Is he the one that they crowned 'owelle of Onitsha' after his father? Why then will igwe Achebe grace the occasion?

Absent Local Chiefs might be gone to search for Zik Cure Herb.
They have since been looking for a Drug to cure the pains of One Nigeria which Zik inflicted on the Igbos and others in the old southeast region.

Old south east region wouldn't have been part of Nigeria if Zik had listened to wiser Igbo people.

Hardly any Igboman regards the name Azikiwe with esteem.

The people shunned the burial because thats the only statement that PMB has made about the SE about FG burying the son of Late Zik by completing the ZIK mausoleum.
The Late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe is not popular among the Igbos like Awolowo is to the Yorubas; he is an icon to Nigeria but not to Ndigbo unfortunately.

Like someone mentioned here Igbos dont respect you because of the family you come from or the family name that you bear; they respect you based on your individual achievement and how you have personally helped the community even in a small way.

The FG was afraid of being nipped by biafra and the clever Chiefs were afraid of being caught as accomplices in the biafra complicity. Cunning man died, cunning man burried him!!!!

They didnt say Ojukwu's son. They said Nnamdi Azikiwe's son.

nsogbu adi....you are correct anyway, the ibos are busy generating revenues for other lands to the neglect of their own land. Unfortunately, wars are not necessarily fought by those who instigate it many who loss out eventualy are those who had no idea why they fight. long live iboland!

BAMIDELE. The yoruba name was adopted because of success and knowdlege associated with the yorubas (jst lyk gej adopted 'AZIKWE'. )

I love the way Anambrans shuned Buhari and buried they son chukwuma. It is a mockery for a government that does't see you as part of its term to be more interest only in buring your son.
Is he a national icon? How does he concern us? Igbo people like complaining about everything.

OP thank you for this thread. I was driving through Limca road and wanted to snap and post the pics. But there was too much army and police presence there.

I looked in through that seminary beside there compound and saw that the burial place was so scanty. It was as if nobody was being buried. Only few people around.

But on the poster on the wall, I saw his name as BAMIDELE Chukwuma Azikiwe? ?

Anybody care to enlighten me on what happened?

Lalasticlala, Seun, Ishilove?

You guys mind doing the needful? No be fowl die oo.

Maybe he was born by a Yoruba woman

So "Anambrans" shunned Buhari and buried their son.

The also shunned HRH Obi Achebe in whose palace the deceased served as a high chief, and his cabinet chiefs.

Nice.

Exactly what i have always said about the igbos. That is why Biafra will never succeed and they know it.
They keep accusing Government of marginalizing them but i assure you they are not fighting for Ndigbo but for selfish purposes.

you cannot buy yoruba land. the land is leased at 100 year intervals. after 100 years you will be kicked out. the lease can also be terminated. you own the house on the land not the land. you can never own yoruba land. yoruba are too smart for that.when the land lease gets terminated your house will be bulldozed from the land and transported back to aba for you

D igbos are not cunny,

Zik fought for 1 nigeria, why is that 1 nigeria not here to bury his son?

I know it is unethical to say that zik fought against the igbo course, and now people want that same igbos to stand by his family.

As a high chief in igbo land, nothing stops the traditional ruler of your town and your fellow high chiefs from attending your burial. Which means, something is wong somewhere as we know that te azikiwe family are self centered, na only that thing wey dem think say ee good dem go do,not minding other people around dem and their opinion.

Cuny man die, cuny man bury am.

Forget all these zik of africa everyone is shouting up and down, zik didn't actually do much for his people(onitsha), upon all his power and fame, when u call illustrious sons and dotas that did great things for the people of onitsha, past and present, zik no follow.

An igbo adage says, "aku ruo uno, amara onye kpataraya",aku zik never got home,so the people @ home does not know who he was/is.

Azikiwe is usually remembered and honoured mostly by Fulani/Hausa/Yoruba for Zik making the oil-rich southeast region available to be part of one Nigeria.

Now, the Fulani/Hausa/Yoruba seem to have with drawn the esteem they have for the name Azikiwe - as they refused to attend his son's burial.
