dudushiny: Ok. Sounds good. Make sure that ecg is read properly. The malaria drug you are taking does have heart side effects. So, for as long as you are on the drug, do get checked out especially if still with chest tightness. It is also very entirely possible that the drug is the cause for the chest pain. Still do make sure your heart and hemoglobin (blood count) is not too depressed. Good luck 1 Like |

Xiadnat: Thanks ma!!! She said she had a d nd c around that time. The pain is in her left lower abdomen the left pelvic area and she did scan twice which they told her nothing was wrong that she should do hvs. And the staph and candida specie was what they found. Ma, do u think the pain is as a result of the staph and candida? Result: culture yielded heavy growth in staph. Aureus and candida specie. |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 7:38pm On Aug 30, 2015 |
bink609 How old is this lady? Ongoing lower abdominal/pelvic pain for 3 years huh? I think she has chronic pelvic pain possibly due to adhesions (scar tissue) from the D and C. Has she had any other abdominal/pelvic procedures or surgeries ? The management requires multi dimensional approach. But, she needs to be investigated to rule out other serious causes or treatable causes. She may need to be scoped or visually inspection of her uterus, tubes etc. Is she febrile as in fever or abnormal vaginal discharge? Likely not. The heavy staph isolated is probably contamination. Unless she is really ill, which I doubt. The staph and candida is not the issue here. |

Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by bink609: 11:37pm On Aug 30, 2015 |
Xiadnat: Yes she's 24. No other procedure or surgery. What type of test or scan can be done to ascertain if it is adhesion (scar tissue)? She's not ill but she sometimes has recurring malaria and typhoid and she dischages but nt all the time and it's nt smelly. What are the things to do to ascertain that it's nt something serious? Thanks ma. |

Need to see gynecologist for more evaluation. But, you can do: hystereosalpingogram, hysterscopy or laparascopy. bink609: |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 12:05am On Aug 31, 2015 |
chelseaboi: Maybe this individual has cardiomegaly on chest -xray. But, you cannot deduce hypertension from that. Perhaps ECG that show ventricular hypertrophy. This person need to get optimum eye exam from eye specialist and be screened for hypertensive and diabetic retinopathy. In addition; it would be prudent to obtain ECG, blood pressure and blood glucose (sugar) measurement if not already done so. Good luck. 1 Like |

Xiadnat:Thanks alot. Yea, I'm female. I stopped using the cream over a month ago and it seems like the rashes is spreading and I'm not using any body cream for now. They are flat and not like the normal bumpy rashes. I changed my soap but that was after I noticed the rashes. I'm currently using a triple action cream (anti-fungal, anti-bacteria and anti-irritant) been using it for like two weeks now and I'm not noticing any change. Could it be something serious? |

Good evening doctor, please I need your advice, I am in my early thirties and I have been having pains in my bones especially my pelvic bones. When ever I walk a considerable distance I start feeling pains in my pelvic bones. I have taken diclofenac. I feel I don't have strong bones. What can I take to strengthen my bones? |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 11:50am On Sep 04, 2015 |
feistyoly: Do you have itching with the rash? Any other symptoms you get at all? If the cream isn't working, stop it. Is anyone else in your contact, household etc have the rash? I think it is harmless rash. It's probably some irritant you are not aware of yet. Do you have long artificial hair? Regards. |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 11:54am On Sep 04, 2015 |
rachie97: Any difficulty or painful urination? How is your menstruation? Pelvic pain in non sexually active persons, I would think fibroid or endometriosis. See a gynecologist for evaluation. Regards |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 11:57am On Sep 04, 2015 |
sureguy02: I think you likely have a nerve impingement or sciatica. Does pain shoot down the leg or do something for me: lie down and raise one of your legs one at a time as far back as you can towards your head, see if you feel pain shooting down leg. Is the pain better when you are leaning forward and worse with leaning back. Try those two motions and let me know what you feel. Report back. Management is via back stretch exercises and pain management. Regards |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 11:58am On Sep 04, 2015 |
kudibaby: This could be indicative of electrolyte imbalance specifically potassium. I would recommend two things: 1. Drink plenty of water before and after taking banana. See if it helps. 2. Do get a chemistry set that outlines your electrolytes including potassium, calcium and the like. |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 12:06pm On Sep 04, 2015 |
ohaddy: Early 30s and osteoporosis should not be unless if inclined genetically or acquired. Do you have family history of early osteoporosis. Are you on an medication, supplements such as OCP, steroid? Is it only pelvic pain? Do you have any medical condition you know such as diabetes or sickle cell? Any other symptoms at all you feel or see? Sometimes medical conditions such as hypercortiso.l can cause weak bones. It could be from you hips in case of diabetes and sickle cell complications. Have you had any injuries in the past. Are you sexually active? You need to make sure it is nothing much more serious or manifestation of a systemic problem such as cancer metastasis. What is your weight or body mass index? Are you super thin? Loosing weight? If you feel it is due to weak bones, I recommend getting DEXA scan to scan your bones or get bone x-ray to screen your bones. You could also obtain blood levels of your calcium, thyroid hormone, cortisol levels. See a doctor for those. If you feel you need calcium, try a multivitamin that has daily recommended values of calcium first. If per tests, you are determined to be low calcium and ruled out other possible issues, then you can get prescription strength calcium to build your bone up and possibly other medication to prevent loss. Add strength and resistance exercises--it helps. Regards |

Xiadnat: Thanks for your response. My leg can't even go anywhere close to my head while lying down. The pain is unbearable. Also, it gets better when i lean forward. Regards |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 5:06pm On Sep 04, 2015 |
sureguy02: Ok. Apply heat/ice pack to affected area, can alternate between heat and ice or stick to whichever relieves pain better. You can make this up if you cannot purchase one. Just put ice in a bag, wrap with towel and dab on affected area. Can do same with heated towel etc. Do these for 20 minutes at least 2 times a day. Take over the counter pain reliever such as naproxen, ibuprofen or tramadol (prescription if NSAIDs not working well). Your other options if simple OTC not working are: tramadol, oral or injection steroids (but need to visit a doc for this). When acute pain is relieved, try back strengthening exercise (google this) and stay off prolong bed rest as it doesn't help. If pain persists more than 2 weeks, or you experience urinary or bowel movement issues, severe unbearable pain, no sensation in legs etc, then please proceed to urgent care center near you for urgent evaluation and treatment. This just means the nerve impingement is likely close to your spinal cord--not good at all. In any case, if pain persists past a month for sure, do visit a doc for further evaluation to rule out more serious causes of back pain. Regards |

Xiadnat:thanks a lot Dr for your reply. pls what is a chemistry set and is there any cause for alarm due to the deficiency of the potassium ,calcium electrolyte. |

Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 6:36pm On Sep 04, 2015 |
kudibaby: I mean chemistry profile--is a lab test that shows things like calcium, potassium, magnesium etc and for some, glucose (sugar). It can mean or spell dire consequences if not attended to. It depends on the cause. It can be due to potassium deficiency or in excess, or other cause. Also, if this ache keeps occurring either during banana intake or any other time, or you feel any other symptoms, you need to visit a doc. I am assuming you have nothing more to tell me about you regarding this case. I am only operating on what you have told me so far. Take care |

Xiadnat:Thanks a lot Dr may God bless you, actually I am having fibroids and a cyst am also TTC,could this be the cause.I feel this pain mostly in the right part of my body,it ache more in the thigh, and and shoulder. |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Nobody: 11:30am On Sep 05, 2015 |
Kudibaby: Perhaps. What fertility drugs are you taking for TTC if any. Pain from fibroids and cysts should be in the pelvis, perhaps referred pain to thigh, but the shoulder one beats me. Possibly side effects of drugs you are taking. I would still recommend checking your chemistry profile just to be sure. I wish you well. |

Xiadnat: Thank you doctor No, we don't have it in our family history that am aware of. Am not diabetic nor do I have sickle cell. Am not on any medication or supplements. I am 5ft 4 inches and I weigh 45kg . Should I be taking blood tonic? Because I was told that as a woman I need to be taking it. |
