Hi everybody, i have been a silent follower of the thread. I have learnt a whole lot from you guys and i really appreciate the contribution of everybody on d thread cos THIS IS DEDICATED TO U. My Visa was approved this morning. I had a nice sleep as always as i tried to ignore the tot of d interview. Alarm woke me up by 4.50am, left home by 5.30am, got to embassy by past 6am, did all d required. Finally on d judgement queue. A guy was right in front of me and one behind me. The guy at my front engaged us in discussion and was telling us how the lady in window 11 has been approving visa for all she had interviewed, but others have been rejecting (which I noticed too, but didn't wanna let that get to me and affect my confidence level). When we got to d front, d guy at my front saw that d lady on window 11 was still busy with someone and decided to queue behind me or move away. He gave one irrational reason to d guy arranging d queue, but d guy noticed and didn't allow him go (I was just smiling). He was asked to go to window 9, while I moved to window 10. VO: Pass ur docs Me: Hello, passed d doc. VO: please gimme a min Me: yeah, its fine He left and came back after like a minute. Before he came back, av arranged the supporting docs so they won't be far fetched when asked. Here he comes; VO: oh, I won't be needing all that (referring to my docs). Me: Alright, I packed them together. Before we start, I told him I would like to use the phone, he said okay if it makes me feel comfortable. I then picked it cos I didnt wanna give chance for error or regrets over accent and language clarity. VO: Why r you going to the sch Me: To do MS in Project mgt. VO: Why did u pick the sch. Me: I did research on Google to find a school to study the Masters in PM., I discovered d school. I also checked on usnews and discovered the school is the 42 best national uni in US in 2015. He cuts in, VO: 40 what? me: 42nd best national uni. He was typing, am sure he was checking d info on d system/internet. I continued; Me: the faculty ratio is 13:1 and I also came about one publication made by Prof. Joseph Griffin on "Project Life Cycle". VO : Project what? Me: Life Cycle of a Project (corrected myself) He started typing again, sure he was checking d info on d system. VO: Joseph what? Me: Griffin. VO: what did u discuss and how did u get in touch with him. Me: I called him on phone and told him my intention of studying PM and my objective, we had discussion around his research work. He eventually said he would be happy to have me as one of his students. VO: What are the details of his research work and other ..... not sure I got that clearly, but I knew I had no answer for that and still wanna be on d driving seat of d conversation (cos in truth, I never had discussion with him). Me: Like I said, we only had a telephone discussion, a lot were said and the objective for me was if I was making d right choice picking d sch. VO: Were those just the reason? Me: Well, I think the deciding factor is d fact that d sch is accredited by the Project Mgt Institute Global Accreditation Center which makes it stand out. Guess he didn't bother to Check again. VO: Who is ur sponsor Me: My dad VO: What does he do Me: He is a chief, a politician and a business man VO: What kidda buz Me: Construction and real estate. Besides, I have some money too. VO: What do u do Me: Work with Stanbic Ibtc VO: What's that? Me: A bank, Stanbic Ibtc bank (a member of standard bank group) He was acting somehow Me: Haven't u heard about Standard bank group? with a smile. He just looked at me, like for real? (joking, but that was d expression) VO: Have u travelled before Me: Never had any reason to (with a smile) VO: Do u av any family in d US Me: Not at all He passes other docs to me, said something (didn't get that), held on to my passport. Me: What did u say? VO: Pick up ur passport in 3 days time and gave me one white paper(with a strong face) Me: Oh, alright, thanks, with almost similar face (bottled my excitement and left till I got outside). Points to note * I had a hitch-free process with d help of this thread * I was brimming with confidence cos I believed av heard enough preparation, know almost every question they were gonna ask. *Had a lil chat with God cos I know and believe av done my part * Only two people knew about my going for the interview (cos I know what works for me - words embedded). * Never handled it like a "6 unit course" in order to cool my nerves and have a chat rather than interview with d VO. (what works for u though) Hmm, besides this thread, the effort of some special and God-sent people made this possible . Slimmy05 (am sure u may not remember me again), Amefrica (now Canafrica #lol#)BigFrancis (my handsome and reliable guy) and Olumide098 (my ever supporting and encouraging friend). You all made this possible, I only had to single out these people for the effort and selfless service in going extra mile to help others. I wish to also help others if required as I received without kobo paid for service. My advice; - Be an attentive listener and a smart reader -Don't expect to be spoonfed, also do more research -The truth is dt d so called agent outside don't know what we know on this thread - U wanna go to US, u need to earn it cos I believe there are lots of huddles still ahead. THANK YOU ALL and GOD BLESS. Regards, twAYz. 29 Likes 1 Share |
