I feel that direct comparisons with other ethnic nations are distasteful, but I see nothing wrong with one bragging about his tribe's achievements. If you feel intimidated, state your tribe's own or be challenged towards achieving more for your tribe. Our sense of belonging and patriotism does not lay with the geographical impression - Nigeria, but with our ethnic groups. We should come to terms with this. 2 Likes |

mekaboy:Your thread would have been a hit with me but what I've noticed with Igbos who tend to follow the path of sanity is that they think everything is black and white. While I often get irritated by the constant bickering on Nairaland especially by my Igbo folks, I often cut them a slack cos I know where they are coming from. I understand the anger. Now, the advise is not misplaced except for the fact that you feel the need to run down the Biafran movement without realizing that it is the right of any individual or group to seek self determination. It's not a crime. It was and is still being done in Scotland and Catalonia. Just like you, I'm not a fan of Biafra as I believe that Igbos can become their very best in Nigeria. Not because I think Biafra is not workable or will become like South Sudan but because it is my choice. Other people know the reason they clamour for Biafra day in day out. The only way is for to make them see reason as opposed to running them down and everything they believe in just so that their antagonist will praise you and say things "Its because of Igbos like you that I want Buhari to give the South East the same opportunities as the SS". 2 Likes |

mekaboy: My brother, thanks for your post, it shows igbos are very sensible and intelligent people. I love igbos, my wife is pure igbo, my best friend and partner is pure igbo and they do not hold such hatred for Yorubas and other tribes as insinuated by Kanu and his juvenile and illiterate crowd. The Igbos (and other tribes) need to change their value system and orientation. They need to develop love for each other. There is no love even within families, not to talk of clan or sub tribes. All these talk about igbos loving each other is false. Most igbo families i know are not united. Rich family members often do not help less privileged members. Fortunate brothers, sisters, cousins and aunts often do not even want see their poor members. Igbos need to promote unity and love among themselves before they can hope to forge a common front, politically, socially or even financially. 1 Like |

Afam4eva: Afam you are one of the highy exposed and educated Igbos on the forum, so it would be a tragedy if you allow a semi illiterate like Kanu to influence your thoughts without asking questions. We from the actual Niger Delta are often bewildered when we are dragged into Biafran struggles of the igbos. We honestly do not understand what it is all about. No Niger deltan would want to substitute Nigeria for Biafra. Even the Ijaws that lost the presidency would not join your Biafra. Most prominent Ijaws have joined APC, including Jonathan's hench men. Please you people need to educate us on Biafran ideology outside hatred for Yoruba and Hausa, the struggle for the presidency and political appointments and more allocations from the national cake. 3 Likes |

Afam4eva: But people like you need to be countering the damage being done by Kanu. My business partner is often sad when he reads messages from kanu and he always assures us that his views does not represent mainstream Igbos. We all agree that Nigeria as presently structured is faulty, but war hatred and violence is never the way to correct these ills, else we fall into George Orwell's "Animal Farm" syndrome. 1 Like |

wirinet:The problem usually goes both ways. Other Nigerians have refused to accept the fact that Igjos are been shortchanged more than. Any other group in the country, even minority groups are treated better and as a result, a lot of Igbos feel they don't have any future in Nigeria. Will you really blame them? As much as I get angry at the constant proliferation of Biafran topics without substance, I think this people are just acting the way Nigeria made them to act. We saw it in MEND and are saw it with Boko haram and we are now seeing it with Biafra. They feel that is their best bet at getting justice whether rightly or wrongly. You need notbto worry because these BH iafran activist even though are many, they're not in the majority. They mainly made up of Aba and Onitsha traders and a sprinkling of university graduates else, they would have found a more constructive way to actualize the Biafra in instead people like Nnamdi Kanu are fuelling ethnic hate and some gullible are simply sipping it without reason. 3 Likes 1 Share |

mekaboy: No, you haven't. I don't know why you Nigerians LOVE to lie. You cannot defend your Nigeria without lying. I can prove to you that you lied, and method I use is simple: I asked my question when I saw you online at 7:49 right after your last comment at 7:45. You just replied at 12:26. So you mean to say that your six words sentence took you almost six whole HOURS to form in your head Truth is ALWAYS sponteneous. You don't think; you simply say it. My friend the lies that you people depend on is why Nigeria cannot supply electricity to households for 50 odd years after squandering Billions of dollars in the process. The most pathetic group of people are those who can't see beyond personal gains. Any Igbo that defends current system is just a wicked and selfish soul. But to turn around to attack other Igbo who are honourable (anyone who defends causes greater than self is honourable) is the lowest of the low. Just don't speak loud within your town's age group or the young men there will lynch you in anger. |

Afam4eva: My brother my tribe the Itsekiris are far mor shortchanged than the Igbos. We produce close to 20% of this country's oil resources but there is nothing to show for it. No political appointments, no infrastructural developments, no increased allocation to our communities. All we get from Nigeria is pollution and neglect. My village controls 13 oil wells, yet we do not have pipe drinking water, no schools (not even primary school), no access road. What should we do? Vent our hatred on the Yorubas andHausas (and probably Igbos)? No. we will bid our time and weight our options for the good of all Itsekiris. Mend struggle was a selfish struggle, it only enriched militants. It did not address any of the underlying problems of the NigerDelta - like Pollution, poverty and exploitation. Boko Haram is a political tool ( by northern political elites) gone awry. 4 Likes 1 Share |

wirinet: To be honest, you just don't make sense. So because you Itsekiri (a group probably less than Ngwa clan in population) are totally powerless about your pathetic situation as you painted here, we Igbo that are about 20 times your size should fall in line and behave like you? You people have truly lost your damn minds! Well, I'm only concerned about some brainless Igbo here talking nonsense. THANK GOD FOR RADIO BIAFRA. THANK GOD FOR NNAMDI KANU. 3 Likes |

carnegiefan: Also you are not making sense. Using your warped logic, the Hausa/Fulani that has more population than you should fall in line and behave like you. You now expect the same level of privileges like the Hausa/Fulanis? I feel sorry for the Minorities that decides to join your Biafra. 4 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Igbos Respect Yourselves. by carnegiefan: 9:01am On Aug 20, 2015 |
wirinet: Two quick corrections: (1) The Hausa/Fulani are NOT more than Igbo. Nigeria has NEVER conducted a credible census. All censuses were rigged to favour them from pre-independence. It is an open fact that Igbo are at least 20 times Itsekiri. You don't need a census to prove that. (2) Who used Boko Haram to torment Jonathan until he was hounded out of office? Answer: Hausa/Fulani. Why? Because they needed power like fish need water. And guess what? POWER IS BACK TO THE NORTH FOR GOOD. Believe me the Igbo people are the most docile and even foolish major tribe in Nigeria. If not for certain character flaws like the one being exhibited by the OP and few foolish Igbo supporters, the Igbo would have since seceded from Nigeria, or make Nigeria totally ungovernable. Honourable men think about the future of their children. Dishonorable and selfish ones only think about their personal gains, positions etc. Thank God that the ranks of honorable Igbo men are swelling. Thanks to radio Biafra. 1 Like |
