one of the ademiluyis should be the next king!
i have spoken to about 55 different kingmakers in the province and they all said the ademiluyi clan is the next in line.

It is 'efo' in ikale dialect. Of all the dialects, ikale and Ondo are the ones I love the most. You should see them speaking, with all the 'lagabes' and 'mewa' and 'kawa ke woli'

cheesy

In Ondo, 'come inside' is 'kawa ke woli bey

I just love the language!

I am very interested in learning some of the core Yoruba dialects. I want to learn egba, ijebu, ikale and Ondo especially. Alas, I'm not so good with languages, else I would have learnt them long ago

yeah it does sound like too much hardwork. unless you are teaching yoruba language and dialects in high school or primary school I fail to see the motivation. seems the whole nigeria is moving away from core nigerian traditions and getting westernized thanks to IPHONE and TECHNO PHONE and internet.

Mostly the internet. When I was young, I read 'koku baboni' and 'ralia the sugar girl'. These days, kids have iphones, so how can you expect them to appreciate their culture?

I think you folks have a dialect o, but it has been swallowed up by 'pidgin Yoruba' spoken all over Lagos.

yeah it is what it is. with every positive advancement comes a negative aspect. the loss of culture. but cultures are always evolving so we have to roll with the tide. nothing should remain static lest you become a prehistoric archaic stone age artifact in an evolved world. you gotta roll with the waves and tides grin
