Hmm... do you know ? that short passage you labelled "verbose" is actually what you see in UTME and other unified examination,The mental task is for Candidates to be able to unravel the basic meanings or contextual meanings of the seeming Complex words and comprehend the passage as a whole. Without a principal understanding of those words, comprehension becomes a tall hurdle. I got your point though.
