A stark reality that Gaal couldn't or refused to see. How Plato decided to stick with Rooney with all these shocking facts available to him beats my imagination. If Rooney doesn't improve for us, we are doomed. We can't bank on Martial to deliver the goods for us. He's unproven.

Neymar hasn't played any qualifier tho'! Brazil had direct entry to 2014 worldcup and there was no qualifiers for Copa America
#JustSaying

he knows this.....
but he would let his emotions get in the way of facts.
everyone knows brazil got a by-pass to the world cup they hosted and copa has no qualifications.
brazil gets to play a lot of friendlies sponsored by nike and they travel to all continents to face big teams.

if neymar can carry a whole brazil on his tiny shoulders at the world cup....is there anything else
he wouldn't do? at barca, he's dangerous. in brazil, he's lethal. it doesn't matter where neymar
plays, he delivers. the only rotten luck he's got is that he's surrounded by the worst players in
the history of the selecao.

From 2011 to 2014, the big chances reflected the number of matches he played. It looks more like one big chance per game even under Moyes.

The drop from 2014/15 to date is as a result of Gaal's philosophy.

But wait, it looks like the big chances (Clear Cut chances) are what he created and not what he scored from. In that case, you have to realize he used to play in the hole where he could create. His position changed under Gaal.

I don't even know the benchmark or requirement Goal used to draw up those stats, all I know is that Gaal making Rooney an out-and-out striker is a disaster. Rooney needs a good striking partner. I pray he scores tons of goals or else we go hear am wellu wellu this season.

Stop getting giddy with excitement for no reason. I meant I didn't investigate the index they used to arrive at the facts. Why I posted that pic was to blame Gaal for sticking with Rooney as an out-and-out striker instead of getting him a reliable partner. Did I even blame Rooney in that post or Gaal? You are too quick to defend Rooney that you don't even read one's post thoroughly again. Stop acting like I hate Rooney. I'm just someone that's realistic that Rooney has depreciated as the years went by and he needs a strike partner to excel. Rooney of 2010 is not the same of 2015. The facts are there for you read.

You'll see even Goal was blaming Gaal. I only blame Rooney on match-days out of hurt seeing him miss goals for us, but once the match is over, I rain abuses on Gaal. Gaal ruined us this season not Rooney. He let Falcao leave. Sold RVP and Chicha and laid all the hopes on a Rooney that's lost his striking abilities. Even Moyes paired Rooney with RVP. It was after Rooney kept missing chances that he realized his mistake and over-paid for an unknown Martial. With £30M we'd have gotten Lacazette!! Fúck Gaal!!

I am doing some investigation on Clear Cut Chances creation and conversion, it's leading me to some interesting things.

Wayne Rooney | Still one of the Premier League’s best | Stats Comparison
Mar 16, 2013 6,490 0

After Wayne Rooney started on the bench for the second leg of the last-16 Champions League tie against Real Madrid, a media frenzy ensued with transfer rumours aplenty. Sir Alex Ferguson was reported to have been unhappy with the striker’s form and although he has since quashed such claims, the press continue to speculate.

Of one thing there is no doubt, Rooney remains world class and a look at his stats shows just why. He stands up favourably to other strikers in the Premier League and here’s how:

Wayne Rooney Goal Statistics 2012/13

WRG

While Robin van Persie has received all the plaudits for his free-scoring start in a Manchester United shirt, a look at Rooney’s own goal statistics this season illustrates that he is equally deadly in front of goal.

Rooney is the equal tenth top goalscorer this season and with a goal every 137 mins, he is currently outperforming the likes of Theo Walcott (151 mins), Sergio Aguero (176 mins), Olivier Giroud (198 mins) and perhaps surprisingly, is matching the efforts of Gareth Bale (138 mins).

Moreover, of the aforementioned players, Rooney (53%) has one of the highest clear-cut chance conversion rates. Gareth Bale (55%) is the only player to exceed Rooney in this department, with Walcott (42%), Aguero (29%) and Giroud (20%) unable to attest to such clinical finishing.

It is worth noting that Rooney’s clear-cut chance conversion rate is also better than Demba Ba’s (47%), Jermain Defoe’s (40%) and his striking partner van Persie’s (36%).
Luis Suarez, enjoying a rich vein of form, is leading the way of the strikers at the top clubs with a conversion rate of 58%.

Wayne Rooney Creativity Statistics 2012/13

WRCThis is where Rooney comes into a class of his own because compared to his rival strikers, in this category the United frontman stands out.

With 9 assists this season, Rooney is the joint-top provider alongside Juan Mata, Lukas Podolski, Steven Gerrard and Walcott. Of course, assists can be misleading because they rely on the other player converting the chance created.

A look at chance creation overall, however, shows that Rooney is still comparing well to rival strikers in the Premier League.

Creating a chance every 40 mins, Rooney is ahead of strikers such as Walcott (57 mins), Podolski (53 mins), Aguero (51 mins) and once again, van Persie (45 mins).

If ever there was a game to sum up Wayne Rooney at his best, the 4-0 home victory against Norwich is probably it. With 2 assists and a fantastic long-range strike to boot, Rooney was the central figure as United cruised to three points.

In that game Rooney didn’t lose possession once and won the ball back from the opposition every 15 mins. Being able to match his attacking prowess with such poise on the ball and tenacity to win it back is what Rooney is renowned for.

One criticism that is often levelled at Rooney – and unfairly so – is his lack of contribution in big games. Reflecting on last season alone, Rooney scored two goals against Tottenham, Everton and Liverpool. He also scored three against Chelsea and notched a hat-trick against Arsenal in the 8-2 drubbing at Old Trafford.

He’s continued his prolific scoring rate against the so-called bigger teams this season by scoring a brace in the 3-2 victory away from home against Manchester City.http://eplindex.com/28614/wayne-rooney-premier-leagues-stats-comparison.html

Wow!!!

2008/9
Rooney's created 74 chances
31 minutes per chance.

This was the best record in EPL from 2003/4 season. 5 years.

You need your advice more than you need common sense. Between you, Elfeminate and I, who comes to other people's thread to wail about their problems? I don't even know my way to gayners thread because the road to there is as rusty as Gayners trophy cabinet. grin It's you and Elfeminate that carry our problems on your heads like roadside hawkers all day, everyday. I worry about my team all the time, criticize my players all the time; but the way you drag Man Utd issues with us, makes me think Wenger has frustrated your life more than enough that you are stylishly begging to join us. gringrin Also, what you read about are rumors. Just gossips from hating Assnal vermin-esque medias. Nothing to back up your twaddles.

Do you expect Dailymail to quote all the tweets of frustrated Gayners fans? Do you want the pitiable tweets from the frustrated gayners to crash their website? You sef pity them na. sad Besides, they quoted FEW tweets in tandem with gayners trophy haul in over 10 years now - FEW. LMAO!! gringrin

Nobody is as frustrated as Arsenal fans... and these two are a classic example of frustration personified hence sleeping on a thread where nothing concerning their team is ever discussed. Thanks for putting that douche bag where he belongs

I said it. 2011/12 we a better season than 2012/2013. In 2011/12, we were up against a super Man City, a team that were almost spotless in their quest for the title. United points, goals scored, goals conceded we did far better than 2012/13.

2012/13 City just got weak in the second half of the season. If they had 90% of the resilience and mental strength they used in pursuing the league the previous season, they would have retained it. Ballotelli was one of the guys who caused problem to them.

2011/12, injuries, David DeGea being an apprentice, SAF suspension of Rooney vs Blackburn, Paul Scholes retirement and his being rested at Wigan caused us what should have been our best season ever. The same team could easily have won the league again. Rooney had the best goals per minutes in th the league 2011/12 and now it is showed he had the 2nd best CCC Conversion rate in league 2012/13. With Welbeck and Chicharito maturing, with Scholes' return, DeGea and Ferdinand performance, we would have done better in 2012/13 without Van Persie.

You said I came to Rooney's defence. And it was about the stat you presented. The stat and part of your post blamed Rooney. Although the commentary in the article from goal.com said it's Gaal's slow build up that is strangling Rooney. Goal.com said, despite Rooney allowed to drop deep in 3 Lions, get still gets 5.1 touches inside the box per match despite substitution. But in United the ball doesn't come frequently despite Rooney staying more in and around the box. The midfielder keep the ball for too long.

And you blinded this part of goal. Com view from your first post.
