So it happened that a month ago, i met with an estate agent in search of a 2 bed room flat with tiles and running water system, so he took me to one apartments like that, that best described what I stated, I run the tap, water came out, there was light, and with titles, so i paid the following week, which is too exorbitant if i may say, but the love for the property made me over look the high rent placed on the property, so I moved in the following week, to my surprise after my 3 weeks stay in the property, i notice the water was not running anymore, so i decided to ask my neighbours, when they gave me the shock of my life when they said water has never run in the building since a years now, and no well also, I told them water was running few days i packed in, so the neighbors narrated that they saw those estate agent fetching water into the storage system, the day before I came to the said property. So they tricked me by fetching two buckets of water into the tank which made me think water was running in the building, so i picked my phone to put a call tru to them, after lodging the complain they said they were sorry I should endure imagine that,


Pls house what legal step can I take on this issue?

Some Nigerian have accepted that they're headed to hell so they just want to do as many bad things as possible.

I'm not sure what to do at this point but you've been had and hard too.

Do you know where to get the agent? Does he have an office? If you know a tangible location where you can get him just send me a mail I with introduce you to my lawyer. I just sent someone to kirikiri 2 weeks ago for a scam 14 months ago.

This type of story pains me deeply.

One of your easiest options is to buy water into the reservoir every 3 weeks or 1 month.
The money you will pay the lawyer will be enough to buy water for the whole 1 year.
After 1 year, use extra 3 months as prescribed by the law for FREE, then jejely pack out..
Fighting agents is tiring. You sound like a gentle guy so just no find trouble o..

get a lawyer and sue the agent for your full rent. its call misrepresentation or fraud. or better still arrest them for 419 and get an undertaken. you might walk away with 6 months rent free.

Try to get hold of them to put a borehole in the compound, are you the only tenant in the compound? Or there are other tenants in other flats, if there is water in the yard and is only your flat that is without water you can try get a water pump that can take water to your reservoir which won't break the bank and make sure you keep account and record of how much it cost you to bring water to the flat so that when renewing your tenancy you can remove your expenses whence fort. Don't waste your time going in to law court because of water in the end court will tell him to provide water for you which you and him should have settled.

Maybe. I had a similar experience with an agent whom I eventually charged to court but he employed the services of 'oro' cult in the community to send us away. We were given just 2 days to move our things out of the apartment. Remember, these people have connections with the police and hoodlums in that community. It's good to stay out of trouble, life goes on. I now live in my own house.

People like you will settle this matter out of court I presume. That's how a stranger drums for war when he or she is not involved at the expense of another.

Is like you have comprehension problem according to OP there was water in the flat when he rented the house but it later stop, however his now neighbours told him that they saw the agents fetching water to the flat water tank, if he proceed to court he will never deny the fact that there was water by the time of viewing the flat. The judge will dismiss the matter and tell the land lord to go and put water in the apartment it's as simple as that this is not fraud at all the agent didn't dupe him at all, in fact is a civil matter. I'm from law bagground.

But me when I send someone to court for fraud I dont give him the luxury of coming from his house o! He will be coming from Kirikiri or ikoyi prisons in a prison van. Unless he was able to meet the initial bail conditions which is very unlikely this period Nigeria is on financial stand still. He may be able sha but maybe not.

The oro idea may be too difficult to organise from behind bars.
