This is not a good sign: 7 days (5 working days) is too short, no request for insurance.
Now is the time to act fast. Think back, how was your interview? Are you going for BSc or MSc? If it's MSc, is the course related to your first degree? Are you using blocked account or sponsor? Did you (or your sponsor if applicable) give them any red flags?
Think about all these now so that when you get to the Consulate General tomorrow (except you're outside Lagos, there's no excuse not to go there tomorrow - No time), you'll know how to tackle the appeal, assuming it will be needed (I pray it's not, but I think it is a rejection)

Pls may i ask, when applying u wanna choose a sponsor, must be ur parent, family friend or an organisation. Pls enligthen me more on dis.....danke

I had my interview last week, it was the shortest interview ever! it didn't even last up to 5 minutes. Not even a single question about Deutschland nor reason for study, nor a single word on means of sponsorship as so much expected. Only ask of my qualifications, university, date obtained and place of work. After answering yes to whether i ll like to continue with my work on return she stamped and returned my passport, ending the discussion with a reassuring good bye. Even the security men on duty were surprised to see me just enter and come out that soon. To me the only explanation to it is simply "divine favor" nothing more nothing less.

Congrat to everyone who has gotten their visa and for those who arrived safely in german.. We thank God for a safe trip

I travelled on Sunday with air maroc. Its was not a bad flight. Flight was on time in Lagos - Cassablanca

In Casablanca it was delayed due to technical difficulties.. actually due to cabin control temperature.

Anyway the flight was smooth.

I am heading to Paderborn in NRW. However, spending 7 days in Berlin first. It was not my first time in Berlin Tegal..though I got someone waiting for me.

If its your first time.. please pay attention to details and signs.. some signs are in English. Have a simple dictionary with you just incase some details are written in Deutsch. it will help you not roaming around or wasting time. Best also ask question..

My story at Lagos Airport

I carried almost all sort of food items and other medameda

garri
egusi ((dont ground all only the ones you can use in 1 month or less. the taste will change if it is blended. i heard adding some pepper will help to preserve aít)
ogbono (dont ground all only the ones you can use in 1 month or less. it gets bad easily except you get techniques to preserve am)
dried fish - if possible i go carry smoke or fresh fish lol
palm oil
dried ugwu
grounded peppers
grounded crayfish
archi
dried bitter leave
dried okazi
aboliki - lol my guy advice me to carry am for cold
stock fish
indomie - naija indomie na one and only
pepper soup spice
grounded elubor
tyme
curry

and a lot more...

you can go with beans.. use same techniques below to add it later to your bag - in my case my beans is already in Germany

dont carry rice or vegetable oil.. its cheaper there

one bag loaded with food stuff plus another with my wares.. my hand bag contains my files, lapi,, etc

Airmaroc allows 23kg x2 plus a hand luggage..
Nigerians sha.. some carry 5 bags as hand luggage

first thing make sure you arrange your bag wella and measure your luggage. use the check in counter weighing machine for airlines not open yet. if you are much in time you will be able to do this. Reason is somne airline staff like air marroc, recalibrate the machine or don’t reset it and tells you your luggage exceed the weight. so you give some tip.. do it your self before.

Note if your luggage exceed with little digit is allowed.. like if maximum is 23kg.. you can have 23,6kg

Now my experience with immigration, custom and other staffs

I didn’t have any problem going through ticket check in

There was one guy also with a student visa going - This guy na ghost for nairaland though

The guys who were supposed to validate your ticket or check it initially would ask mostly those with first time visa where you are going... BTA.. ETC.. please note e no concern them. theirs should just be the ticket.

They need just your passport to identify you and check if it correspond to whats on your ticket.

If you have a one way ticket it also should not be a problem - I used a one way ticket

However make sure you got all possible document in your hand luggage ready. They are mostly looking for tips..

if they asked for BTA or whatever.. just say you will use your ATM. if they insist stand on your ground

As for custom the first guys would ask you to open your bag and say what do you have there..

I told them i have food stuff for my personal consumption.. I am strictly no bribe policy guy,,

he told me i have to give them something all else they will send me to their boss sitting by the side and she will demand I quarantine my food items or package well.

i refuse.. still insist its not written anywhere and my country of destination did not blacklist any of this item. Most impoprtantly is not for commercial sale or commercial quantity

he directed me his boss.. a lady.. I insist also i am not parting with anything.. the other guys where giving out money only one stood also on his ground.. at the end.. he said take your bag and leave..

if you decide to part with any money.. you can give 1000 or 1500 naira.. I will not advise this as it is relly bad for our county nigeria

Some trick for your palm oil

put in your hand luggage initially until after you are through with customs checking baggage

After that take your luggage down to your check in spot and out it back in. Make sure to tie it with black sack so its not transparent

Going for boarding...

You dont need yello fever vaccination
you dont have to show physical money as BTA or whatever
You dont have to give bribe..
Dont smile casually at them else they will politely as for money
your admission letter should be handy including your DB confirmation of funding

If you are travelling with Royal Air Marroc - Try to be at the airport as late as possible the previous day..

You can sleep in the airport..

What you will need in Germany

Make sure you have at least 8 copies of your passport photograph it will suffice in enrolment or other stuff.. its expensive to take one here
I got 15 copies for 400 naira in Nigeria. Thats less than 2 euros

You need a socket for your electrical appliances.. you will not find 3 pin socket here..only 2 pin tiny round socket points. if you have the usual two pin round plug then you don’t need a special socket converter

if you are going to live in a university hostel, make sure you come with a LAN cable and your computer LAN hardware is functioning. Most private apartment use WLAN..(wifi).. your computer should also be able to use this

If you can get BTA from the bank in Nigeria..and have enough money.. get as much as you can..this caan be useful if you need to fund your account again especially if you can not make it up by doing other jobs. Another reason is our Nigerian bank use different rate on their atm.. it also comes with some charges

You also need a nice socks.. one thats can absorbs heat..

You also need nice shoes.. not flat soul shoe.. Special shoes for winter. You can get OK shoes also at yaba market.. just close to the train track.. ask anyone.

winter jacket...with head cover to protect your ears

come with some nice oily cream.. its so freaking dry here - you can buy here though..but remember some soap here is written cream and you fit dey rub soap thinking its a cream..lol,,my first experience in 2013

you may also buy some nice pens.. na 20naira for naija..lol or go to one euro shop in Germany for writing materials and note

Don forget condom.. its expensive here - i no say some of una don dey reason different matter.. who knows.. Cold too much here also

what else.. guys i don tire to write

Anyone close to Paderborn..cities like Hagen, Dortmund, Düsseldorf..Koln.. send me your email or pm.

from next week na hussle preparation..

All the best guys and wishing all visa hopefuls will receive their manifestation as soon as possible

Boss there is no need to freeze it. I did not. Use eva bottle and leave some space. no fill am completely. The reason is the container may compress. I carry two small eva bottle of oil. Make sure the cover is tight.. then rap it with nylon.. and put in-between cloths

Then you are good to go.

Its hard to find nice palm oil in Germany. Even if you find and can buy it... it does not taste well

Was really busy this last weeks getting wedded to my princess and haven't had even a second for my phones. Just got back from my honey moon yesterday and decide to start the calling and mailing today to know howfr my visa.
Opening my mail I didn't know how I fling the laptop and raised my wife up.
The long awaited mail waiting for me from the embassy.
Thanks to God almighty, my wife and all my e-family cause without you, this won't be a reality. Cottbus and oldenburg which one make sense to hustle? I have not decided yet

Imagine!!!! I was very nervous at the german embassy today that I was given a test to write. A masters student for that matter. Anyways, I have been nervous since about 5 days now, thinking too much about a lot of things and even money to fund d blocked account. Everything just jam , d person wey wan lend me the money talk say the money wey him dey expect neva show. Imagine!!! and my enrolment deadline na 9th of october, why I no go worry na!!! I'm been feeling so weak and down cos I already resigned from my place of work, wetin I go do naw!!! The german woman even say my aim is not clear enough, she asked me some questions which I answered but she wasn't pleased with the answers and she also asked some which I don't know , to be candid!!! Everything just tire me but I know say, their is an end but my expectation shall not be cut short in Jesus name, amen. At this point I hands up, #Jesustakethewheel

Bros PLEASE CHEER UP! The test thing was actually in your favour because even if your interview didn't go well, God gave you another opportunity by making you write the test! I had my interview yesterday M. Sc I was also given a test to write and guess what..... I got a mail to fund my account less than 3hrs after I left the embassy! In fact I was still at the car park waiting to board a bus back home. Its all about God's grace and favour. Just speak to him. Like a loving and caring father that he is, he WILL NOT let you down.

I arrived Hamburg, Germany yesterday. Special thanks to God for journey mercies, and a big thank you to danniemore for picking me from the airport, and seeing me safely to my room. God bless you, bro.

First things first, please don't put your palm oil inside your garri o, because those customs guys will check your garri to see if it's really garri. For the palm oil, pour it inside one or two small eva bottles, and tie them in a black nylon. This was the way I packed my own, and I had no issues. I did not freeze it. I did not put it inside my garri. No need to pack vegetable oil or rice, they have that here.

Secondly, please buy your European adapter when you're coming, it's like 5 Euros a pop here, and also bring an extension. Also, don't forget your LAN cable. If you want to share your LAN internet with your devices, try and get a router, or get the full copy of the "connectify" software - which is eventually a cheaper alternative. it is VERY important that you come with all your certificates! Every certificate you used for your visa aplication plus any other one you have. Come with them all.

Thirdly, I used a one-way ticket on Turkish Airlines, and had no issues passing immigration. No one asked me any questions. Just compose yourself well, keep a straight face, and you will be alright. My hand luggage was not weighed, neither was my laptop bag. But do carry what you can walk around with if you have a stop-over, and carry bags that don't look suspiciously big. Also, try to do your online check-in before your flight so you can select you seat, and print your boarding pass (though they will give you the real one at the airport, it helps save unnecessary explanation to the airline attendants, and shows this is not your first time flying, even if it is). Walk up to the airline attendants and present your printed boarding pass.

Lastly, pack clothes that can keep you warm o, the cold here na die. I wan freeze for night, I no know when I wear like three cloth plus jacket, come hide under blanket. Even with that, I still dey do change-your-style for bed. Pack jeans, thick socks, winter jacket(s), head-warmer, black t-shirts to wear under your shirt. See ehn, carry cream o.

Tip: for effective packing, roll your carefully folded clothes, and place them side by side in a row or column formation. Pack underwear last because you can tuck them into corners and small spaces.

What else I wan talk o... Yeah, please if you're coming to, or in, Hamburg, do like this /O or send a PM. Also, to those who will be coming to Hamburg for summer or winter next year, help will always be here. Just holla at me.

To all visa hopefuls, those who recently had their interviews, and those yet to do their interviews, I wish you all the very best, and God's grace. May you all receive good news. To those traveling soon, I wish you Journey mercies. And to those hoping for a miracle, I say have faith, God works in mysterious ways, and he will never leave nor forsake you. To whose who recently got approval e-mails, I say congratulations, go and succeed.

God bless us all. One love.
