The highest I've gone is 140km/h in a 2002 Civic on the Benin-Agbor Exp Way. I don't go higher than 120, that 140 sef I nearly slapped myself for getting carried away. I don't want to die young.

I did 240km/hr with my lexus gs300 on 3rd mainland bridge to VI at about 2am. Chased up a camry and overtook on the bridge before I realized I had hit 240 and the car max is 260.. funny enough, with the AC on, didn't really feel it cos of the car's great balance.

Also done 180 km/hr on same road on another occasion at night..

Though it was very risky, not going to try the 240km again.

Emeka, the maximum on a car's speedo scale does NOT mean the car it's fitted to will achieve that maximum.

Manufacturers fit speedometers with scales in excess of what the vehicle will achieve for a number of reasons. First is to give room for error margin, another is to give "room" to manoeuvre. This means a vehicle that will achieve 130mph will have a speedometer calibrated up to 140 or even 150mph.

If it had a 130mph speedo, on a good day, with favourable conditions - downward incline or tailwind, the needle could actually go off the scale. With a standard car that has not been altered from factory specification, the legal implications are huge. A European Toyota Yaris with a 1.0 3 cylinder has a 130mph speedo. You reckon it could actually reach that maximum? Of course it won't.

Another reason your Lexus GS300 has a 260km/h speedo is COST. The same speedo is fitted to the much more powerful Lexus GS430. And even this car will NOT achieve 260km/h. It's cheaper to use as many parts as possible in as many models as is practical.

I read a Physical friend's post in this section last Month where he stated his highest speed he attained was above 180km/hr whereas he has never turned On a car ignition ever before (I know he is currently reading this now)

A Man who drives at the speed of 300KM/H on a typical Nigerian road has a very slim chance of holding a camera and/or snapping his own dashboard as his whole attention is on the road and his two hands on the steering wheel, busy diving (overtaking at this speed is an understatement) from other vehicles at the front.

Na only you dey road abi vehicle no come for your front? even professional car racers gets to make plans for a road clear or the race done on a professional race pitch. Too much movies dey worry some people, Keep trying what you watched on "Fast and Furious" on Naija road. God help u if u end up handicapped for the rest of your life or worse still, kick a very hot and heavy bucket.

Av done 140 - 160 km/h along aba - owerri express. Then along okigwe - enugu express (audi 80 1990)... then with Toyota solara 2003 along gwarimpa express..160- 170km/h on a cool night

Sorry to butt in here - an Audi A4 quattro 3,2 V6 makes 241 bhp. It's IMPOSSIBLE to reach a speed of 230 mph in that car. It just doesn't make anywhere near enough power. 230 km/h yeah, not mph. Unless this is just some joke.

true that.... the RCCG - shagamu section of that road is a 5 lane Racer's paradise....you can easily max 200km/hr and have many lanes to play on

The take off speed the last time I checked on both local and international flight is between 235km/h and 255km/h using GPS speed software on my phone. I will post a screen saver if I remember next time but the issue is if your not sure of the road don't try that speed in a car. If you think your car does not have wings and will not take flight at that speed think again on Nigerian roads a few things can act as temporary flight wings (aids) example pot hole, cow crossing, small stone that fellof a truck, police checkpoint at blind spot with rocks, locally constructed speed fence that was not there 'yesterday', etc.

Back to the topic my new fastest speed was 231km/h measured by GPS but the car measured 236km/h. The car was my 2002 s430 between abaji and jere junction on locoja to Kaduna Road. There was this car driving and overtaking recklessly shortly after okene felt like teaching his ego a lesson or two without landing myself in mortuary. Followed him gently behind till abaji at that point the road is new and familiar to me, he noticed I wanted to overtake him so he maxed out at 210km/h, well I maxed out at 231km/h, the exponentially increasing gap humbled him he never bothered to overtake till I branched off the road.

Speed doesn't need to mean crashing unless there is no control and no commonsense.

I personally must admit that the self-control part can be difficult at times, many a driver has almost crashed because of being provoked by a lesser being (correct that to mean a less powerful car acting like it has dusted a much more powerful vehicle) and not keeping his emotions in check.

200km/h with my Toyota aurion 2008 sportivo zr6 on the smooth road on RCCG sagamu section of Lagos Ibadan expressway. Just because I wanted to show another driver how fast my car accelerates.

180km/h with my previous car ( Honda Accord 2005 ) on oyo to Ibadan expressway.

Hi guys, I just can't help but say how much I admire y'all courage at pushing the limits, I gotta give it to y'all real men and the few women who have truly pushed the pedal to the metal. I'm a car enthusiast tho I've got lots to learn, I swear my girlfriend confessed she felt like punching me in the balls cos I'm always glued to this thread from 0-31.

I think I'm gonna need help choosing my first car after reading this thread, I have a budget of 1.5m...I was gonna settle for a Corolla sport 2006 but reading all you guys been doing with them Germans, I must confess.... I'm tripping. If you would be kind enough to help a brother narrow down his choice, I'd be so grateful.

hahaha if it were the 2013-2015 V6 model it will be able to keep up with those two, especially the SE which handles alot better than the normal camry. u care to mention the year, trim nd engine type of the camry u were in?

and which bmw was it that passed u?

No go kill yourself, your CAMRY V6 is a fast car, even its 4 cylinder. Your driver might not have the urge or interest to speed unlike the drivers of the BMW and peugeot. Besides, the Camry will kill the peugeot in every ramification.
