SHOCKING!!! The Etymological Origins Of The Word Nigeria by wisdomguy4u(m): 9:48am On Sep 09, 2015 |
The name Niger-ia, or Nigger area was given to that country by the mistress of one of the most evil- minded genocidal murders of Muurs named Lord (Bloodclat!) Lugard. Flora Shaw later Flora Lugard named the areas that fell within the Muurish Sokoto Emirate and Muurish Benin, Nigger area. Nigeria. She claimed she got the the name from the Niger River. It was supposed to mean the area around the Niger River. N’jer as I understand it, is the Tamazight (Berber) word for any river. Niger as we all know is also the Latin word for black. Nigeria, is the most populated African country of today. We know that the genocidal murders and slavers would have meant to utilize the Latin root (nigers) niggers, to designate Nigeria, the home of the largest population of African slaves, rather than just the Berber word N’jer which refers to any flowing body of water. For your information, the southern coasts of Nigeria was called the slave coast by the Western world for 200 years. Just like you had an area called Gold Coast (where they took gold), another area called the Grain Coast where they traded grains, and another area called the Ivory Coast where they stole ivories off the elephants they butchered, there was also an area called Slave Coast where they took slave. That area is the present day Southern Nigeria. From the Slave Coast, they shipped those that left for Brazil, Argentina, Haiti, Jamaica and the rest of the Carribeans, United States and Canada. The name they called the so-called slaves they took to the Americas was Niggers! Now that same Slave Coast area where they used to take the Niggers is now coincidentally called Niger-ia or Niger-area (acording to the official His-tory). To my mind, it decodes as Nigger-area. Is that not self explicating? The River is the southern Nigeria was name Niger river as in a river closed to the slave coast. Tell me what you think. In Nigger-area they still treat Muurs like Niggers to this day! Through their police and army which call the citizens of the land “bloody civilians” like in “bloody niggers.” Experts in the science of torture and brutality. The Boule society members and the international Free masonic brotherhood rule there up to this day through their colonial police, their expeditionary armed forces, their made-up western styled government, courts, prisons and firing squads. A reign of fear, over the Niggers. Wake up all ye Rases and Muurs of El Maghrib and see true vision with your inner eye. www.africaresource.com/rasta/sesostris-the-great-the-egyptian-hercules/the-etymological-origins-of-the-word-nigeria-lion/ In the contemporary United States, using the word "Nigger" or "Niger" to address a black is taboo, and had be replaced with the compound blanket term "African American". In A Dictionary of Modern English Usage (1926), H. W. Fowler states that applying the word nigger to "others than full or partial negroes" is "felt as an insult by the person described, & betrays in the speaker, if not deliberate insolence, at least a very arrogant inhumanity"; but the second edition (1965) states: "N. has been described as 'the term that carries with it all the obloquy and contempt and rejection which whites have inflicted on blacks.'". However, by the 1970s in britain, the term "nigger"or "niger" was generally regarded as racist, offensive and potentially illegal along with "nig-nog", and " golliwog". https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigger 2 Likes |

Nigeria = Nigga area. River Niger had a name before the british came, that's my next research to find out. Lugard's and Flora's claim of naming the country from the river maybe true because the River was given a name to suit them. IPOB Youth 1 Like |

Please.. OP, don't be silly. Ever heard of Mungo Park? Ever heard of the Lander Brothers? The river Niger's existence had been well known by the Europeans way before Lugard and Flora Shaw were born. Please, you're claim wasn't well researched properly. Good effort tho. Lol! |

nigerdeltaa1: I rarely ever cuss people out on Nairaland but... You sir are an idiot! Please Where in my post did I say "Mungo park discovered River Niger?" Did Mungo Park give River Niger its name? Hadn't it always been called River Niger even before Mungo Park arrived in West africa? Besides, Mungo Park is alluded to ave discovered its Source in the fouta Jallon mountains. Apparently (from te little history I did in primary school) Legend at that time said that the river Niger emptied into either lake Victoria or the River Nile (I'm not so sure, it's been along while). Hence, Mr park arrived on the scene to see if the Legend held true. Ithink e tried unsuccessfully a couple of times before inadvertently meeting his death in Bussa. Meanwhile, what I was trying to pass across in my previous post was that the "Nigger area" claim about Flora shaw is absolutely falsehood. Simples. 1 Like |

c33b33: That area is also the sourceof ther Brithis investments before it was named Nigeria. Remember, the southern protectorate of nigeria was actually the main centre of operations for what used to be called The Royal Niger Company which was formed shortly after the Lander Brothers finished Mungo park's expedition and discovered that the River Niger actually empties into the Atlantic Ocean of what is presently Rivers state,Nigeria. 1 Like |

kannymoore: Hmm... True but I am more interested in knowing the native name of that river before the europeans came. The ancestral names of many places were changed by the europeans especially British to suit themselves and for their convenience. Thanks for your meaningful contribution. IPOB Youth |

theDEVILisHERE: What exactly is in a name really? It's river Niger...letit remain so. It doesnt add or subtract anything to the physical nature of the river itself. Afterall, no one isadvocating for the revesalof lagos to Eko or Benin Republic to Dahomey even though it's apparent that the country is nowhere near the Benin kingdom in actuality. |

Re: SHOCKING!!! The Etymological Origins Of The Word Nigeria by tpiander: 6:45pm On Sep 09, 2015 |
let's just assume 18th century west Africa just under the 10th latitude was simply called "Coast" and with various appellations to indicate region, eg slave coast, grain coast, pepper coast, gold coast, guinea coast, etc. These "coasts" according to the following map (if it's not fake), were under a region known as Guinea, every where else had names except for these slave raiding parts. Northern Nigeria/middle belt areas were part of "Negroland" and central Africa was Ethiopia. |

I wonder why the "Coast" had no name? seems like something fishy there. |

kannymoore: What is the meaning of your name? "Niger-ia "? Only a dog will answer a name given to it without asking for it's meaning. Niger or Nigger is originally a latin word meaning black or dark . In britain and America during the slave trade era, it became an insulting word used by the whites to address african slaves . Slave trade had been on in the southern Nigeria even b4 british colonization. Up till today, it's an insult for a white american to call a black america a nigger , becus it's just like calling him a black slave. The use of the word had been abolish and replaced with the name African America 1 Like |

kannymoore: The indigenous people living along that river definately should have a native name (or names since more than 1 indigenous people reside along the river) they use to call that river This native name or names were given based on their understanding and relationship they have had with the river over time due to them being indeginous to the area around the river This relationship and understanding puts them in a better position to name that river Lagos should also return to its indeginous name Eko Benin republic should also do the same |

kannymoore: My friend, if it doesn't mean anything in Hausa/fulani, Igbo, yoruba or other Nigerian tribes then is non and void period. The whites and Asian will never never accept our humanity, if we all cannot figure out what name we are answering means, while only the Whites know the secret behind that name, then, we are worst than slaves or robots, because the secret behind that maybe decoded and passes on from generation to generation to the very few elites, who have the custody of the interpretation of that secret. You can't risk that in this 21st century. The decoded secret might even mean "a race of people of said geographical expression to be terminated by a chosen futuristic date" no body knows, cos 100% citizens of the said entity do not know what's behind the name they are answering. One thing for sure, is that, that name has its root from the darkest chapter of human/African history, when black Africans are defined as 3/4 of human being of which the yorubas typify that designation. 1 Like |
