There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure. MATHEMATICS is no beans..for this reason, we need to start preparing like the exam is holding tommorow. I hereby call on our tutors Geofavor, ProphetUdeme and Orezy5 to please open the floor for us. 1 Like |

All these mathematics makes me look as if I never passed through the wall of secondary school I don't just get it. @Umartins Thank you very much, please don't relent in your effort. I'll by fire by force practice this Subject against next year. Here is another question: What is the answer when 2434 6 is divided by 42 6 ? I tried using the logic you've been using but it doesnt work with the above question. Perhaps I'm missing some law guiding this particular subject. Please elaborate. |
Re: Nairaland 2016 Jamb Tutorial Classroon [mathematics Thread] by Umartins1(m): 9:09pm On Sep 05, 2015 |
HomoSapiien I tried using the logic you've been using but it doesnt work with the above question. Perhaps I'm missing some law guiding this particular subject. Please elaborate. You are to change both to base ten and then divide. It is now left on what the question says you should do. If you're to leave your answer in base six, you have to convert back to base six.

Re: Nairaland 2016 Jamb Tutorial Classroon [mathematics Thread] by Geofavor(m): 9:14pm On Sep 05, 2015 |
HomoSapiien:I can't type now. but the easiest way to do this is to first convert the two numbers to base10. then divide normally. after you get your answer, convert it back to base6. 1 Like 1 Share |

Orezy5: *************solution**************** 3x - y = 3 ------ (i) 9x2 - y2 ------- (ii) from equation (i); 3x - 3 = y ------ (iii) substitute (3x - 3) for y in equation (ii) :. 9x2 - (3x - 3)2 = 45 9x2 - [(3x)2 - 2(3x)(3) + 32] = 45 9x2 - [9x2 - 18x + 9] = 45 9x2 - 9x2 + 18x - 9 = 45 18x = 45 + 9 18x = 54 x = 54/18 x = 3 substitute 3 for x in equation (iii) :. 3(3) - 3 = y 9 - 3 = y y = 6 thus, x = 3, y = 6 2 Likes 1 Share |
