Dankwambo, Okowa, Obiano Mull APC Move. by wengerjay(m): 4:01am On Aug 29, 2015 |
Two governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe) and Patrick Okowa ( Delta) are mulling joining the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC). Also engaged in high wire talks to jump boat and quit his party, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), for the APC is Chief Willie Obiano, the Anambra State governor. While Dankwambo is already said to be in contact with top APC chieftains, Okowa’s entry is being smoothened by a former governor of the state. If all goes as planned, Okowa would recontest under the APC come 2019. Already Governor Adams Oshiomhole is said to be playing some salient role in this direction. Ifeanyi Okowa Delta state governor Ifeanyi Okowa Delta state governor A top chieftain of the APC who spoke to LEADERSHIP Weekend on condition of anonymity said the three governors have already concluded their plans and are just waiting for their various election tribunals to uphold their elections. Dankwambo who defied the ‘Buhari Tsunami’ to win a second term in office in Gombe State is said to be weighing his option for 2019 as he may not have his luck shine twice. He may wish to come to the Senate. Our source say he is being encouraged by powerful APC leaders who are displeased with former governor, Senator Danjuma Goje’s role so far especially in the recent leadership squabble which rocked the National Assembly. If Dankwambo moves to the APC, he would be handed over the machinery of the party and effectively neutralise the former governor’s hold on the party. First time governor, Obiano who has fallen out with his erstwhile godfather and former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, according to our source is in deep discussions with Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and Senator Chris Ngige on possible movement to the APC. His decision to opt for a change in party has become necessary as Obi has had a firm control of the APGA structure in the state until his movement to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP . Obi’s movement, however, depleted the support Base of APGA in the state thereby exposing Obiano to the PDP in the state. chief_willie_obiano2Though the governors have largely kept their discussions secret, our source said it is just a matter of time before they finally declared their intentions to the party. It would be recalled that Dankwambo who was appointed a member of the PDP e-registration committee by his party boycotted the committee’s inauguration recently. An aide of the governor, Junaidu Us man, when contacted described the report as part of rumours making the round, stating that the governor had never mentioned his intention to leave the PDP to anyone as he was more concerned with providing dividends of democracy to the people of Gombe State. “My boss has never told us of this. This is not a priorities for him as he is bothered with issues of governance in the state. He has initiated tremendous policies and only concerned with delivering on his campaign promises and nothing more at the moment”, Usman saidhttp://leadership.ng/news/457026/dankwambo-okowa-obiano-mull-apc-move 3 Likes |

That obiano speculation is a big fat lie. Does Obiano want to loose Anambra woefully? Anambra refused Ngige both at governorship and senatorial seat because of APC and in the wake of also transferring Boko Haram prisoners to Anambra, APC dead and buried in that state. Okowa move to APC in delta state. Hahahahahahaha. As for Dakwambo, I am sure he is moving. I am even surprised he won the state with PDP, that he may not achieve again, now that. Buhari is making APC a northern party. 8 Likes 1 Share |

It's obvious that APC wants to use propaganda to confuse and coerce those governors into jumping to APC. Even in 2099 elections, APC can never win in SE. @op, I would have told you to relay this message to Tinubu but we all know that SW is also being schemed out of events too. All of us go soon become wailing wailers. Tinubu ntoor. 8 Likes 1 Share |

I will take that of Dankwambo but Obiano, no way. That of Obiano will only happen if Buhari outperforms GEJ in the South East in an unprecedented way but we all know that cannot be determined before Obiano next election. For Okowa, it's 50-50. 2 Likes 1 Share |

ladyF: Where are you typing from? Deltans don't vote, they are 'voted' for by part thugs. And they will warn that coming to the voting center you are liable to die young. Delta state has always been in the vice grip of desperate and violent politicians like Edo was before Osho s tsunami. The leaders may be PDP, the same may not apply to the electorate. |

Iro lon kpa. Dankwambo's is in an enviable position(only PDP governor of a core Hausa/Fulani state, one of only 2 northern governors in the PDP and the only PDP northern governor in his 2nd term) and he's even been discussed as a possible PDP 2019 presidential candidate. Why would he leave that for the APC where he'll just be one of the governors? How can u say he will decamp cause of a 2019 senatorial ambition and d "Buhari tsunami"? If he survived it in 2015 in a whole state, why can't he survive it in 2019 in a senatorial district when Buhari might not even be contesting? Why would he move from the PDP where he's d undisputed boss in Gombe state to the APC where there's a Danjuma Goje? Okowa's own? Don't even go there. Even him knows that a move away from PDP and his 2nd term ambition is as good as dead. Obiano leave APGA for APC? That's future impossible tense unless he doesn't want a 2nd term. Anambra is for APGA and APGA is for Anambra. Where's Peter Obi after decamping to PDP? The East don't fancy APC.... Evidence is their dismal show in these past elections in that region..... They won only IMO with a not so wide gap(and d elections even had to be rescheduled in some LG) |

Obiano should remain in APGA and build the party. We need another opposition party in Nigeria that is stronger than PDP. |
