The Home of craft in Africa is Aba, you people rarely travel but claim everything.

Onitsha and Enugu are another area but not to the level of Aba, craft business in Aba is on the world of its own, nobody can challenge Aba craftmen.
People from Gabon, Togo, Ghana and Cameroun visit Aba daily for shoe purchase, visit Aba and see where tailors build 3 storey buildings.

Stop abeggggg, just stop now
This loudmouthed thing is in your DNA.Have you ever had an upper hand when destiny pits you against the Yorubas..No.You are our wives. Do we need any brothel when you are always available like the effeminate one that fled to Ivory coast. Oh my bad.

The only way that can happen is if we get autonomy. its definitely not happening at this moment.only the government can do that and the Current Government has better things to deal with.i can authoritatively tell you the plan to upgrade artisans and craftsmen is parts of the plans of the DAWN Commission but whenever we talk some people will start screaming one Nigeria. that's why i don't engage in all these biafran threads. i actually wish for their seccession. i wish it will happen today. Another thing is this, i don't think there's anywhere in the world where craftsmen are billionaires. kilode. look at this link and you'll smile.

I love what Shittu did there. But sentiments apart, don't you think Yorubaland especially Lagos is too saturated with more than enough craftsmen.?

Lagos doesn't even have enough craftsmen i.m.o if you consider the population. if you go to osogbo and iseyin you'll understand my point

There are so many of them in Lagos and I am afraid just like the OP that we must find legal solution to counter them by going into trading.I know we would triumph as we have always done against them.

lol.... Don't worry your head too much. Just look at businesses Yorubas managed when Igbos returned to the East in 1967 before the war and you'll understand when we say that Yorubas cannot manage any business, they'll loot, loot and loot the company until the company is liquidated.

Kingsway
Dunlop
Bata
Leventis
Mr. Biggs etc

These are unfortunate examples of Yoruba management skill. Just look at Nairaland for example and you'll feel sorry for Yoruba business. grin grin

We are not looking at this thing with the same goggles if I may say so.Those area boys are mostly craftspeople. Their complaint is that they are not getting enough customers or not even been patronised because there are so many of them doing the same thing.
Were you not in a recent post/thread happy that we still had 3 billionaires from the Yoruba stock and not one single Ibo-Adenuga,Otedola,Alakija...on the Forbes list? Are these people craftsmen/woman.
Don't even go to the Alakija designer thing because she didn't get her dough from there...

Yes i was happy but i never said our billionaires were craftsmen. i already said there's no where in the world where craftsmen are billionaires at the same time no ibo will come here and tell me those spare parts traders are millionaires talkless of billionaires. crafts is a s.m.e thing. we're basically saying the same thing but there's a mix up

Which real estate and where is the building materials.

The biggest building material in Lagos is Oduade which Igbos don't just dominate but own. All the iron dealers at Iyana Ipaja are mostly from Anambra State.

Who own ASPAMDA grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

You can even challenge Igbos anywhere in building materials even in Dei Dei Abuja they have turned it to Bridgehead extension.

Have you seen
the UNDP report on poverty in Nigeria?I am not praying for that but in a couple of years from now,it would be a different story for the South Westerners.
In Nigeria of today, the Ibos are the most largely employed and they have a good traviste and still consolidating through this trade thing.
We want billionaires, millionaires and even thousandnaires who would be able to lift their communities and not these poor craftspeople that have become area boys...

You can only counter me, the only line of business Yorubas dominate in Lagos is lace, adure blockade.
Yorubas can't challenge Igbos anywhere in business.
Is it Yoruba people that come to shop by 11:00 AM and close by 3:00 PM that will challenge Igbos in business.

Those that sell plastic today, agbo tomorrow, okirika on tuesday, necklace on wednesday, buka on thursday while on friday they will sell everything in their shop wholesale and use the money to buy party materials they will wear on naming ceremony on sunday.

A yoruba trader won't even beg you to buy from them, when you bought and requested for change they will be abusing you. They will not sell for each other, they think they are doing customers favour selling to them.

My first experience trying to buy from a yoruba in lagos left with goose-pimple. I wanted to buy exercise book from a yoruba shop, asked her to bring 40,60 and 80 leaves all of a sudden this women started asking me if I wanted to buy it or to look it. This woman told me that she don't have the strength to return those books back, that if I don't want to buy it that I should leave his shop.

Buy N200 card from a yoruba person and gave her N500 to give you N300 change, if she didn't curse and abuse your great great ancestors you won't see the change in an hour time.
Some will even forfeit making profit of N100 instead of going out to look for change and give to the customer.

Oga there is more to business than just opening shop and stuffing it with goods of exotic qualities while reclining in your chair and expect customers to come.

Oga Igbo business is more than you forget those things you see, yorubas know they can't even do it. Where will they start, from networking of traders from every part of Nigeria or transportation of the goods using numerous Igbo transport coys that know each traders initials and logos and drop their consignments to their customers or warehousing, clearing and forwarding .

It can't happen, even the gods can't guarantee that

In real big business, you are no match to the Yorubas but the problem is that most IBOS are coming into this trade thing like bees and mostly stationed in the South West especially Lagos and they are now using their population power to almost overwhelm the Kwarans who are traders and buying lands like the Ibos too. They even have more lands than the IBOS but are not shouting that they dominate anybody because they are Yorubas.Ifear that the other Yorubas would lose a substantial and juicy part of Lagos if they dont act quick.TRADE OR BIZ IS THE IN THING.BELIEVE IT OR LOSE WHILE YOU BECOME BEGGARS BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT LOOKING AT REALITY.

Do you know how many over populated specialized market you have in Onitsha? When you people say Igbos flock to Lagos you make it look like if there is no market in Igboland.

Where have Ndi Igbo made noise about lands and properties they own I'm Lagos? Is it not in defence of themselves to threads like this one that make them to respond.

Talking about Kwarans, it is on record that most of them are not educated or do not even enjoy their wealth. Igbos know to spend an enjoy their little resources.
There are more Igbos in Social media in Nigeria than any other tribe, including in Nairaland. A Yoruba might be the owner but the man that sells the parts he needs for his computer is being sold by onye Igbo

The OP is a very intelligent guy but his Yoruba brothers are too dumb and egoistic to understand the message he's trying to pass. Op i tell you what, do what you feel is best for you. You don't owe anyone or your tribesmen an advice. Igbos don't encourage anyone to trade, we see the opportunity and take it. It comes naturally.

For example, Nairaland has been a very popular forum since 2005 but the owner could not see the opportunity therein until Linda Ikeji came and saw the enormous opportunities and took it. It was only then that Nairaland saw the need to incorporate advert placement on its platform. Like i said, business opportunity comes naturally to an Igbo man.
