Ishilove: You can't or you won't just admit it I think you really like him though. Well, don't be shy. We are gradually approaching the age when ladies will begin ask men out in Nigeria and publicly too. Can't wait to ask that your wise friend out, Ishilove. |

Ishilove: You don't need to dare me, I will ask him out with a straight face...but come oh, what if he says NO!! Oghene! I will faint. Yet, if he says yes, I will end up feeling like the love is a one way thing since I asked him out first. The mental and emotional make-up of women is damn too complicated jare. |

Standd, Ishilove, Cao It is good that we are all enjoying ourselves on this thread. But there is one important thing we are missing- the issue of womens' rights and gender equality on nairaland. From my discussion with Seun, he said that he understands the issues regarding misogynistic threads on Nairaland but then again, what were his female moderators doing about it? How did ridiculously sexist threads make the front page when we had female mods? Did you push any pro-women (I dont want to say pro-feminist) threads to the front page? Ishilove i'm looking at you because you were a supermod when I originally opened this article. |
Re: The Pandering To Anti-intellectualism On Nairaland (part 1; Misogyny) by AllNaijaBlogger(m): 11:03am On Sep 15, 2015 |

Re: The Pandering To Anti-intellectualism On Nairaland (part 1; Misogyny) by Nobody: 11:18am On Sep 15, 2015 |
AllNaijaBlogger: What did I do? I used my POWERS to delete bile-inducing topics from the FP, I banned every troll in all sections since I can do that...and I pushed several non-misogynist topics to the FP since I can do that too. ARE YOU SATISFIED? |
Re: The Pandering To Anti-intellectualism On Nairaland (part 1; Misogyny) by cao(f): 11:21am On Sep 15, 2015 |
joseph1832:I thought I already defined this, but I will try again. In the most succinct terms, feminism is equal rights for women. That's it, no over complicated spiel. People seem to get lost in the man hating drama, when the word "feminism" comes up. |
Re: The Pandering To Anti-intellectualism On Nairaland (part 1; Misogyny) by joseph1832(m): 11:32am On Sep 15, 2015 |
cao:So I won't be assuming if I say you believe in 'equal rights' for women? |

Re: The Pandering To Anti-intellectualism On Nairaland (part 1; Misogyny) by cao(f): 11:35am On Sep 15, 2015 |
joseph1832:Nope, you won't be assuming. Why should anybody's gender affect their rights? |
Re: The Pandering To Anti-intellectualism On Nairaland (part 1; Misogyny) by Ishilove: 11:39am On Sep 15, 2015 |
AllNaijaBlogger:The mods work with the available materials at their disposal. If the women want more pro-feminine topics to the grace the frontpage then they should create more of these threads that discuss women's lib. Back then, I tried to create a balance between those misogynistic threads and the so-called feminist threads that featured on the homepage, the misogynistic threads always carried the day because they were more in abundance without any serious challenge from the women folk. Users like missclassy created some really nice threads but it isn't just enough. |
Re: The Pandering To Anti-intellectualism On Nairaland (part 1; Misogyny) by joseph1832(m): 11:42am On Sep 15, 2015 |
cao:And by 'their rights' you mean what specifically? |
Re: The Pandering To Anti-intellectualism On Nairaland (part 1; Misogyny) by AllNaijaBlogger(m): 11:50am On Sep 15, 2015 |
standd: I haven't reached orgasm yet. What you say is good but what then were the topics you pushed? Let me see them non-misogynist topics |
Re: The Pandering To Anti-intellectualism On Nairaland (part 1; Misogyny) by cao(f): 11:51am On Sep 15, 2015 |
joseph1832:When someone asks you about your rights, what does that imply? |
Re: The Pandering To Anti-intellectualism On Nairaland (part 1; Misogyny) by AllNaijaBlogger(m): 11:54am On Sep 15, 2015 |
Ishilove: I see. A problem of there not being too many "pro-women" threads among the numerous misogynistic threads. Good work, if what you say is true. Which leads me to my last question- why didnt you create some pro-women or counter threads (countering misogynist ones from romance section) as a mod? |
Re: The Pandering To Anti-intellectualism On Nairaland (part 1; Misogyny) by AllNaijaBlogger(m): 11:56am On Sep 15, 2015 |
cao: babes, you havent answered my question AllNaijaBlogger: |
Re: The Pandering To Anti-intellectualism On Nairaland (part 1; Misogyny) by Nobody: 12:03pm On Sep 15, 2015 |
AllNaijaBlogger: Mods can't push topics to the FP... only Supermods can. Was I a SuperMod too? Anyway, why are you even asking me these questions? Do you remember how many people commented on this thread before? Do you remember the one singled out to take the fall? So he is your friend so he can't ban you na, but pls don't mention me again |
Re: The Pandering To Anti-intellectualism On Nairaland (part 1; Misogyny) by cao(f): 12:05pm On Sep 15, 2015 |
Ishilove:But, you do know, there were times when it felt like mods were being ignored, especially when we try to submit threads to TPTB? Sometimes folks literally had to mention a supermod's name to get attention. When I make my posts, I'm not usually concerned with gender, in fact I've only ever made 2 threads that have addressed gender. One were I talked about a post I saw on Tumblr about some men's dating habits, with respect to age. The other coincidentally addressing the rise of misogynistic threads. The former got some attention, the latter's only real attention was the mod moved it from Romance to General. In fact, I remember clearly stating in the former thread that it would never reach FP because I didn't stoop to generalisation. |
