what Statistics? Taking penalties and converting them is never a direct straight line graph. It starts straight and then begins to curve downwards. Mr A takes 2 penalties all his life and converts 2,that's a 100% rate. Mr B takes 20 penalties all his life and converts 10, that's a 50% rate. Mr C takes 100 penalties all his life and converts 45, that's a 45% rate. Now who's the best? Id go for the guy Mr C. That's the analogy that describes the situation. Having said all that, Messi could still give up his penalty duties but it should be left entirely to him to make this decision. He's missing them yes, but he's still 70 % responsible for our successes. Any attempt to take it off him forcefully would be counter productive. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored like 3 free kicks from the last 77 attempts I think, but what coach would dare to strip him? Messi has earned the right to make that decision solely by himself. If i was enrique, it would be Messi all the way.
And nobody would dare strip him of the duty. Not even the coach nor the president, let alone the fans. He has to miss sometimes to remind us he still a created being.

I'm with you on that one. If Hallilovic continues to improve on his game and keeps his acts together, he's probably going to be the next best thing coming for Barca.

It will be a change of baton. From Ronaldinho - Messi - Neymar - Hallilovic - maybe Thiago Messi grin (just joking)
yes. . I have been keeping a close eye on him, this guy will definetly be one of their best players this season(I mean sporting)

Lionel messi should stop taking penalties.

Here's a few reasons:

He's
statistically
worse than
Neymar Jr. and
Luis Suárez. In
fact, he's 1-
for-3 in five
games this
season, which
is very
worrisome.
Plus, even the
guy who's
accompanying
him in the
Mount
Rushmore of
football
stopped trying
from the spot
when he saw
he missed too
much. Yes, the
great Pelé
wasn't the
official penalty-
kick taker at
Santos, instead
choosing to
pass that along
to one of his
striking
partners, Pepe.
Every miss
throws some
unnecessary
criticism on
Leo, and his
77% accuracy
rate might
come back to
hunt him one
day. It's just
simpler to
avoid it.
goal.com. I dnt think he should stop taking the penalties though. it's something he needs to decide himself.

Your team is 1-0 down in a UCL final and gets a 90th minute penalty.Who would you like to take the penalty?

What "hurt" could Messi possibly do to us? Miss a penalty? That's it?

A man who literally rewrote Barca's history, is the highest goal scorer in the club's history and has won 4 UCL titles. Just last season, he helped us win another treble (whilst missing penalties oh) and you're praying it won't come back to hurt us

Abeg Messi has paid his dues. He has earned the right to miss 10 penalties in a match. I'm 101% behind him

Some topics are just not worth Discussing..
Ya'all should free Messi.....Messi has nothing to prove to anyone again....He created A world of his own,and he resides alone there,Supreme! As such, save and otherwise stated by him and except in the circumstances that he is incapacitated to perform the above penalty taking function, He will continue to be our Penalty Kick taker..If he likes, let him miss it!!
Peace!!

Messi of course! unless he decides to reallocate that function to another by himself.

If he misses, so be it.

Barca are hoping they could register Arda before January. Officially the transfer ban ended on the 1st of September and as such, we are free to make signings from subsequent windows. Meanwhile, with the law in place in Spain, we could ask RFEF to register Arda since we already lost a player (to be out for this season). So with the law, we could register another player in place of that player.

The tricky thing there is, FIFA might wanna give us a hard time. But by defaults, there shouldnt be any problem with them. But since in recent times they have been hitting us hard, it might be difficult getting what we seek prior to January.

Cristiano Ronaldo Greatest Goalscorer In History:

Doesn't have 91 goals in a year
Doesn't have 73 goals in a season
Doesn't have 50 goals in a la liga season.

Stats since Cristiano joined Real Madrid(La Liga+ UCL):

Goals-

CR7: 287 (1803 shots taken)
Messi: 294 (1349 shots taken)

Goals from weak foot-

CR7: 47
Messi: 51

Goals from outside box-

CR7-43
Messi-45

Note: Here, I'm not even taking into account assists, chances created, and dribbles because Cristiano doesn't even come close to Messi and would be a pointless comparison.

It's quite embarrassing when people say that Cristiano Ronaldo is a better goalscorer than Messi based on what the media feeds them.

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored just 32 more goals than Messi in his entire career, even though he has played 155 more games.

So, basically for Messi to reach the same level as Cristiano, he has to score 32 goals in the next 155 games.

Ben Hayward my man. wink

"How he can score goals like the his stunning second, but fail so regularly from the spot remains a mystery - and he has now missed two of his three penalties in 2015-16. In total, he has been unable to convert 17 of his 81 spot-kicks throughout his career (a 79 per cent success rate).

For a lot of players, such stats would be satisfactory. But this is a man who is the finest footballer in the world and perhaps the greatest to ever grace the game. From Messi, the very best is expected and almost always it is delivered. Just not from the penalty spot.

But does Messi have 50 goals in five consecutive seasons? Does Messi have 30+ league goals for 5 consecutive seasons? Does Messi have 10+ UCL goals for 4 consecutive seasons? Does Messi have 50+ goals in a year for 5 consecutive seasons? Keyword :Consecutive.Ronaldo's consistency in terms of goalscoring makes him the greatest ever in that department. Not even the the great Pele with his 750+ official goals could match Ronaldo's consistency in terms of goalscoring at a certain period of time.Whether the team plays well or not, Ronaldo will score goals.

Of course he'll score, even if it's through dubious penalties.

You're talking about consecutive. Does Ronaldo have four consecutive ballons d'Or? No. Does that mean he hasn't been consistent? No. So you're saying Messi is not consistent because he doesn't have 'consecutive' records. Interesting.

Also see the stats between them in their entire career. Messi is just 32 goals behind Ronaldo despite playing 155 games less than Ronaldo, that speaks volumes.

We are talking about 'goalscoring'.What does Messi winning 4 consecutive golden balls have to do with 'consecutive goalscoring'.No, I am not saying Messi has not been consistent.I am saying he has not been consistent in terms of goalscoring compared to CR7.I based my argument based on Ronaldo's consistency over the last 5 seasons in terms of goalscoring, which makes your stat about Messi having 32 career goals behind CR7 baseless and irrelevant. Note :All records I listed were goals related.
