Oghene! I will faint. Yet, if he says yes, I will end up feeling like the love is a one way thing since I asked him out first. The mental and emotional make-up of women is damn too complicated jare.

It is good that we are all enjoying ourselves on this thread. But there is one important thing we are missing- the issue of womens' rights and gender equality on nairaland.

From my discussion with Seun, he said that he understands the issues regarding misogynistic threads on Nairaland but then again, what were his female moderators doing about it? How did ridiculously sexist threads make the front page when we had female mods? Did you push any pro-women (I dont want to say pro-feminist) threads to the front page?

Ishilove i'm looking at you because you were a supermod when I originally opened this article.

What did I do? I used my POWERS to delete bile-inducing topics from the FP, I banned every troll in all sections since I can do that...and I pushed several non-misogynist topics to the FP since I can do that too.

I thought I already defined this, but I will try again. In the most succinct terms, feminism is equal rights for women. That's it, no over complicated spiel. People seem to get lost in the man hating drama, when the word "feminism" comes up.

So I won't be assuming if I say you believe in 'equal rights' for women?

The mods work with the available materials at their disposal. If the women want more pro-feminine topics to the grace the frontpage then they should create more of these threads that discuss women's lib. Back then, I tried to create a balance between those misogynistic threads and the so-called feminist threads that featured on the homepage, the misogynistic threads always carried the day because they were more in abundance without any serious challenge from the women folk. Users like missclassy created some really nice threads but it isn't just enough.

I see. A problem of there not being too many "pro-women" threads among the numerous misogynistic threads.

Good work, if what you say is true.

Which leads me to my last question- why didnt you create some pro-women or counter threads (countering misogynist ones from romance section) as a mod?

Mods can't push topics to the FP... only Supermods can.

Anyway, why are you even asking me these questions? Do you remember how many people commented on this thread before? Do you remember the one singled out to take the fall?

But, you do know, there were times when it felt like mods were being ignored, especially when we try to submit threads to TPTB? Sometimes folks literally had to mention a supermod's name to get attention.

When I make my posts, I'm not usually concerned with gender, in fact I've only ever made 2 threads that have addressed gender. One were I talked about a post I saw on Tumblr about some men's dating habits, with respect to age. The other coincidentally addressing the rise of misogynistic threads. The former got some attention, the latter's only real attention was the mod moved it from Romance to General. In fact, I remember clearly stating in the former thread that it would never reach FP because I didn't stoop to generalisation.
