WailingWailer00:I hope you are not trying to deceive the gullible with your diversionary question?.... This was the findings of the senate committee presently investigating the expenditure. Besides, this is not the first time this story is being told. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/nigeria-spent-n2-7tr-on-power-in-16-years/110055.html http://www.leadership.ng/business/459605/nigeria-spent-n2-7trn-power-generation-in-16-years http://www.punchng.com/news/fg-spends-n2-7tn-on-power-in-16-years/ http://www.nigeriannewspapers.today/nigeria-blew-n2-7trn-on-2-850mw-of-power/ https://africacheck.org/reports/nigeria-does-generate-more-electricity-now-than-it-did-15-years-ago/ N2.7Trillion loosely translates to about $16.9billion dollars (at an exchange rate of N160 to $1 which was the highest prevalent at the time). Total therefore is: $16.9billion + $8.34billion = $25.24billion Spent for a paltry 2850mw Now here is what China did with an equivalent sum, 22,500mw http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2178951/Three-Gorges-Worlds-powerful-dam-opens-China-gushing-water-generates-power-15-nuclear-reactors.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Gorges_Dam https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8cCsUBYSkw 3 Likes |

Yet Nigerians support these thrives and celebrate them like they are legends all because of ethnicity. The common man is living in penury. We really need to change our mentality Bc poverty is a common disease and is affecting everyone. Let's demand justice and accountability from our leaders. See evil for evil and stop attaching sentiment to it. We need leaders with vision and integrity. Nigeria is better as one. We have lots of natural resources and can be self sufficient if only we manage our resources well.we need to stop being ignorant and stop being deceived by our corrupt leaders. They are now using ethnic segregation to cause division amongst us Bc they are no longer going home with fat pockets. Nigerians open ur eyes and be wise. If we continue like this hell would be better than us. Protest against this evil called corruption and let's create a better future for ourselves and our children. Stop being deceived by ethnic and religious differences. May God help us 2 Likes 1 Share |

Jonwesley:Stop being a blind black man.... Nigeria spent over $25billion in 16 years and generated only 2,850mw, Brazil spent $12billion and generated 12,000mw and china spent $26billion and generated 22,500mw. This is what any wise person should be ruminating on and not whether Emulewu took bribe or not. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Even while this happened under PDP, we have to be particular about who is who here. The whole $16b dollar worth of power contracts were awarded under OBJ. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7296466.stm GEJ privatised the power sector bringing in money into government coffers. http://www.nigeriaelectricityprivatisation.com/ Now the same OBJ is busy parleying "Mr Change", while most here have made GEJ the face of PDP. Make we dey talk true for the sake of our children o. PS : But some APC followers are intellectually poor. They are celebrating this unaware that this was a ploy by PDP to expand the scope of PMBs probe agenda to include the OBJ administration. And a dedicated website to explain Nigeria's power sector privatization shows GEJ changed Nigeria in ways only the educated will appreciate. 1 Like |

chukwudi44:Stop deceiving yourself and your gullible relatives, most of the projects were started and even the expensive bits like gas turbines were even procured but later abandoned to be overgrown by grasses. GEJ came in and spent close to $10billion to that sum even after the projects were already privatised but yet we still have some characters defending these charlatans. 1 Like |

Bevista: You sent PDP packing and then embraced criminals from the same PDP and even the PDP grand Patron of all thieves by name OBJ who used $16BN to generate more darkness instead of electricity in Nigeria is now a celebrity in this change administration? Focusing attention on the name of a party rather than the people in the party is also part of my definition for madness and amnesia. |

byrron:Sending PDP packing meant something a lot more than bringing a new party. It was significant because there exist now the fear of Power Change at the center. PDP was becoming lethargic and they took it for granted that no matter how they performed they will be back in power. If they had any fear of power change, I believe they would have conducted their affairs a lot better. Now, APC or any party knows that the Presidency is not a given. They know that Nigerians will give their verdict with their vote in 4 years time. |

Bevista: Go and read my first response to you and understand my point. The name of a party is irrelevant in Nigeria rather the people in the party are the ones that ruined the nation and not the name of the party that is why u have well known criminals moving from one political party to the other because people don't hold them accountable for their past deeds while in their former political party before becoming born again in a new party. APC can change their name tomorrow and tell u that APC is evil and people will brainlessly follow them in that line of reasoning rather than letting them know that they are the evil while in APC as a political party. Look at all the looting under OBJ who was a PDP president for good 8 years and today the same OBJ is now a saint and is now saying that PDP is evil so who is the fool here? The gullible Masses. |

obailala: Who is the blind man here, if not you. Do I need to go to brazil to do the right thing for my country? Who doesn't know the facts of the corruption that went on in the power sectorand that you are just clapping hands for what he said. My reaction to this is while he was the chair of the panel that probed the power sector, what made him to change his song rather than exposing what went wrong. He now want to say everything because he has been caught and to me, it's too late. |

We are all shouting stable better power supply now and shouting CHANGE, BABA has done it. It's is part of the works of 16 years of PDP. Yes , we can question the cost involved in the power sector but we must know , the past administration tried to improve power accross Nigeria. The dredded and corrupt PHCN/NEPA that terrorized Nigerians instead of providing power was unbundled, with all their power and threat and arm twisting GEJ still got rid of that sore to the country. Elumelu that is comparing the cost of what was used in Brazil to generate 12,000 MW and what has been used in Nigeria is puzzling but a closer look: 1. I found out it is not just the politicians,, govt officials that are corrupt ordinary Nigerians and private sector corps are highly corupt even worse than the govt in some cases let be honest. 2. There is something known as ROW ( Right of Way ). Compensation. Many communities see the power projects running into their lands and they begin to demand for hundreds of millions for shrines, crops, lands etc and even stop work and even after being paid still demand for more money this runs into hundreds of millions. 3. Sabotage, by people such as willful damage and destruction of the power lines. 4. Contractor - corrupt and incompetent contractors handling the project. 5. The whole structure of the project double cost is paying for things and overhead and cost 1 Like |

OBJ is funny, he said PDP is evil after he has chop his own for 8yrs , who are those that make PDP bad? is it not the PDP members? is OBJ/ others who are now in APC not one of the members? Bevista: |

mauriceju2:Our security forces who act like touts here in Nigeria, when they go out for international or regional peace missions conduct themselves admirably. A civil servant who resumes work by 10am cannot dare resume work by 8.05am if he/she works in a bank. The work environment, including rules and discipline is important. PDP was an all comers affair. |
