Nigeria plans to raise 100.88 billion naira in treasury bills with maturities between three months and one year at an auction on Sept. 23, the central bank said on Wednesday. The bank said it will issue new 91-day paper worth 31.19 billion naira, 10.61 billion naira in 182-day bills, and 59.08 billion naira in 1-year debt, using the Dutch Auction System. osile2012: if you invested 1,000,000 with the marginal rate (14.69) your interest would be 146,900......but during the process you are debited 1,000,000-146,900=853,100. as your interest is given to you upfront....then your true yield= 146900/853100=0.1721=17.21% 3 Likes |

babakess:So ur implying dt his true yield becomes= 172,100? |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Lionhearted: 6:04pm On Sep 16, 2015 |
tziz: No sir. Look at this way: 853100 invested gave him profit of 146900. The % represents the true yield. I stand to be corrected though. 3 Likes |

osile2012: It's another way of saying that if you reinvest your initial interest, and the interest from that interest, and so on, you'll end up realizing more than 14.69% of the initial capital. That's the advantage of getting your interest up front. 1 Like |

Lionhearted: You are on point SIR....thats his true yield even though his face value is 1,000,000 he actually invested 853,100...because of the upfront interest 1 Like |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nobody: 7:00pm On Sep 17, 2015 |
I asked GtBank to bid at their rate. And they bid at a miserly 6.55%! 182days. Do these accounts officers get a commission for misleading/misinterpreting customers' requests? First time around the lady said they were unable to treat my instructions along with the batch, now this. |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by unite4real: 7:21pm On Sep 17, 2015 |
BoboYekini: This is fraud. Even fixed deposit gives more than that. Treasury bills can not be 6.5% even if you go with prevailing rate. Pls go to your bank and demand an explanation. Make some noise. |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by billtommy(m): 7:22pm On Sep 17, 2015 |
BoboYekini: So sad. I would call back my cash if I were in your shoes. Nonsense |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by quertyquack: 7:30pm On Sep 17, 2015 |
Hmmm... This is frankly unbelievable. Have you gotten your credit? Ask her to send the bank's stop rates to you or visit the bank and insist. Anyone working with GTB here can help us. Its the same rate nationwide. Something's amiss here. BoboYekini: |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by dejiotus: 7:50pm On Sep 17, 2015 |
BoboYekini: Hi Bro. I strongly suspect that the 6.55% is not annualized. If annualized 6.55% for 182 days(6 months) will be equivalent to 13.1% per annum. GT bank seems to be less greedy than Zenith bank from my experience regarding Treasury Bills purchase from both banks. I got 12.5% annualized on my TB investment (182 days) this week with Zenith, which is equivalent to 6.25% ROI for 182 days. 1 Like |

manie: I started bidding for myself for NTB on Wednesday....I bidded 13.2% for 182 days and I got it via Stanbic IBTC Bank.... Banks usually bid very low from CBN stop rate.... Don't know why? If you can study the last CBN stop rate, I think is better you speculate and bid for your self.. That is my little advise for NTB guys... |
