don't like the yorubas and Hausa-Fulani too...we don't want this nigeria. ...it would a favor, if your loving yorubas and Hausa-Fulani can stay in their own country, while igbos have their own. Country. ..
i noticed that ALL these rhetorics are more audible after the presidential and lagos gubernatorial elections loses. Igbos made a Jack ass of themselves during the elections and they are all feeling the consequence now. Imagine these Bastards making lagoon T-shirts taunting our Oba (we all know what happened afterwards). These Spanner - heads were even asking for their new yam festival to be celebrated like our Eyo festival? ?.Even they asked for deputy Governor of Lagos position (We all know what happened afterwards ).The made fools of themselves. ...as usual. Igbos have been nuisances since 1600.

Aniomas speak the Igbo language and are Igbos. South south is only a geo political region.

I have reading Nairaland topics since 2014 as a "guest" and i just decided to join fully as a member.(i love barcanista posts)

I am from Ogwashi-Uku, in Aniocha South LGA, Delta State.
One of the key things that I want to contribute is Anioma and the Igbo question.
How can a reasonable person say that We are Not Igbos? I noticed some "outsiders" making these Blasphemous statement. What a Funny World.
ANIOMAS is part of the IGBO Nation and We are Proudly IGBOS with the Onitcha people as our ancestral brothers.
The past President of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo is our Son, why will anyone question our Igboness? Our Governor from Ika is Ifeanyi by name and wears a Red Igbo Cap always, We have an Eze. We speak Igbo language most of the time and we eat Igbo foods because We are Igbos.
Lets throw away Tribalism and Love ourselves.. Lets channel all the hate I have read here into something Productive.

Bros do not worry because Ndiigbo know the goons who are behind such inherent idiocy that people from Anioma are not Igbo.

If we (Aniomas) are not Igbos but descended from Benin kingdom like you claim, how come we don't understand the Bini language but can clearly understand the language spoken by our brothers and sisters east of the river Niger?
Does it mean our ancestors abandoned the Benin language, culture and customs after migrating , formulated their own language ,culture and traditions that spread towards the east of the River Niger?
Do you also think our ancestors from the Benin kingdom met some Igbos already settled in present day Anioma and decided to adopt their culture while abandoning their heritage from the Benin Kingdom?
Personally I believe in the reverse migration theory of our ancestors who were originally from East of the River Niger, migrated towards Benin kingdom lived there for some years but left the Benin Kingdom after disputes with the Benin Kingdom.
Until the "Dead Sea scrolls" of the Aniomas are found, it defies logic to say we are not Igbos but from the Benin Kingdom when we do not share same language, customs or traditions.

i get your point, bro are you in support of our Anioma state and which geo political zone will you want it to be?

The chairman of the lecture, Obi Edozien, re-emphasised this point: “We Igbo people are one. We must stop fighting over irrelevancies and emphasise the essential.”

Given this situation, there has been an increasing shift of paradigm. Many Igbo groups, especially in Delta state, have decided no longer to play the masquerade. The Obi of Asaba, Professor Edozien, actually laid out conditions he believes will cement Igbo unity permanently.

Obi Edozien then called on the people of the South-East zone to support the creation of Anioma state and another for Igbo-speaking people of Rivers state to make for seven states, all of which will be lumped together in one zone or region.
