@ ladywriter shout out to you and your threads,I have secretly followed and have implemented almost all the ideas from this thread in particular.I discovered its not just writing, there are stuffs just about any computer literate person can do on FL and get paid for it. my question ma'am ,I used my uba visa card to activate the free 30-day trial as one of the gurus suggested here,to get more bidding allowance,I also applied for the payoneer card to be delivered next month.Although I'm yet to get my first fl job I'd like to know how my payment will be paid to me if I eventually get a deal.(so I don't sound unprofessional when the employer asks) Thanks. |

kachnov: Good one @kachnov, the employer will pay the project fee into your account on FL. You can withdraw it into your Payoneer account (card) whenever you get it. Make sure you bid on at least 5 projects daily. It will enhance your opportunity to win. |

hello ladywriter, I tried sending you a mail via the address on the ebook follow up mail (TAKE ACTION) but I kept getting a mail delivery failure. I signed up on FL using my facebook account. However, I am having some problems with the account. My profile summary won't save each time I fill it and click save. When I attempt to bid on projects, I am take to a page where am asked to complete my profile but when I fill in the required details, it doesn't save. I tried verifying my phone number but I keep getting error. All this issues just made me decide to put the FL idea on hold. I don't know if it would be best to just create a new mail and use it to create a new account cos am suspecting the facebook signup method. |

Hello ladywriter and other nairalanders that work on Freelancer.com, Please help me out by giving me your opinion about something. Is there anytime ever you will consider working for an employer without a milestone request? An employer from Australia contacted me about writing a 65 page eBook for her. I wanted to set three milestones and she refused saying she would pay me upon full completion of work. I agreed and told her I would set one milestone instead which I will request for after we conclude the project. She probably did not understand me because as soon as I accepted her offer, she said she would rescind because I set a milestone payment. I have sent her an apology via email but I am yet to get any reply. My understanding is that the payment for the project leaves the employer's account and is kept with Freelancer. I probably think she believes she is paying me in full for the project before I even complete it. She has no reviews so I believe she is new on the site. Please, what is your take on this? Should one keep sentiments aside on every project or should one thread with caution on every single project? Would love to hear from you on this. Cheers. |
Re: My Story: How I bought a car from my Income on freelancer.com by ladywriter(f): 3:25pm On Aug 22, 2015 |
JSayin: @Jsayin, Hmmm! The ideal thing is to let your employer set the milestone. If she is new on the platform, explain the concept to her and how it works. You got it right, the employer pays into FL account and the money is released to the freelancer after project completion. But I trust Australian employers, they don't scam people. Since you have accepted the project, why not continue with it and trust God that she will not abscond with the work. It is well! |

ladywriter: My sister, I don't have a problem continuing with the work. It's just that the tone with which she literally 'told me off' I feel that she might suddenly cancel it or grudge me and not rate the work well when I finish. Can I ask you something? You said that the ideal thing is to let your employer set the milestone. Does that mean you yourself will not work for an employer who refuses to set milestone..? |
Re: My Story: How I bought a car from my Income on freelancer.com by ladywriter(f): 5:50pm On Aug 22, 2015 |
JSayin: Hmmm! I have worked for employers who did not set milestone before. Some of them paid, some didn't. But now, I don't work for employers without milestone. As soon as the project is awarded to me, I don't accept it until the employer sets the milestone. That way, I can cancel the award. But most often than not, I don't struggle with employers over milestone, they set it once the project is awarded. I guess that is because of my reviews. You will get to a point where employers will trust you more. But the safe way to operate on FL is by setting milestones. It is safe for you because if anything happens, FL will not defend you. You will bear the loss alone. So, weigh it very well. If you will like to take the risk, go ahead. If your heart tells you otherwise, don't do it. |
Re: My Story: How I bought a car from my Income on freelancer.com by JSayin(f): 6:51pm On Aug 22, 2015 |
ladywriter: Thank you so much my sister and mentor. I will just research the topic of the book and create an outline then send it to her and wait to see if she corresponds before I start major work. They live in advanced societies where a couple of a hundred dollars or more means nothing. I am at the receiving end if I invest my electricity, gen fuel, and internet data that doesn't come cheap into a project and I do not get paid. And because a lot of them have been conditioned under the affluence of the world they live in, they can be very unforgiving. That's probably why she cannot genuinely accept that I misunderstood her. God has several more projects lined up for me so if this one does not go through, I will still praise Him for showing me the handwriting on the wall. I don't think I will do even a $10 job for anyone on that site without setting up milestones. It took several days of persistent harassment before the one that was owing me finally gave up and paid. And it was $8 but this one is a $177 project. I don't want to go through that embarrassing and frustrating situation ever again. Cheers! |

JSayin:I do not entirely blame the employer. You know why? You souñd and act DESPERATE. You are literally begging. WHY? This is business. You did nothing wrong so why did you send the apology? You have given the other person the upper hand. Your story is so sentimental and emotional, nobody cares about these 2 things in the business jungle. Try and learn some street smartness. Good luck 2 Likes |
Re: My Story: How I bought a car from my Income on freelancer.com by JSayin(f): 12:10pm On Aug 23, 2015 |
tranxo: Kindly read the first part of the story again. I had 'ALREADY ACCEPTED THE OFFER' before we had that disagreement. If I had not, I would not need to apologise. By already accepting the offer, a contract is already 'technically' in place so she can rate me very poorly and at this initial stage on the site, I cannot afford to do anything that will make my ratings drop so I am in a fix. That was why ladywriter started her response with a 'Hmmmh!' because she understands the degree to which I had committed myself before the employer's tone changed. I am the one at a disadvantage not the employer. It is not time to be arrogant and defend my rights. It is a reputation management situation and I am an individual not a multi national corporation like Coca Cola that can afford not to beg. In some cases, it is wiser to appear weak and cowardly than to appear puffed up and arrogant like a know-it-all and loose the battle. I assure you, I know I did not do anything wrong but this is not a 'claim my right' situation. |

Re: My Story: How I bought a car from my Income on freelancer.com by JSayin(f): 7:42pm On Aug 31, 2015 |
ladywriter: Hi Ladywriter, Just to give you an update on this issue. After waiting 48 hours and not getting a response from the woman, I discussed the issue with Freelancer customer service. They said they could send the employer a cancellation request on my behalf but there are two things that could happen; a) If she goes ahead and cancels the project within 7 days, it will affect my rating. b) If she ignores their notification, after 7 days, I can notify them and they will cancel the request but it wont affect my rating. I weighed both options CAREFULLY, then put my trust in God then asked them to go ahead. The 7-day notice ended yesterday. I just contacted them now and they cancelled the notice and told me "The project is now cancelled and your Completion Rate is still 100%." I give God the glory. I'm sure someone can learn from this experience on what to do when faced with such a situation. NB I am about signing my first $1,000 project very soon. I've discussed extensively with the client and I will let you know when it happens. God bless. 3 Likes |

Re: My Story: How I bought a car from my Income on freelancer.com by ladywriter(f): 8:46am On Sep 01, 2015 |
kachnov: @kachnov, this is serious o. Did your employer set milestone for you? If the answer is no, it is a problem o. The amount you mentioned looks too big for the project. I am sure FL have removed their commission on your account already. Stop working and keep contacting the employer until you hear from her end. |
Re: My Story: How I bought a car from my Income on freelancer.com by kachnov(m): 8:59am On Sep 01, 2015 |
ladywriter: In the project bid I set a milestone, also before accepting the award I told her that she'll pay for every 500 concluded .Actually the work is big,a single row in has about 8 data fields multiplied by 3000. yes I have stopped work for now ,till she replies.Fl has taken their commission too, what if the project doesn't go through, will they revert to my former acc. balance @ ladywriter?? |

kachnov: ladywriter: kachnov:@ladywriter this is something I always have in mind to point out. We have always pounded on the issue of milestone setting but I think we have not really separated the implication of the milestone a freelancer sets while bidding for projects, and the one the employer is required to create BEFORE a freelancer accepts a project. There is a huge confusion here. In my opinion, the milestone we create during project bid is only an indication to the employer on what we are willing to accept for the job. This is not an assurance that the employer will pay this amount. If an employer awards a project to you, DISCUSS with the employer on every detail of the project before you accept it. The most important thing is to demand that the employer set a milestone of an agreed amount before you accept the project. I have seen people get carried away by big project budget and accept projects without following due process. 1000gbp will leave you with at least 100gbp debit to your account. That is HUGE.! Even if you get awarded a project, and the employer also creates a milestone at the same time, DO NOT accept the project without having a discussion first with the employer. A lot of cunny employers are on FL. I have had this experience. They will not write the full project description and go on to award you the project and also create a milestone equal to what you requested in the bid. They will never reply all your messages until you accept the project, that is when they will now respond adding many other work to the original project description. This way you will Be forced to work more for less pay. People please do not rush to work on FL without learning the ropes. kachnov I suggest you report this project to Freelancer support especially if the employer did not create any milestone. Tell them you are new and didn't understand the implication of accepting a project without milestone. Let them know that the employer has refused responding to your messages. FL may reverse the Debit to your account. But if the employer created a milestone (which I doubt), work and submit then request for milestone release. 5 Likes |

tranxo:Thank you tranxo,I'm aware of the cunning nature of most employers on FL,this has made me turn down few offers without proper definitions especially from Indians .I discussed the project details thoroughly with the employer and wasn't carried away by the project amount. However thanks for pointing out the difference between personal milestone and employer milestone. The last Australian I worked for confused me,he said FL only collects their commision after i get paid(tho he paid),so when i saw the huge comision on this brits project,i accepted anyway thinking FL will take their cut after project fee has been paid to me.I will chill a lil before contacting fl customer care, hoping the employer replies her msg soonest .Thanks |

kachnov:If it is a fixed project, the commission is taken immediately you accept the award. But if it is an hourly project, the commission is taken when you get paid. Kindly let us know how this issue is finally resolved. We all can learn a thing or two from it. Cheers |

tranxo: Very vaild point. I had a situation where an Indian employer set a $10 milestone for a $15 project and was telling me to go ahead and write that money was not the problem. I knew he was trying to outsmart me but I twisted his arm by insisting that he should set a milestone for the full value of the project before I accept the offer and commence work. After a loooooonnnnnggggg silence (probably weighing the quality of my work and not finding suitable writers), he agreed. I surprised him by delivering the 3-day project in 24 hours. (if im tink say e be Indiya, me i be naija babe. I dey shine my eye well well for all dis Indiya pipo even if na one dollar work i dey do for dem. though now I sabi say any employer fit trick u regardless of weda im be indiya or not) 3 Likes |

Sexologist: Hi, How long can it take you to research 100 (one hundred) plants and give me the: a) botanical name of the plant (where unavailable) b) the origin of the plant b) countries they grow c) In what ways they can be cooked and eaten as food d) nutritional content e) website link of the page you researched I already have a list of the plants I want you to research and I need a minimum of four sentences and a maximum of 6 sentences for each plant. Example: 'MINER’S LETTUCE (CLAYTONIA PERFOLIATA): As the name suggests, they are a perfect alternative to lettuce and they grow in large quantities in the wild. Miner’s lettuce is thought to be originally from Europe but they are available in United States, South America and United Kingdom. It’s large, tender and crunchy leaves have a mild taste and are rich in nutrition. They contain vitamin C, A, and iron . They are used in salads, wraps and sandwiches.' Reference website link: www.seriouseats.com/.../seriously-asian-stir-fried-burdock-root-kinpira-p... You can research 'BURDOCK (ARCTIUM)' and write a sample for me. Use it to estimate how long it will take you to do a minimum of 50 and a maximum of 100 then get back to me asap. Please be realistic about how long it will take you. Cheers. |
