Greetings to d gurus in the House. Pls,kindly advise if these documents are all I need to attend d interview with:
1.I-20
2.SEVIS payment receipt
3.visa payment receipt
4.appointment confirmation
5.visa application confirmation
6.Statement of account
7.passport

Secondly, I am a filmmaker,I am taking up a one month digital editing course in a film school in New York Film Academy.I applied to two schools, one in Australia and US,I was admitted to both but I choosed to attend the one in US cos it's shorter in duration.I want to ask if it's advisable to inform the VO on the exact number of schools I applied to,or should I just simply say it's only one since I will be attending d sch in US.

Studying for only a month in America may seem like you're an intending immigrant. Australia could have been much more better. Are you married? Do you have kids? How do you prove that you're a flimmaker? Except some of these questions.

In other words, telling the VO that you applied only one school is bad and could lead to being denied a visa due to immigrant intent. Say at least three schools and then smile.

The list of documents are okay but make sure you go with some photos showing that you've been with some artists and actresses on stage and of course Nollywood. And try to talk about Nollywood as home ties.

Wishing you the best of luck!

I think you should also expect and prepare a good and convincing answer to the VO. to the question,WHY NOT STUDY IN AUSTRALIA? Saying that you choose US cos of its shorter duration might not really convince the VO.

I disagree - plenty of people apply for monthlong training programs and are accepted; it is a valid reason for travel under the B1/B2 visa class. Saying you applied to three schools when you didn't, though, would be a lie and could lead to a refusal if you get asked a bit more about the other schools. The best course of action is to be honest about this. If you really did apply and get accepted to a school in the US and a school in Australia, then you should have a reason why you selected one over the other and you should be able to talk about it.

It's okay. I totally understood what you mean.

What gets the visa is saying the right thing. Lots of people had been denied visas simply because they told the truth. I don't encourage lies though but when it comes to visa issuance, you just have to say the right thing and then get your visa.

You're right, saying the "right thing" gets you the visa. In this case though, what you are advising as the "right thing" is something that I would be inclined to refuse. The truth makes a lot more sense in this situation.
