I love Soul food, watched some of Tyler's movies

Then you will know what i am talking about, how they celebrate thanksgiving and what were the roles of women in the family despite being career orientated.

I don't even see the need of arguing over this here,on Nairaland most people had maids while growing up,in fact they didn't even cook or care for their younger ones at one point in their lives. They had washing machines, vacuum cleaners, dish washers.... grin grin

I do not go back and forth with people who see/read what they want to.

I stopped where you said 'I don't believe in headship' bla bla

Can't keep saying same thing over and over again.

Your interest in the Bible is strange for someone who isn't a Christian.

And any wonder the oldest sister (played by Vanessa Williams ) with least nurturing skills ended up getting a divorce. I have no idea when being married became a power struggle undecided

You are shooting yourself in the foot

Edwife is saying since husbands handle the electricals, plumbing and car repairs, they should not do house chores...

Now you are saying a husband either pays or does it himself

Can't a woman pay for someone to serve her husband? Afteral, she is paying

How so?

Edwife is saying husbands and wives have their duties in the home and should do them to the best of their ability. Stop putting sarcastic spin on a time-honoured practise.

Indeed, he does.

Maybe she should pay so that she can see first-hand what proper service looks like and learn or if she doesn't want to learn, at least, provide the husband with proper meal service.

The point is to get the job done and done well. Plus, what the Bleep is the woman's priority sef?

Abraham didn't have to, and Sarah chose to as a symbol of honour she had for her husband. today, nobody is asking you to call them lord, what husband want is to be treated with honour in his home, and serving his food is not a taboo, it is another way to show honour. get that into your brain. are your so busy or handicapped to serve your husband food? it is your type that demands for heaven and earth from their husband, that Is if they ever successfully settle down with a husband.
A woman wants to be treated with love and care in her own home. You see your wife's hands are full with chores yet you insist she dishes out ur food for u. Is that a way to show love, care and consideration? It's ur type that will end up jumping from wife to wife

Well the case at hand involves a nigerian wife and her husband. Here, the men are too lazy to get anything done in their homes

maybe in your family, stop generalizing...

I am only interpreting what you said

A man has his roles and pays people to do them
A woman has her roles and pays people to do them

What is hard in that?

What would you have her do?

It might be minor or inconsequential to you but see people talking about dishing the food so that the husband doesn't look outside?

I will have her wear red bra n pant to seduce him out of the spirit of wanting his food to be dished for him,so that he doesn't look outside, inside and around angry cheesy.

Says the babe who regularly misquotes the bible to fit her ideals. grin. That's quite bloody rich.

Do you?

But you can. The Lord's Prayer, The Grace, National Anthem. Praise The Lord. We say these things over and over and over and over and over.

I'm arguing the bible with you because you claim to be a christian and use it as a reference for your arguments. Alas, your ideals and that of the bible are at variance. It would not sit well with my conscience if you deceived others into your fantasy and I stood by doing nothing. Consider it my service to humanity grin. Besides, I've read the bible through twice, I can't suddenly unknow what I've known. wink

stop fooling yourself, everyone can understand the instance of her hands being full with rigorous chores, not the 'forming' your type does nowadays....

She alluded to the fact that husband's actually do these themselves. It's one thing to do a thing. It's another to hire someone to do it. Which anybody can do by the way.

Maybe she should hire someone to serve her husband. What do you think?

@Bold:

The OP is not a power struggle... byvan painted a scenario perfectly...

The food is in front of the husband and the wife is busy... The husband still expects her to leave what she is doing and serve it

Where is the power struggle?

Why are people twisting it to suit their intentions?

Exactly!

A happy marriage is not suppose to be a power struggle,if serving my husband makes him happy,by all means i will and if in any way i am sick or indispose,i doubt he will insist i do it.

Just like when there is a noise in the house or gun shot, the first word of any sensible man will be stay here don't move or go get the kids and hide, let me go and check what's going on.This is natural.

There are things as women that suppose to be natural because of our nurturing instinct. It doesn't have to be dramatic.

Was it the husband that brought up the topic? Was it not the foolish rebellious wife who has been watching Telemundo? angry

Misquote?

Hahahahhahaha!

The Bible references are there.

Luckily, I Use KJV when discussing... not open to misinterpretation.

Again, the Bible cannot be understood by someone who doesn't have the Spirit of God cheesy Just how it would be futile for me to explain the Quran.

Must every little argument end in insults? The worst part of this section is the unnecessary insults . If you don't pull out early enough better be prepared to baptise or be baptised with fire cheesy.

Why didn't she tell her husband that she doesn't like serving meals properly before marrying him if he won't dump her foolish ass?

I feel so much pity for this man. She might poison him soon, so she can have enough time for her other chores
