Chelsea are the Premier League's transfer hijackers and Manchester United their latest victims... here's who else they've signed from under the nose of a rival. Pedro To Manchester United[/i] Chelsea have hijacked Manchester United's deal for Barcelona forward Pedro in what must be a familiar feeling for them and their fellow Barclays Premier League giants. Pedro will become the latest to be swooped by Chelsea after Jose Mourinho made a personal intervention to beat Louis van Gaal to the £21.1million signing. Here, Sportsmail look at six signings they successfully stole from other sides and how they did it, from Roman Abramovich using his Russian mates to Chelsea punishing Liverpool's dawdling. Willian to Tottenham Hotspur It was in August 2013 when Chelsea hijacked Tottenham's swoop for Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala, leaving those at White Hart Lane outraged. Tottenham were fuming after Chelsea's owner, Abramovich, personally phoned his fellow Russian oligarch, Suleyman Kerimov, the Anzhi owner. Tottenham had already seen off competition from Liverpool for Willian, who even had a medical at their training ground. They thought they had their £30m target, but he joined Chelsea instead. John Obi Mikel to Manchester United [i] Mikel signed documents to leave Lyn Oslo in April 2005, and Manchester United even announced that they had struck a deal to sign the then-18-year-old on their official website. Agents were bypassed as the club wanted to deal directly with the player. That proved to be a mistake as, when they expected him to join in January 2006, he never arrived, despite holding up a Manchester United shirt during a hastily-arranged press conference previously. Mikel felt he was pressured into signing without his agent present, and said in an interview that Chelsea were the club he genuinely wanted to join. A dispute over the transfer ended with Mikel penning a deal with Chelsea, who paid compensation to Lyn and United, despite never playing for them. Juan Mata to Arsenal Arsenal wanted Mata in 2011 and bid a club-record £18m for the Valencia midfielder. They turned it down, wanting a higher bid. Well, he who hesitates is lost, and Arsene Wenger's lengthy deliberations cost him dearly. Chelsea wasted no time and, much like their move for Pedro, swooped. They upped their bid to £23.5m, and Mata signed a five-year contract with the club Mohamed Salah to Liverpool Salah was being tracked by clubs in England with Liverpool the likeliest destination. They were in talks with Basle but took 'too long' to finalise the move. Chelsea got involved, and wasted no time. Ian Ayre was quoted as saying 'you win some and lose some', but Salah's agent Sascha Empacher claimed Liverpool's indecisiveness cost them. 'It was a long and fair negotiation with Liverpool, but it lasted two-and-a-half months - too long,' Empacher said. 'Both clubs could not agree on terms. When Chelsea contacted Basle, he was happy and took his chance. It was no financial matter.' Arjen Robben to Manchester United Robben travelled to London and met with Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2003, but their £5m offer was too low for PSV's liking. PSV president Harry van Raaij even told Sir Alex that it would only afford him Robben's shirt with an autograph. 'For that money they can get a shirt from Robben with his signature on it, nothing more,' he said. 'I will not tell you what cards I have but that figure is a laugh.' Well, it was Chelsea who held all the cards. Abramovich immediately offered £12.1m, and it was accepted. Robben joined Chelsea, and won back-to-back titles. Petr Cech to Arsenal He ended up there, but Cech could have joined Arsenal even before he moved to Chelsea. Wenger passed up the opportunity to sign him in 2002 with scouts put off by the at Sparta Prague goalkeeper not qualifying for a work permit. He ended up signing for French side Rennes. Then, in 2004, Arsenal tried to right their wrong by signing Cech. They failed, but Chelsea didn't. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3204591/Chelsea-Premier-League-s-transfer-hijackers-Manchester-United-latest-victims.html 1 Like

Chelsea and Jose Mourinho are always guilty of this, hijacking a player even after medical is totally absurd and despicable. Little wonder, Wenger always keeps his target at heart being afraid Chelsea and Jose might steal (hijack) his target. Remember, two seasons ago, when Jose didn't fancy Demba Ba and Arsenal wanted him. Jose agree to sell to Arsenal only to say no because Arsenal had signed Ozil from Madrid. Jose Mourinho later admitted that Arsenal would've been better that his team had he sold them Ba. Very cunning and clever.... Typical Jose Mourinho. 2 Likes |

Goke7: Not after agreeing to sell only to change mind due to Ozil's signing... It's unsportsmanlike... It is not always about winning by all means. |

ignorance is another name for this post. Mikel was stolen by man u via an lyn oslo sports director known as Morgan Anderson who was later jailed in Norway in respect of his forgery of Mikel's signature. most times nigerians don't read or make inquiries just because they are so used to gossips. for every player in the market, they could be more than 10 clubs vying for his signature. the selling clubs will look for the highest bidder while the player himself is looking for the most favourable person terms and the buying clubs on their own will be looking for the cheapest possible price. that is why wenger can talk about Benzema for 20 years. If another club comes now, u will post hyjack. what do you even know about hyyjack? how many teams are going for John stones now? Chelsea had agreement with madrid for Robinho to the extent chelsea has printed his jersey but man city got him. Aguero was discussing with Chelsea before man city indicated interest. if you no lick your lips, harmmattan will lick it for u. i don't know who is talking about reputation here abi there is a law that says once a club is talking to a player, chelsea should go and sleep? did chelsea hyjack the transfer of Victor Valdes and where is he now? you took him and treated him like garbage and then expect him to allow Pedro to get the same treatment abi una never hear say Van Gaal dey get siko siko for head? 2 Likes |

And many of them have forgotten Man City did the same to Chelsea. From Robinho, Silva, Aguero, Dzeko and I think, Nasri but not so sure of that. |
