While the general elections approached, I was really excited about the inexplicable disappearance of the sickening tribal arguments and insults between the Yorubas and Igbos which was a previous tradition on this forum. Everyone seemed to have pitched their tent with either the PDP or APC and while it lasted, we enjoyed a season free of the sickening tribal slurs. I always prayed we wouldn't go back to that horrible tradition but unfortunately, it seems we couldn't even wait for the elections to be over.

The Igbos restarted by accusing the Yorubas of betrayal for teaming/conspiring with the Hausas to unseat their GEJ. This to me was a baseless accusation because there was never any agreement between both tribes to support GEJ. The Yorubas reserve a right to vote or support whoever they want; in 2011, they gave GEJ over 90% of their votes (even though they had their kinsman as his vice then). In 2015, probably due to GEJ's less than stellar performance, majority Yorubas (57%) shifted their support to GMB (even though 43% of the SW still stuck with and supported GEJ). I do not understand why this is regarded as betrayal leading to hostilities especially as no agreement was even signed between both tribes.

Then probably in response to the anger and accusations of the Igbos, the Yoruba Oba of Lagos made a misguided, inciting and insulting threat against the Igbos; a careless statement which may cost APC the Lagos state governorship and further fuel hatred between both tribes. Also, the recent misguided statement by Kunle Afolayan, a respected movie producer accusing and openly insulting Igbos of piracy has also not helped matters as it has just poured more fuel into a raging flame.

Now we seem to have been sunk back into an even deeper lagoon of hatred; the next dispensation of tribal battles on Nairaland could be really messy. How can this senseless battle be averted?

God help us!

All these started when APC came in. They incessantly sought for *Change. And I think they've started getting it.

Are you suggesting Nigeria should remain a one party state forever?... I think the 2 party system is very healthy for our democracy.

The real issue is, why do the Igbos and Yorubas have to fight all the time?

Everybody knows that I'm not. Tribalistic but due to the insults I received, I decided to take sides. The war is supposed to be between yoruba and ibo, why will the igbos start insulting hausa?

Of course, its very healthy for our democracy. Thus, the issues the Igbo's and Yoruba's are having recently is to simply attain political adaptation.

So you missed the part were Igbos were blasted for voting GEJ and not voting any APC senator?
Be honest with yourself.

If I remember right, it was Rochas (an Igbo man) that scolded fellow Igbos for not voting any Igbo senator/representative.

**grins** It is because of dunderheads like you that tribalism will never die. Just peruse the trash you put up there;

1.) You accused the Igbos of abusing yorubas after the election. When the world knows, that it was the yorubas who accused the Igbos of voting ethnically, when GEJ though an easterner wasn't even an Igbo man. You wanted the Igbos to vote against a fellow Easterner, so that you Fulani, hausas and yorubas can continually use that as a tool to brainwash other Ijaws, urhobo, itshekiri that Igbos hated them. I'm sure you would have been the first to open threads on NL with the titles "Why the Igbos voted against GEJ" and "Igbos hate Ijaws"> We denied you that luxury, and you are not comfortable with that. Nigeria has survived on divide-and-rule lies. You want every Nigerian to unite in your farce "One Nigeria" but an Igbo man uniting with other easterners makes you uncomfortable.

2.) Your drunk Oba threatened the lives of Easterners because of an election, and you dishonorably hold brief for him, while you stylishly refused to even condemn him, but condemned Kunle Afolayan, who was only following your drunk ex-policeman Oba's footstep. Like the Emir in fulani-led Arewa, an Oba is supreme in yorubaland, We Easterners are republican and all men are equal here. You see why we are fundamentally distinct and irreconcilable? Prepare for your Odua-Arewa country, that's the MOST REALISTIC THING to do now. Better late than never. Goodluck.

We should be United to give our corrupt politicians sleepless nights.....

Here in Abuja I see Senator's kids from the East(PDP) Hanging out with Yoruba Senator Kids(APC) ...Going out together in convoys to TheBank Club, XO life, Aramis lounge..etc popping good expensive champagnes together with so much enthusiasm.....

But Here on Nairaland "Na steady online insult & Fighting....

*Later Jare* make I go take one bottle of beer for Transcorp use style they hunt all the rich politicians daughters...

Didn't I just see the pictures of someone's puzzy on here, not too long ago? grin grin

I opened the section...saw that shiit, said, "holy phuck" - and went back to the movie I was watching. grin grin

That's what you should be worried about and campaigning against. The jobless political miscreants and paupers in this section are a nuisance. They have nothing cerebral to contribute - apart from useless epistles with no political bearing and can't stimulate the minds of anyone whose IQ is higher than 80. Then again, the average IQ of naij folks is around 70 - I guess that's why they have a fan base and they're allowed to thrive, with the illiterate mods dumping everything on FP.

Anyhoo, tribalism is here to stay - it's the bread and butter of human nature. If you don't like it, you can bang ya head on the wall for all I care. You can't kill the comic relief we enjoy, from the outside looking in, for being members of this forum. grin

Phucking puzzy pictures everywhere...what happened to that thread? grin Comic relief!! grin

@op

The Politics Section Moderation was goal oriented.

Make no mistake, I dictated the flow of discussions during 2015 election session and the moderation was near perfect and fantastic. No tribalism, No undue insult, no derailing of topics and no permission to use Nairaland to propagate unfounded and unimaginable lies without source.

It's not ordinary, it takes courage and focus to get it done without fear or favour amist accusations and counter-accusations.

It is a N200,000 per month job when the time and energy dissipated is quantified which Seun can't offer hence courageous volunteers are needed.

Very very typical of a tribally depraved mind...

FYI, not every human you come across is so petty as to descend into the pit of tribal bigotry like you do. I am personally irritated by the senseless and needless way igbos and yorubas fight foolishly everyday and being from the SE myself, I would rather call my own people to order instead of indulging myself in the madness.
