just insist that the next bank statement is printed on the bank's official letterhead A4 paper, duly stamped, signed and dated + you could request for a reference letter from the bank as well which the bank will happily oblige and charge for it accordingly.

Thanks, Tees

Oh online route. How would you describe the image quality of the scanned bank statement? Were all the bank logos and numbers clear and visible? Or were they excessively blurred? What scan dpi (dots per inch) did you use? 150? 300? 600? How did you compress your bank statement pages/images? Did you scan it in color or black/white or grayscale? (Pardon the infinite questions... but I've been immersed in image compression runs lately).

My bro is using online and we are working overtime to compress files without losing too much quality. There are some amazing resources for this, especially if one has access to Adobe Acrobat Pro. But still, it can be challenging to keep all the files under 4MB without compromising the quality (and thus credibility) of certain pages. IMHO, the image quality of the bank statements is critical and should not be excessively compromised (even if certain other documents have mediocre image quality).

PS: image and pdf compression approaches have been discussed earlier in the thread but I realize it is hard (yet doable) to maximize image quality while keeping file size small.

@thesoj & Tnuola,
Thank you very much. I would want to change my route as well from online to paper to avoid such issues.
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by Cherokee(m): 7:51pm On Sep 11, 2015
thesoj,
Thats the issue, but it is clear enough because I can view it comfortably & clearly on my phone.
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by thesoj: 7:58pm On Sep 11, 2015
Hmm... your phone has a tiny screen so some images that look ok on it may look crappy on a 21-inch screen. Try opening the file on a regular monitor/laptop and maximize the window; does it still look clear and visible?

Good evening house,
The valuable info people are getting here cannot be quantified. I chat with one Canada immigration consultant in Vancouver, said his consultation fee for 30min. Is 150CAD, I just laughed... And quickly remember Nairaland where the same and above his own info can be easily accessed.
Kudo to everyone!!!
Please I have a challenging case at hand on SOWP.
My lady got study permit before marriage bearing her surname on the passport and other documents, must she do change of name again in Canada to my own surname ( to change her data in the school from single to married...) at least for embassy purposes in case they want verify her status over there OR our marriage certificate, paper publication of change of name
and affidavit of change of name done before travelling in Nigeria will be sufficient to shows legal marriage connection.

Kinna confused here, other documents for application are on ground.

I will appreciate people idea and those that have applied via this route before.

Thanks.

Details of documents I submitted. There was nothing special about my application.
Mine, was an application that broke protocol.

*All CIC Forms

*Letter of Acceptance from University

*CAQ

*Resume

*SSCE Result

*SOP/LOE.(4 pages) I stated reasons why I chose Canada, the course, and why I intend coming back to Nigeria after my studies.
I stated my current employment status: Graduate internship, but I didnt attach any personal bank statement or letters from company.

*Dad's Sponsorship declaration letter(He stated the following in the letter with Amounts)

****6 Months Bank Account Statement. (Attached)

****Pension Fund Statement (I Forgot to attach this)

****Sponsor's collated earnings per Annum (No document to show for this)

****Rental Apartments with pay per annum (No documents to show for this)

****Landed properties. (Only attached documents for 3 of the stated landed properties, didnt attach for the rest)

****Nigeria Stock Exchange Value (I Forgot to attach this)

****Stated contact address of the Lawyer managing his properties

*Dad and Mum's passport data page

*I dint include transcript and Bsc certificate, felt they weren't necessary

I got to know about the documents I forgot to attach the second day of my application. Fear gripped me. My prayer points
changed immediately. I started praying for "Grace that breaks protocol" That was my prayer all through the period of waiting.

I kept wishing my application will not be refused, but hoping that I'll be asked to submit the missing documents.

But I dint get any mail about submission of missing documents.

Even after I got the call for medicals, I still doubted it. I kept asking my friends, if they wont ask for any other documents.

I can go on and on. Its just God.

Each time I worry, this passage comes to my mind:

"Matthew 6:27-28 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin"

I also read a lady's testimony here, that's one of the encouraging words that kept me going:

"Jaylinaa" said
""Basically, after I submitted, it just occurred to me that I did not put my payslips but I shrugged it off. I
don't think your application can be perfect. It never is. God doesn't even want it to be perfect, He
likes to take ALL the glory""
.

Also, surrounding yourself with positive minded people in times like this, will go a very long way.

The encouragement from this people wowed me!

They encouraged me.They told me I can do this without the help of any agent. And Yes, I did it!

They never gave up on me. They know me so well, I worry alot. I disturb them any time of the day.

BaaleOfMontreal,Realone1,Lanre, Folawe(Agiemars), Princess, Soji , Holu26. God Bless you all immeasurably.

Tnuola , (I sent this lady a pm 2 days to my application, asking for a sample of an SOP, and she did not hesitate. God bless you dearly)

Thanks to everyone on this forum. I dint read alot here, but I learnt alot.

I've Been a silent member since last year.I'll do my best to be more active.

All TRV hopefuls, the God that did mine ain't asleep. He'll grant you that Grace that breaks protocol.

For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry.

Dear house, to the glory of the Almighty, I got passport request today; but I already deferred my admission till January. I mailed the school asking when I will get the new admission letter to reflect the new start date and they said it may take some time to process, that I may not get it until October. So my question is at what point do I inform the embassy so that they can extend the date of the visa expiry on the visa. Please advise....

N.b. My application is online. Thank you....

Not really. He just didn't notice the update to the status on the right column of the page after logging into his account.

I got the 'thank you for your patience' mail yesterday that one said there was no update since your last log in. The one I got today said it has bn updated and I should log into mycic account.

It's nothing to worry about. It means your application is currently being worked on.

If you check the upper part of the page where you have such things as Application - Open and the likes of them, you will notice a change in status of one of the lines. Check to your right.

You really don't have to contact embassy. Get your TRV, wait for your new admission letter and then u'll be good to go. Your study permit will be issued at the PoE, and should cover the period of ur study, irrespective of the visa Dates, besides you can always renew later. So in my opinion, u have no problem at all.

With less than 40 pages, you should definitely be able to fit it all your proof of funds documents in a single 4MB document.

But you gast play with your scanner settings and experiment with different image/pdf compression algorithms. In the worst case, just scan using black&white (not grayscale or color) at 300dpi... you might be able to even compress the resulting pdf further without significant loss of clarity. But if you can scan in color or grayscale and still fit it in 4MB, then make sure you do that. Or you can try 600dpi in black&white. You could also try 200dpi and see how the image quality looks. You could also scan everything at 600dpi color and then use some software like Adobe Acrobat Pro (or Photoshop) to change to black and white and reduce to a lower dpi, and then compress further.

Hello bro, please I'm a novice totally & I wish to go for my MSC in Canada by next year. I'm planning to apply to university of British Colombia, Vancouver. Pls I want you to be my personal tutor. I would be glad if you can assist me on this. Thank you & God bless you
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by thesoj: 12:52am On Sep 12, 2015
@tnuola, I see your point however this CIC link states that you must be enrolled and be a full-time student before you can legally work. Starting work before initial enrollment is illegal. @Rolandy22 wouldn't be an enrolled full-time student before the official first day of classes.

Perhaps CIC doesn't enforce this, but it is important to know the letter of the law in order to prepare for any possible fallout.

tnuola:
Rolandy 's case is different, he can actually work full time once he has his sin number, he's to resume in january, so he's not breaking any rules.

The other person, is to resume already and wants to defer/take a break to work and make money.

I know someone that got in before resumption date and worked fulltime before school resumed in sept, and offcourse it was legal.

She just dey gist with me as she dey print my Study permit and my daughter's Visitor record (same format as a study permit)

It was fun and easy gaining entry and they were very much willing to assist with questions I had.
