Reporter: Why didn’t You celebrate Torres’ goal?
Diego Simeone: “Because I saw Messi warming up.”

If Simeone wasn't Argentine, He wouldn't say that.......
He could has well as sat at home and watch Bollywood or walk around the street of Madrid.....rather than go to pitch thinking of Messi....

Expect
turbulence
till
January 2016

what we
have
learned from
the UEFA Super
Cup against
Sevilla and
Spanish Super
Cup against
Athletic
Bilbao is – this
Barcelona
team lacks
depth. The
squad seems
too thin for
Luis Enrique
to rotate in big
games, and
that will be the
case until
January 2016
when the new
signings Arda
Turan and Aleix
Vidal will be
eligible to play.
Coach Enrique’s
audacious
rotation
against Bilbao
in the first leg
caused a 0-4
debacle
ultimately
costing
Barcelona a
trophy.

Sextuple is no
more! Enrique
started the
game with
Sergi Roberto
and Rafinha in
the mid-field,
but the La
Masia
graduates
utterly failed to
control the
game. They
simply
disappeared
against the
relentless
Bilbao pressing.
Perhaps playing
one of these
two along with
Iniesta or
Rakitic would
be a better
idea. It is a
mystery why
Enrique does
not trust Sergi
Samper, yet!
Alen Halilovic
could be tried
as well. But the
point is -
Iniesta and
Rakitic cannot
be rotated in
big games at
this moment.

The DMF
position is
another
concern.
Busquets is the
obvious first
choice with
Mascherano his
apparent
backup.
However, due
to the lack of a
reliable partner
of Pique,
Mascherano
has turned into
a first-choice
center-back for
years now!
Another subtle
problem with
Mascherano is
his inferior
distribution of
the ball
compared to
Busquets.
When
Mascherano
plays as DMF
instead of
Busquets,
supply to the
front three
often gets cut
short. This
was evident in
the 0-4 loss
against Bilbao.

Perhaps it is a
high time to try
Sergi Samper.
The defense
looks even
more flimsy.
The fact that
Barca conceded
4 goals against
Sevilla and 4
goals against
Bilbao in two
consecutive
games means
the defense
has serious
problems. Marc
Bartra in
particular is
causing serious
concern in the
backline. Each
time Enrique
gives Bartra a
chance to
prove himself,
he ruins it! At
the age of 24
he is no longer
a youth player,
and it is not
unfair to
expect man-of-
the-match
type defensive
performance
from him.
Thomas
Vermaelen
does not look
anything like
his old self at
Arsenal.
Dani Alves is
known for his
marauding
offensive runs,
but he is also
known for his
inept defensive
capacity. His
silly mistakes
were directly
responsible for
two goals
against Bilbao
in the first leg
of Super Cup.
Given his short
stature, he is
hapless in the
air, just like
Mascherano
and Jordi Alba.
Right now Jordi
Alba is Barca’s
only proven left
full-back.
Jeremy Mathieu
does not
perform
particularly well
in that position,
neither he likes
to play as an
LB. It is another
mystery that
Enrique still
trusts Adriano
Correia instead
of promoting
highly rated
Alex Grimaldo.
Many cules
think Adriano
has lost it and
should not be
part of the
squad at all.

Therefore,
Barca is pretty
much
handicapped in
the LB position
when Jordi Alba
is absent.
So, things are
great when our
best XI are
playing;
otherwise we
are very
vulnerable.
Given this
delicate
situation, the
Blaugranas
must be
wishing
January 2016
comes fast
when the
newly signed
players can
play. Both Arda
Turan and Aleix
Vidal are dearly
needed to
strengthen the
mid-field and
the right-back
positions
respectively.
However, Barca
must sign
someone or
promote
Grimaldo as
Alba's backup.
As usual, the
calendar is
packed, and
there are
plenty of tough
games. Not
only Sevilla,
Athletic Bilbao,
or Valencia,
every mid-table
team will now
take a swipe
at Barcelona
knowing their
weakness in
defense and
mid-field due
their thin
squad.
Therefore, let
us the
Blaugranas
tighten our
seat-belts and
brace for some
turbulence until
January 2016
arrives.

In light of the thinness of our squad, how I wish Enrique could wave his magic wand yet again and fringe players like Munir, Bartra and Sandro would reinvent themselves just like Roberto and Rafinha is presently doing. grin

I can't help but keep worrying for this squad. Barring injuries, our players could become too stretched in months to come and to think they would have yet another gruesome travel to Japan in December in search of yet another trophy, makes the prospect of imagining how their overall fitness and form would shape up come business end of the season, a disturbing one. angry

We couldn't really hope that the purshased players like Turan and Aleix would hit the ground running when they join the group in January. Naturally, they would need like two months before feeling pretty part of the ride. If our players are struggling as I forsee they would, only God can help us then. This was what collapsed Madrid season after a breathtaking start ,though theirs was largely due to a sheer stubbornness of Ancelotti to stick with one group. grin

Fringe players might be our saviour then but Enrique must begin to reinstall them now to save for the hay days because winter is coming.

I think only Mascherano,Alba and Suarez are the only players yet to be rotated this season..

Yeah but we do not have any quality substitutes for most of the players like in the midfield and attack. I just pray no injury happens to those players because it won't be funny o. angry kiss

As much as I didn't watch much of Zubi during his days, I don't think it's fair to judge a player based on trophies won especially a goalkeeper... lipsrsealed

It's also not fair to judge a player devoid of the trophies won. cool

Messi: 285 goals in Liga, 7 La Liga titles... shocked cool

Goals are useless if they don't win you trophies..

yes of course! Any other manager from another country wouldn't be humble enough to admit such a feeling. And wouldn't say it openly too.
