No theres nothing to be scared of. I just said be careful because I wanted to ask why you weren't going for practice but didn't want to start asking questions again lol. So I just used that

If I suspected anything I would tell you, trust me; don't worry

Lol, wow. Ok; you teach me how to boil rice and I inform you of the main Igbo dialects; deal?

But seriously central Igbo is the Igbo taught and spoken by all Igbo clans, irrespective of location. Then dialect is the Igbo you speak in your own hometown

Its like Queens English vs Pidgin
I laugh backwards in French

You are wrong o tongue

Hm! Allow me to school this gehl today. grin

Central Igbo is only recognized as Central because: thats whats been agreed as the common igbo
and most importantly: thats what those Imo state indigenes speak (most of them) and they are the most populous Igbos.
It's a thing of convenience; let the dialect of the most populous group be recognized as the 'Central Igbo'. I'm sure you can do the statistics grin

No where near the level of QueensEng vs Pidgin and certainly it is not considered the "most refined" Igbo

Yeahhh youre right. I had something about Imo + Abia igbos in my head but I wasn't sure and I couldn't be bothered to go and research it

It was a rash comparison. I was just trying to illustrate the formal manner of central (taught in schools, written in books, etc) vs local dialects which people tend to take less seriously (wrongly, IMO)

lol yea abia igbos lipsrsealed i love them ooooo grin dont call chinenye angry grin as far as the accent goes there's is quite infamous i believe

oh ok. I mean I think people still take their own local dialects quite seriously. I mean, my parents don't speak central igbo. Ever. Even when discussing with people from any other state, I don't know if they really modify their own to fit whatever's 'common' cause most things are similar anyways. The only difference I would say is when being taught igbo, people teach and tell u to learn the Central one cause it's less complicated and has a broader application. But I personally don't care, I'm learning my dialect if anyone cant understand me they can go find lagoon and jump in grin

Yeah so what im saying is the local dialect is jus as if not more important o. The things that matter in the Central are probs like the Igbo Bible and learning Igbo as a subject in sec school (which I failed btw grin)

Lol..I love abia...on my last visit I passed through Umuahia and there was a huge fight going on near a petrol station we stopped at...I brought my window down for 1 second and heard somebody shout "O GINI?!" and I just brought it back up..nawa grin

Yeah my parents never speak central either. I heard my dad speaking it once on the phone...I was so shocked; I didn't even know he could lol but he was talking to someone from another state so he had to modify himself grin Yeah that's true, I guess at least any version of Igbo is better than none at all. Lol why wont you fail when youre busy speaking speaking chop-chop Yoruba all over the place..nonsense cheesy

Yeah I would say I have always been actively encouraged to learn central but I wont lol, as you say anybody who doesn't like what im talking should go and sit down, how it take consign them..local dialects are getting lost these days because nobodys parents are teaching them for reasons best known to them.. angry
