xtrorse: Olodo, Nigeria wasn't a country in 1914, it was a colonial colony of the british empire. Lagos was a british colony and didn't become the capital of Nigeria as a country till 1960 after independence when Nigeria became a country. Lagos was a First Class Township and remained Nigeria's only such township and a self-governing municipality with its own mayor till independence in 1960. In 1959, on the eve of Nigeria's independence, Lagos City was designated a Federal Territory administered by a Council comprising elected representatives, as well as traditional chiefs appointed by government.. Even Lagos as the FC of Nigeria as a country was limited to Lagos Island. The industries and major commerce were in Apapa, Ikeja, Mushin, Ilupeju and so on. So, exactly what did the FG of Nigeria did in Lagos state to develop Lagos state especially when in fact their activities was confined to Lagos Island? You villagers need some history books and that's if you know how to read and comprehend.... 5 Likes 1 Share |

aresa: Your ewedu soup-filled brain must be playing a fast one on you bigotic hypocrite! That's why many of your tribesmen keep on making careers out of lies, falsehood, noise-making, propaganda, abuse and slurs. LAGOS Originally governed as a British crown colony, Lagos was part of the United Kingdom’s West African Settlements from 1866 to 1874, when it became part of the Gold Coast Colony (modern Ghana). In 1886 it again achieved separate status under a British governor, and in 1906 it was amalgamated with the Protectorate of Southern Nigeria. When Southern and Northern Nigeria were amalgamated in 1914, Lagos was made the capital of the Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria. In 1954 most of the hinterland was incorporated into the region of Western Nigeria, while the city itself was designated as federal territory. In 1960 Lagos became the capital of independent Nigeria. Control of its hinterland was returned to the city in 1967 with the creation of Lagos state. After 1975 a new national capital, centrally situated near Abuja, was developed to replace Lagos, which by then suffered from slums, environmental pollution, and traffic congestion. By the late 15th century Lagos Island had been settled by Yoruba fishermen and hunters, who called it Oko. The area was dominated by the kingdom of Benin, which called it Eko, from the late 16th century to the mid-19th century. The Portuguese first landed on Lagos Island in 1472; trade developed slowly, however, until the Portuguese were granted a slaving monopoly a century later. The local obas (kings) enjoyed good relations with the Portuguese, who called the island Onim (and, later, Lagos) and who established a flourishing slave trade. British attempts to suppress the slave trade culminated in 1851 in a naval attack on Lagos and the deposition of the oba. The slave trade continued to grow, however, until Lagos came under British control in 1861. http://www.britannica.com/place/Lagos-Nigeria 6 Likes |

Yet infrastructural development in Yorubaland outside Lagos is not much different from that in a rural town in Chad or Niger Republic. Igbo that has not occupied the seat once is buying up and developing Lagos and Igbo cities. You de smell PRESI and DENT. 7 Likes |

aresa: Yea, you seem current a bit; you remember how your Field Marshall, MKO Abiola, was whisked away like a common thief by your slave master and he was slaughtered like a salah ram before you bloody cowards. Yorubas were hiding in Soka Evil Forest. The same Slave master have been hunting Yorubas for sport in Kwara State for decades. And they even consider Yoruba Muslims as inferior beings. "And let me tell you that in the event of the breakup of this country, Ilorin and Offa will remain 100 % Northern Nigeria and not one each of land will be ceded to yorubas".- Junaid Mohammed. http://nigeriavillagesquare.com/forum/main-square/69271-north-ready-nigeria-s-breakup-if-junaid-muhammed.html Your Fulani slave master has spoken, Yoruba slaves like your loudmouthed self can only but cheer him. abbey621:Hahahha man you are ignorant. So you are saying people can make any type of comment insofar the comment does not warrant to peoples death right? For your information people do actually lose their jobs and in some cases subjected to criminal trial after making inciting or racial comments like the one the infamous Oba made. Long serving skysports analysts richard keys and Andy Gray lost their jobs as a result of racial comment they made about a female lines woman. John Terry was stripped of the England captaincy and fined heavily after making racial comment about Antoine Ferdinand. He was even charged for criminal prosecution. If you so much believe in this freedom of speech, how about you going on air threatening to kill the president. If you are not picked then I will agree with you that truly freedom of expression do confer on us the right to say anything we want. 2 Likes |

Kalvan: Disciple of hate and propaganda, quit whining, weeping and wailing profusely for another man's course! And when did Yorubas start caring for the Igbos When will Yorubas cease dragging other tribes along with their wicked propaganda to stand a chance to withstand Igbos Oh, I still remember vividly the January 1966 coup and the 1967-70 civil war which was precipitated by the bloody 'Operation Wetie ' in the SW of Nigeria, by the same notorious treacheerous beings on earth. They start trouble and heat up the polity only to run cowardly to hide in their evil Soka forest when the jungle matures. 2 Likes |
