Realacars, valencia25, are u guys auto dealers? Or auto mechanics? Cos ur responses are well on point. Been going thru the thread from pg 1. Anyway, I'm lost between getting a Toyota Corolla (the one that looks like small camry) AND a Toyota Camry (big light) AND a Golf 3 or 4. I've got a budget of 350-400k and I wanna get one that won't send me back to the village cos of maintenance. Gimme advice pls, and possibly help me get one. Gracias amigos!!! 1 Like |

eduxerxes:Not actually auto dealers but we've experience and guides. That Toyota Camry seem like a good deal for that price, please check and query the seller for making payment. You can drop a comment on our site for follow up or send us a mail if you want us to source one for you. |

Realacars: Please respond to my questions na. How good is Hyundai Elantra, 2008? What's the fuel consumption level like? Are the parts readily available? Is it a durable car? Thanks. |
Re: Things You Must Consider Before You Buy That Car by Realacars: 8:15pm On Sep 21, 2015 |
ciwi:Oh sorry for the late response. Hyundai are better as brand new, the fuel consumption will be based on the functionality of the engine, parts should be available. Overall it's a durable car if you're getting it brand new. Cheers, and sorry for the late response once again. |

I was on my way to the supermarket with my brother one hot afternoon and I saw a lady battling with the bonnet of her car. She couldn’t open the bonnet of her car; so she had no choice but to ask the nearest guy which was my brother. No rocket science, no tricks, no damage; just a simple click to open the bonnet and this woman had no idea on how to do this and we pondered if she could do some other basic checks. Basic car maintenance is a must know for every car owner. The truth is that there is no real secret to getting a vehicle to last a long time. The key is maintenance. Replacing normal wear-and-tear parts such as timing belts, brake pads, shocks, regular fluid checks- water, and oil and brake fluid used is just as important as when it is changed. In this article, we shall share some basic car maintenance tip for the benefit of those who have little or no idea about cars. Engine oil Check the dipstick at least every fortnight and before any long journey. Have the oil and filter changed at recommended service intervals using oil of the correct specification. High oil consumption can indicate engine problems. Water Check the coolant level regularly and top up as necessary – but only when the engine is cold. Have the antifreeze concentration checked before winter. Antifreeze prevents the build-up of corrosion within the cooling system as well as stopping the coolant freezing so is important all year round. Wipers Wiper blades wear down over time and smear the windscreen if they become worn. Replace them at least once a year for best performance. Windscreen Check regularly for stone damage as this can impair vision or distract attention. Minor chips can grow and crack the glass, but many can be repaired by a windscreen specialist. Lights Check all lights weekly. Don’t forget indicators, brake and fog lights. Clean lights regularly. In bad weather wipe them over with a damp cloth during driving breaks. Tyres/Wheels Know the correct tyre pressures for your car and check them at least every two weeks using a good-quality gauge. Check tyre tread and condition – look for cuts on sidewalls. If any of the tyres need regular top-ups, it may have a slight puncture. Don’t forget to check the spare as well. Inspect, clean, and repack wheel bearings with wheel bearing grease according to service intervals. Wheel bearings and grease are inexpensive compared to spindle and hub replacement, or liberated wheels rolling down the road ahead of you. Toolkit Check the handbook for the location of the basic toolkit for the car that should contain at least a jack and wheel removal tools. Familiarize yourself with the jacking points used to lift the car safely. If locking wheel nuts are fitted make sure that the toolkit includes the key or removal tool. Electrical If you’re going to do any work on your car involving the electrical system, disconnect the battery first. To do this, loosen the connector for the negative/ground terminal first to avoid an electrical short or sparks, and wiggle the terminal cap off. Use a wire-tie or similar to tie the cable back out of the way. If you need to take the battery out, you can now take off the positive connector. To reconnect, connect the positive terminal first, and the negative second – the reverse of removal, and for the same reasons. Body Care Nothing keeps paint looking good and protected like a coat of quality wax. Apply wax at least every six months. Protect the interior plastic by parking the vehicle in the shade, using a window deflector screen, and applying a UV protectant to prevent the plastic and vinyl from drying out.
