That department is infact short of academic staff as most of them at the time i was the there had only masters and still very few. The senior lecturers were all out hustling for cash. The department is always empty and admission to it is very small as of then. Their classes are also few.
tor that defines y the young proff grew that fast then. PhD to Hod, now proff to head of institute... God help us grow ds much too.

No need belabouring the obvious. In university of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), there are many full fledged HODs who are not professors. There are even few HODs who are working hard to get their PhD, they only have their masters but they are senior lecturers who have published widely. In UNN, I know of a Dean of faculty who is not a professor, though he has a PhD. It is same situation in many state uni.

The attack on this guy and ABU is unnecessary.

check out the current V.C of unizik profile. Prof Joseph Ahaneku who became a prof of chemical pathology at 35 (the youngest in Africa at that time).

Am not hating or anything but why are ppl celebrating him? He did both his msc and phd outside last dn five years.... If he had done it in abu he will still be doing phd by now.sch is fast outside and the pressure is less on student there
