I'll advise you call them instead. They might be too busy to reply e-mails on time. Look for their number and call them! All the best. XTIANmaha: 1 Like |

victz:Simply put Leadway is cheaper but u can't conclude it's beta than IGI, the purpose of insurance is not the certificate but in the insurance cover. In as much as, IGI gave me a colored copy, I'm sure the cover on the certificate meets the requirements of the embassy just as much as Leadway or any other. |

Eke40seven: Don't get carried away by rankings, Germans are really not interested in such. A graduate of TUM is treated the same way a graduate of FAU in job Interviews. And mind you, the prestigious feeling of attending the highest ranked school is just for you and you alone. Germans don't brag about that, instead they discuss about the beautiful environment in which they studied. How they were able to spend less, go on road trips because their study city was cheap. There are lots of factors one need to consider when choosing a school, if you have the luxury of such. And I tell you ranking is the least among them. 7 Likes |

willy2000: The QS ranking is based on academic reputation, employer reputation, student-to-faculty ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio and international student ratio. Why the ranking should be the least factor to be considered when selecting a university is beyond me. The ranking should be one of the most important factors. |

What makes you think that IGI's insurance cover is much more than that of Leadway? You ought to have examined critically and compared the insurance cover of both Insurance companies and also the track record of how effective they have been able to manage/handle insurance cover/claims of their clients. Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by number13: 4:29pm On Sep 17, 2015 |
twinkle1: Not quite. Academic rankings aren't vanity rankings. They're based on set criteria, and these criteria are in turn, based on factual data. The difference between rankings are how the data are processed into ranks. Universities that are higher up the QS generally carry out better work and produce better graduates (based on reputation among academics), and generally carry out more influential researches than the universities lower down the ranking. |

number13: Bro you are right.. It's indicative.. But when people start throwing lame arguments all because a school is few 10s or 50s steps higher than another because of a controversial ranking just irritates.. For example no german school has ever entered top 20 not even 30.. Will one now say all those top 30 schools are better than the top 10 German schools that the rankings arrange ?? Those rankings breed lame arguments.. So I really don't take them that seriously.. Though they can be indicative.. >>>and who sets the standards? <<<< 3 Likes |

Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by Oye50(m): 4:53pm On Sep 17, 2015 |
victz:Don't get me wrong bro. I was just trying to point to the fact that you can't say one is beta than another just cos of a little price difference and how the certificate looks like. I didn't even say anyone is beta but it's worthy of note that one is cheaper. |
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by Oye50(m): 5:00pm On Sep 17, 2015 |
willy2000:I totally agree with you on this bro. Infact from the little I searched I was able to know that even if School A rank more than school B, it doesn't translate that all the courses offered by school A ranks above that of school B. In some cases, some schools are best in Germany for a particular course even if such a school ranks 750 in the world. So let's try and check well and consider the view in whole. Thanks |
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by number13: 5:08pm On Sep 17, 2015 |
twinkle1: Yeah, as you said the rankings are indices of certain criteria. Since there's no 'perfect' way to process the criteria into rankings, that's why I said that the higher-ranked schools are generally better, and not - as you rightly pointed out - all better, or that they're definitely better for that matter. I was just disagreeing with the dismissal of the ranking as something unimportant. 1 Like |

Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by willy2000(m): 5:22pm On Sep 17, 2015 |
number13: So higher ranked schools are better but you still chose to study in a country where the most highly ranked school is not among top 30 in the world. What an irony Like I said earlier and will continue to say it, ranking is not and should not be a major deciding factor for choosing a Uni in Germany, in America or UK it may be but not here in Germany. 3 Likes |

willy2000: Choices are restricted by constraints. As Mourinho once said, 'I love the Eiffel Tower but I can’t have the Eiffel Tower in my garden.' With due respect to Germany, you think I would've gone to Germany if I could go to MIT, Cambridge, or ETH? In my case, the constraints were finance and competition, not irony. Even within Germany, I applied to just one school - TUM. Reason? Their ranking in my preferred field. The 'reputation' referred to by the QS, THE, and Shanghai rankings is as perceived by academics. I don't believe you're an academic, so the ranking isn't a representative of your opinion, and it's only natural that you may not agree with it. |
