@sayoberry, 1st, i love your account of "The adventures of the twins", one of the wonders of nature!! Born same day, different individuals ...God bless them... Hope for twins in my next life... Gerber rice it is @ 4mths then, do we stick with that only till 6mths or i add the multi grains as well?? Can we do Gerber till we are tired of it, or we transition completely to cerelac by 6mths... *sigh & squeeze face* My question plenty but no mind me, e yaff tey i did this. |

lamdec: I think its OK to feel that way ...its just how u feel. best to discuss with ur husband. I don't know when u gave birth but my guess is that its less than six to eight weeks. just give it time. then focus instead on d bundle of joy that u av. do things that take ur thoughts away from it. its just a phase. it'll pass. over time I believe u will be more comfortable n confident. don't see what happened as an attempt to violate ur privacy just a means to an end. hopefully ur next birth story will be more pleasant. and if u think the health care providers could have done things better u can change ur hospital next time 5 Likes |

lamdec: Sorry about your experience Oh well. Next time you can discuss your expectations with your Dr I was prob checked max of 3 times during labor although I don't know if you had complications or anything that led to multiple poking My advice will be focus on your baby. U have the most wonderful gift from God....a lot of women went thru more in the labor room and have nothing to show for it Also thank God u never TTC. Cuz that one na better evasion of privacy. Do u know what transvaginal scan is? Imagine doing that 7 times a month just to track ovulation and at the end of it all nothing Or even hsg. U will open vagina Yakata for at least two men during the process. The Dr and the sonographer while they insert a stick like object into your vagina to test if dye passes thru your tubes What of ivf where your eggs are havested. Or having your boobs pressed by your Dr to know if you are lactating cuz that prevents ovulation and hinders conception I can go on and on not to belittle the way you feel but just to let you know you have a lot to be grateful for Welcome to motherhood love...count it all joy 32 Likes |

@lamdec, Hi, in addition to what @Megilicious advise, talk to other women you are close to, their accounts will not only make all feelings of shame & violation disappear, it will even turn into a running joke... My husband & i even joke that if I'm asked to swear that "no other man has seen my nudity or touched the inner "recesses" , that i should run farrrrrrr .. I like the fact that you agreed the poking was a life saving measure, nothing you could have done about it. Take care, All is well... @Megilicious, Go find yam to pound & stop obsessing about princess , sitting well @4mths & you are worrying about crawling that is averagely 6mths upward... 3 Likes |

Thanks @megilicious, favoredgirl, @modath.. lol, @joyousf... I had my baby 11weeks ago. Well I just felt I should let it out, I would have been more comfortable if it was just my gynecologist that was checking me, but that same day was the antenatal clinic so he was busy and I screamed my hearts out every time. Maybe I should be grateful that I did not have to go through what others are going through TTC... oh well, what women go through. |

@Sayoberry, I kept going back to read your babies talk. It sounds like speaking in tongues. May God bless them. I won't stop giving birth until I give birth to twins. I love them so much. |

modath: let me say something strange... In UK, the midwives and nutritionists actually advice that we stop giving cerelac to babies ; According to them, it contains mere calories and it's better used during starvation when a child is not able to feed well According to them, If 5 babies walk through the door, they are able to identify which baby is on cerelac cuz such babies are usually big which we Africans equate to good living. #not necessarily. Again, they say it triggers diabetes at a later date. Tufiakwa. But dunno how true this is. So my dear Modath, me I no dey give cerelac oooo. At 6 months, my young chap weighed 8.5kg coming from 3.1kg birth weight oo he had bursted the weight chart and I was advised to look for a gym that accepts 6 months old. Na that gym I still dey look for since that time oo What they advise is exactly what nurse Kaffy is doing - delay solids till 6 months when he is fully ready. At that point, introduce him to real food but in mashed or paste form, from there, he graduates to full solid. However, the breast milk/formula should continue but of course, quantity would reduce from 6 months when solid is introduced. ***(caveat) i am not saying mamas should not use cerelac ooo, just regurgitating what the medical team told me. I have purposely refrained from talking about it before now make Nestle no come arrest me. 5 Likes |

@sayoberry - nice stories. I laughed so hard. God bless them. @ megilicious - you can subscribe to Babycentre's "what to expect". Every week/month, it sends you a mail telling you what developmental growth you should expect with your baby @ their different ages. Please read more on their website. It will stop you from being unduly agitated over nothing since you already know what to expect. You can also join your baby's community group i.e mothers who gave birth in the same month as yourself and compare notes with them. They also have the pregnancy "what to expect" which tells you what to expect weekly during pregnancy and what stage of development your unborn baby is in. After birth, it continues with babies...I advise all FTM to subscribe to it. It really helps to answer most of the questions we have about pregnancies, birthing and how to care for our babies. ***(caveat) I am not "campaigning" for babycenter oo, I am only telling mamas what helped me during my FTM experience ni 5 Likes |

Megilicious: You are worried about crawling at 5mths? Better calm down. The average age babies start crawling is 7mths...although some start before or way after. Be easy. Crawling is even no longer considered a milestone...cos mamy babies walk without crawling. 4 Likes 1 Share |

lamdec: I would advise you speak with a psychologist about this. We Africans are known to overlook issues like this, and sometimes accuse the Mother of being ungrateful. But no matter how we look at it, Post-Partum Depression and its variants are real! Yes, many women have gone through worse....yes, you should be grateful you are alive and well with your baby.....but that still does not solve anything. It's not easy to overcome issues like this on your own, professional advice is always the best option. And if you are spiritual, take it to God in prayers. He is the great psychologist, and knows you more than you know yourself. This too shall pass. 12 Likes |

Good morning mums right now I'm at a total loss of what to do. Im so sad and depressed. My 8wk old started purging about a week ago or so I thought. Went to the hospital and was given amoxicilin though there was no fever. The frequency of poop reduced for two days and started again on Sunday. I went to a paediatrician this time. He saw the poop and said it was actually normal but ordered a full blood count nd malaria test. After the results he prescribed an antibiotic and antimalarial. My boy has been vomiting, dull and sleeping all day since he started taking these drugs. In fact he seemed a lot healthier before the drugs. He is onEBF. Should I stop the drugs and hope that whatever bug he has will go away on its own? |

Kimoni: That advice actually applies to cereal generally not just cerelac. Anyone can google ' cereals for babies empty calories' to confirm But cereal is convenient jare |
Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by modath(f): 7:28am On Sep 17, 2015 |
@goosebumps, Go back to the hospital & let them have a look again, the drug may not be working for him. @Kimoni, Nothing strange about your advise, its cool with me, I don't even give my kids any of these sugared cereals that my friends believe make them & their offsprings look like ajebutter. I tasted cocoa pops when my older son was in early infancy in a friends house & knew it's a no no for us... didn't know about cerelac's high sugar content.... Thx for the heads up. |

@ Modath and Fexcathy - honestly mamas, it was an eye opener and shocking for moi. Agreed, I have always known that those cereals for toddlers e.g coco pops and co were not so healthy but I didn't realise the same thing applied to cerelac for infants. Full of calories without much nutrients And to think that these cereals are quite pricey though I agree they are convenient. Right now, i am trying to make cereals only for urgent situations. It's not easy but I am trying. Millet pap is a much better option cuz it's got beneficial nutrients. |
