See as she twirls this way and that Thanks to her Maker-her form is intact Season the ocean-let it simmer slow Settings at low heat bubble from below What shall our song be, Enchanter? Choice steppings are mellow and nice Flows to the beat in tandem and spice 1 Like 1 Share |

kr0ne: JayZ once said something. He said that rap is a mix of rhythm and poetry, and yes I agree with him. Good rappers like you have all it takes to be good poets. Infact, I saw what you wrote in the Greek gods cypher, and removing the ellipses and bar boundary signifiers, would make it a very good piece of poetry, sir. You could join this forum: allpoetry.com for awesome poems to study. It has some of the best poets in the world as members. You can follow me if you join, sir. My moniker is laykorn. 1 Like 1 Share |

llaykorn:See whining! Truth is, I don't really know the rudiments of poetry; the subject itself is complex and a bit confusing too. I've read a dozen or more of Shakespeare's novels. He used rhymes and stanzas most of the time. But here I see people telling me that rhyming doesn't matter in poetry. I guess you Literature students should know better. I'll join the site at my leisure. Thanks, bro. |

llaykorn: hahaha! most rappers fail to understand that RAP is an expression . You have to key in to every aspects of it . Well, I am more fascinated to poet and storytelling rappers because they input knowledge, creativity and life in their raps. Many rappers can't get in line doing poetry ,they feel rapping is all about battle rhymes....If a poetic rapper is dissing you ,it will take you moments to figure out. You can't go wrong listening to the likes of Immortal Technique, Killa Priest, Lupe Fiasco ,Nas , Kendrick Lamar ( I admire the technicality in his raps ) ,Eminem , Common e.t.c Krone, don't make me laugh(we dey follow your footstep) ....I totally agree with llaykorn about his comment on you though. Rebel, Coogar and Adanna are blessed 2 Likes 1 Share |

AllNaijaBlogger: When the mythical siren sings You will walk the so-called plank When love flies in on cupid's wings I ain't shooting blanks. |
Re: Might I Woo Thee? by AllNaijaBlogger(m): 9:44pm On Sep 10, 2015 |
firestar: Very nice but..... but.... It sounds more like a threat Sirens lure sailors to their watery doom. Walking the plank brings up the imagery of punishment. 1 Like |

Alexpissu: Immortal Technique is a favorite to me too. I was trying to explain to my kid brother today what real rap meant and I just had to use Immortal Technique's 'Dance With The Devil' lyrics as an example. Well, he's a big fan of Olamide and Lil' Kesh. And, you forgot JigsawKillah. |

Oahray:Thanks mate. llaykorn:Whoa, I must have missed that class, the only NPC class I learnt from was when Cisse taught tybur poem. I had a blast writing sex/e.rot.ic poems with it. I'll try working on one Pidgin poem as soon as possible but I don't know if posting here might be dubbed breaking a rule? I won't mind if Obinnau can give us a helping hand. |

llaykorn: Well, I haven't really paid much attention to JigsawKillah but going by his recent "flips" , he come across to me as a rapper who is fearless . Everybody, wants a pound of flesh of him ,that alone goes to show that the young lad is making a SPELL . llaykorn, I totally agree with you ...Maybe, your younger bro has been misled by the media.Well, Lupe Fiasco comes to me as rapper that gives me headache sometimes trying to understand .What is your take on Nas and Lupe Fiasco ? |

Re: Might I Woo Thee? by llaykorn: 10:10pm On Sep 10, 2015 |
kr0ne: Poetry? Complex and confusing? Setting up a punchline is 1000 times more complex. Lol, about rhyming. It's true that Shakespeare rhymed in his poems, but poems that don't rhyme will be called poems too. Most poems rhyme, really, but a lot don't rhyme too. This choice of rhyming or not that poets possess goes a long way in making us know that the essence of poetry lies way deeper than the 'foot/boot' or the 'ball/call' at the end of lines. It is an art that will succeed in passing a message and still be enjoyable even without rhymes. If your bars can still pass a message, make a meaning, and still be enjoyed even when your rhymes are removed, then, is some way you're doing poetry. |
