Only Lagos is a city in Nigeria.Abuja is the administrative district and doesn't count. Port harcourt is a densely populated Town .
When people talk about cities ,they are talking about something like the pic below. The height of a settlement is matters more than the width in determining a 21st century.

Calabar is a megaCity according to the NIGERIAN standard... It's popularity may be due to it being our maiden Capital City.

Enugu is Wonderful.... Optimal population.

Honestly. I mean you're promoting a city that you say is underrated and all you can do is pull up a very stereotypical picture that fits very nicely with the very image that you say underrates the city!

Nigeria cannot boast of a standard city. Lagos is like a squatter town with dilapidated buildings. There is no central sewage system, no metro system, no good public spaces, no good cab system, no good power supply, no constant treated water supply, poor security, etc. Jeez! That country is really the hell fire on earth. I wonder how any reasonable human being can survive there. angry lipsrsealed cry cry cry cry cry

True talk

The biggest problem with Nigerians is that they don't explore. Just visit ordinary Ghana (it's not too far) and your perspective will forever change. If you do, you will immediately realize that nowhere in Nigeria is fit to live in or safe. The fact that most people don't have a choice necessitates your need to hype what you cannot change. God help that country.

Yet people, live, survive, thrive and prosper in Nigeria. Hmmm, something doesn't add up.

I wouldn't go as far as to say calabar is a mega city, but it is perhaps one of the best cities to live in, in Nigeria.

If you call it living. Which is why i said to explore. Survive yes. The human nature is built to survive. Thrive? once again like i said, you'all need to explore. When getting an education or skill does not guarantee success? i wonder your definition of thrive. Prosper? when criminality and illegality is embedded in the mentality of the average Nigerian why won't they "prosper"? Survival of the fittest. Law of the jungle. If anyone considers this living then i wonder.

Enugu,Calabar ,Uyo,Aba, are all suburbs in need of a downtown business district.

if Calabar looked like this, then we're starting to talk about city.
And Lagos looks like this?

Oga I have spent time in at least 6 different countries including the US and UK so tell me something else. Nigeria is not perfect of course but let me tell you a lil secret no place on earth is!!

Most of what you allege in your post is trash. Criminality and illegality are embedded in the mind of the average Nigerian?? What an insult but i'll overlook it because from your usage of the word average there i can tell you never took a class in statistics(or you took it without paying attention) so it's not your fault.

It's no one's fault if you lack the mental strength to make it in Nigeria sir but there are plenty plenty and plenty success stories in Nigeria, people who made it through clean hard work and the grace of God.

4. Onitsha
Onitsha has been booted off most Nigerians’ radar because they think it is boring and undeveloped. However, the city has been growing quietly and now it is really a warm city where you can enjoy the big metropolis’benefits on a moderate budget. The underrated city is an exciting places to live, it gives a subcontinental thrill and the locals are proud of its charm and laid-back atmosphere. You should see an Ibo guy talk about Onitsha, you will love it. Onitsha is growing rapidly, the city is attraction lots of foreign Industries with huge capital resources. Onitsha has got everything that will give you a comfortable lifestyle, from cheap housing to low cost of living. Maybe that is why the locals love their city so much.
I dont know where you got the information from people that onitsha is not developed. Nobody actually boot onitsha off. It is a strong commercial centre that comes along with lagos, abuja when you think of centers for the busiest financial transactions in Nigeria. I dont think anybody ever underated Onitsha. Ask Sanusi lamido of kano or ibb who visited therer 20yrs ago.

I STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH ONITSHA IN THE LIST.
HEAVY CRIME ABOUND THERE AND AMENITIES IS A MINUS.
I PREFER OWERRI TO ONITSHA IN THE EAST.
Onitsha is now the most peaceful City in Nigeria today!.

Enugu too gan. I love that city die. I agree with the rest except Onitsha. What's Onitsha doing there? Can't live there even if I'm paid a 100k a month without working. Never seen a city as disorganised and touty as osha.
Alobam, odika inwebero idea ife aluga. . . Otu is no longer the Otu you use to know. . . Otu na akwuzi better pay recently, Otu amago mma, Otu wuzi mmimi! not as touty as it used to be, as you portrayed it. Btw, how do you define disorganised? which city in Nigeria can be said to be organised in the supreme sense of the word

I agree with the list, especially with the inclusion of Ilorin and Sokoto.
Ou
Both are cities where you can quietly enjoy life. I still hold that Ilorin is the most underrated city in Nigeria.

. Sokoto
Sokoto is perceived to be unsafe, so it is not surprising that the city is not exactly a place people want to live, work or visit. However, the city is a vibrant city with cosmopolitan vibes. The city is surrounded by interesting sights and attractions, beautiful architecture, scenic lakes and dams, good housing stock and a great neighbourhood development. Sokoto is said to have some of the best road networks in Northern Nigeria. If you love Northern music, art and culture, you will love Sokoto more. Meat is cheaper at Sokoto Meat Market. Sokoto is an exciting place to live.
I still do not agree that people perceive sokoto to be unsafe. May be a couple of southerners but sokoto and jigawa are the safest place in the north. You can hardly hear of any religious, boko boys, political violence in Nigeria.
