Feedback on Eprahim schools oke Afa, Isolo We were asked to show the SMS invite for the interview as a pass. The school is undergoing renovation so everywhere was tight and the staff stressed. After hours we were given text books in subject areas and topics to write on thereafter we did microteaching. I did my best for micro teaching and taught without lesson notes. In fact, the teachers started asking technical questions aggressively but I pulled thru and nearly got into an argument about a topic. I googled at home and it turned out I was right. Later on the principal interviewed us and said the school was conducting the interview for the people that dropped CV with them and that as soon as the need arises we will be contacted. She also asked if I don't mind teaching primary school. NB. Please teachers should chill and try to be less aggressive during micro teaching. At the end they were pleased only because I didn't lose my cool or take offense. I was also smiling and laughing thru it. Thank you. 5 Likes 1 Share |

masties2:Welcome to the world of courtiership where people preach cooperation during the day but stab their colleagues behind their backs at night. Lolz! The funniest thing is that if eventually you get employed there, those teachers that tried to pull you down would be the first to congratulate you upon confirmation of your appointment... 4 Likes |

ravensckar: You're missing the point here. Those teachers simply did what was expected of them. During micro-teaching, the teachers ARE your students, and what they put forth are sometimes well planned. I remember my interview at Capital Science Academy, Abuja. The teachers started gisting and walking up and down in the class. I knew they were playing the part. I was able to control the 'class' and get my lesson through. By the time I was done, they all gave me a resounding applause. 2 Likes |

AnnieOakley:You're even the person missing the point here Ma! While the example you cited to buttress your point was 'systematic' her own case was simply a case of 'pull him down tactics'. If not, how else does one explain a scenario in which a questioner deliberately argues your opinion of a subject matter without any recourse? Moreso, in the words of Oscar Wilde 'Questions are tacit ways of revealing a person's true intention'. If you'll agree with me, there are many objectives for asking even a single question. A question that doesn't test one's understanding of a subject matter, logical reasoning, level of confidence, oratory skill, etc is simply a foolish question. Especially when even the one who asked it doesn't know the answer! See, they are two different scenarios! However, I just need you to examine both scenarios very well. Only then will you understand the premise upon which my argument is based.... Shalom! |

ravensckar: You said 'a questioner', that is, one. One person out of several. I can assure you there's nothing that happened during that micro-teaching of his that doesn't happen in schools nowadays. The pull-him-down tactic is more widespread in the classroom than some think. What happened during that interview of mine was in no way systematic. I saw it so. But it was the way I handled the whole matter that changed everything. Our friend above who went for the micro-teaching is no doubt an experienced teacher, hence he was able to win then over. Classroom scenarios can be totally unpredictable. It is the way you handle each challenge that shows whether you're a master or not. Some schools are bent on not just testing your knowledge of the subject but also your classroom management skills. What was done to our friend is what I did to the new teacher in our Department when he came in for his micro-teaching. I had nothing against him, but I needed to drill him and see how he'll handle the pressure. Now, we're best of friends and, funny enough, we've never mentioned what happened that day! I understand what you're trying to say and this is not going against your sound argument per se, but about how one should see detractors (whether real or imagined) as stepping stones to greater heights. Our friend did just that and he's the happier for it. |
