I picked it from the bank (Diamond) after getting a letter from my sponsor, which I took to the bank. Funny enough, they should have verified it.I included everything about the statement right from the first page. Maybe, it was an oversight on the part of the VO. I was first refused initially on the ground that my relationship to my sponsors was not established. I tackled that in this application that got refused again. NB: I was delayed after passing medicals. |

Cherokee:The Visa Officer is evidently questioning the authenticity of the Diamond Bank statement which you submitted with your application as it seems not to conform with the format which the High Commission document verification unit has on file. No offence but when you were obtaining the statement in question did you inform the CSR @ the bank that it was for Embassy/Visa Application purposes so it could be printed on appropriate letterhead and then dated, stamped and signed accordingly. 3 Likes |

Omonjoe:If there is no message in your MyCIC account then it should be the automated monthly thank you for your patience message from CIC, so nothing to worry about. |

@ teesboy, He was aware, I was submitting the SOA to the embassy. It was stamped & signed. The SOA was of the same format with the one I used for my first application. Moreover, I thought they have means of verifying SOAs. |

Please guys. I heard that going the online route for pgd applicants is usually less favourable. Please is there any element of truth in this? Or should I just go through the paper route? I have a scanner at home though. Thanks in anticipation. 1 Like |

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by teesboy: 4:34pm On Sep 11, 2015 |
Cherokee:Most embassies and high commissions now have genuine samples of various documents (Bank statements, marriage certificates from registries, School Certificates etc ) and the list is endless due to the high level of fraudulent documents attached with Visa applications in Nigeria. So when you apply for a Visa the document verification unit/department will compare what you have submitted to genuine samples and formats (watermarks, security seal, ink stamps etc) they have already before they'll even proceed for verification from the issuing source and in some cases no further verification will be required as they are fully satisfied your document is genuine. However, if what you submitted does not conform to what they have they will in most cases not even bother to verify and unfortunately the later was the case in your application. 1 Like |

@teesboy, I have only seen a particular format for the SOAs from diamond bank. Since, the different statement of accounts from two different sponsors from Diamond bank branches in two different states had the same format (am talking about my first application). If they had issues with the format, am sure they would have indicated that on my first refusal. By the way, have you ever seen any other format for accounts from diamond bank apart from the conventional black & white one on A4 paper. |

I agree with other comments that the VO was not satisfied with the authenticity of the Diamond Bank statement. However I think the VO must have been cranky and irascible. He/she could have just called the bank to verify it. Cherokee: 1 Like |

Cherokee: Have your sponsor get a reference letter from the bank along with the new statement of account. The vo is just being funny sha. |

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by thesoj: 6:11pm On Sep 11, 2015 |
I agree with tnuola. Also, get the bank to stamp and sign the new statement of account. In addition, make sure that all your other documents are packaged as credibly as possible. It is possible that the VO had questions about the credibility of other documents too but decided that the bank statement was the easiest document to pick on -- this is just a wild hypothesis though (a la HayqinsbFX ). @thesoj & Tnuola, Thank you very much. I would want to change my route as well from online to paper to avoid such issues. |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by teesboy: 6:31pm On Sep 11, 2015 |
Cherokee:just insist that the next bank statement is printed on the bank's official letterhead A4 paper, duly stamped, signed and dated + you could request for a reference letter from the bank as well which the bank will happily oblige and charge for it accordingly. |
