A Customer of GTBank shares his terrible experience with us at Sharegist, he narrated his experience and also sent us a mail to help make public.

He was bitter while taking to us, he also said for four working days without weekend, he could access his funds, he said he went broke that with the situation in the country he could get quick loan from friends because it was an emergency worth N400, 000.

We have been hearing several touching terrible story about GTBank but this customer who is a friend of us (sharegist) story got our attention and we feel we should share and also get other terrible experiences from other GTBank users.

Below is the Customers Story, he said

I had restrictions on my Account Yesterday 17/09/2015, I was unable to transact with my Account at GTBank Egbeda Branch. I was asked to update my Account with my BVN which I had done via my Online Banking platform. I summoned myself again to update my account with my BVN which I registered at first with Access Bank.

While I filled the form to link my BVN with my GTBank Account, I was told that my DOB, 09/02/1989 on the system doesn’t tally with what I filled on BVN Linker Form, 02/09/1989.

Because I couldn’t withstand all this mess, I left GTBank Egbeda Branch for my Originated Branch, GTBank Bode Thomas, on getting there, I explained myself to the customer Service Agent I met on Desk, I told her about the restriction and DOB conflict. She brought out my file, she checked the DOB and told me that what was in my profile is quite different from what was on the system, so she changed it immediately – which means the input filled into the system was wrong from what I filled in Application form many years ago. (It is not my fault)

I was also told at Bode Thomas Branch by the same Customer Service Agent that as things were, I can not operate my Account I have been operating byself without my Dad’s consent, that this time before I can operate my Savings, Current or Dom Account I need my Dad to counter sign. This came into play because I opened my First Account with GTBank as SMart Kid Savings (SKS) Account.

So I left Surulere, Bode Thomas for Sango Ota because my Dad lives there, getting to Sango where my Dad lives, we went to the closed=st branch, we couldn’t make it to the Sango Branch because I got to Sango late. What surprises me is that when I first opened my account, Yes, my Dad signed because I was below 18 years and immediately after 18 years, I went to the Bank for an upgrade to a savings account. Over time I added a current and dom account without my Dad’s consent

I have been running this account with GTBank for over 10 years, when I moved from SKS Account, I have been operating my account independently without Dad’s consent, surprisingly when I wanted to make a withdrawal from my Dom Account, I was told I need my Dad to sign. But I do not know why GTBank moved the mandate on a SKS Account to Savings, Current and Dom.

All good, I took my Dad to GTBank Sango e-Branch on 18/09/2015 to get him unscribe as a signatory to my Account (SKS), which he wrote a letter immediately and he aslo requested that all SKS Account tied to my Name to be closed and also that he doesn’t want to be a signatory to any Account belonging to me with GTBank.

I filled a form again to link BVN with GTBank at Sango E-Branch.

I thought that was it but the following working day which happens to be Monday 21/09/2015, I went to the bank to make a withdrawal, surprisingly, I was unable to make use of my account from the branch I went to, so I left for my branch again at Bode Thomas, Surulere from Egbeda, getting there I requested to close my account just because I needed cash but my account officer spoke me out of it and promised if I filled and update my profile form again I will be able to use my account the following day, I adhered.

So the following day which happens to be Tuesday, 22/09/2015, I purposely went late to the Bank to give more time in other not to be told something otherwise, I got to the bank around 3pm, on getting to the closest GTbank Branch to me, Egbeda, I was also told I can’t operate my account which I have no idea of what the problem is, because I was late, I couldn’t move down to Bode Thomas, Surulere.

Tomorrow is another day. Tomorrow makes it day 5.

I thought I should share to that you can prepare yourself for worst things with GTBank, I know what I am saying, please note, like I said I have been banking with GTBank for over 10 years, for me to take my time to write all this, you should have an idea that something has really gone bad.

I am pained to have Banked with GTBank, I was told by friend that GTBank is never reliable but now I see reasons with them now.

Try as much as possible not to be a victim of GTBank, because if it was a matter of life and death, am very sure I should be looking for Money to buy Casket now.

Please if you have any ugly experience with the bank you are banking with please share with info@sharegist.com they are willing to air your thought and views.

I didn't read the whole gist ,

BUT EVERY PROBLEM CAN BE RESOLVED IF YOU CHANNEL YOUR COMPLAIN THROUGH THE RIGHT CHANNELS .

Go back and demand politely from the Bm or Csm that you want your complain resolved and it would .

Have a nice day .

You think with your legs or what?
How politely do u expect op to go abt the case.
It seems u are Gtbank agent?
Can u imagine the trauma the op has gone tru on top of his/her money.
Gtbank has become something else.

My was that they charge me for withdrawing from dorm account whereby they stated that they don't charge on withdrawal.

Do you even think at all?

If he doesn't do it politely they can easily arrest him for disturbing the peace and embarrass him by whisking him out with armed mobile police men and they would be right. I have worked in a bank ( not gtbank) for more than 4yrs now and I can authoritatively tell you from experience that most times when a culprit creates unnecessary disturbance, he does it to distract the crowd so some funny practices like theft and other related vices can occur.

His best chance is still to politely take up his case to the manager and demand that his case be resolved before he leaves the bank that very day.

Violence has never been the answer. Sometimes when you present your case in a constructive manner, the other party, who is well read would reason rationally with you and as such he or she would then be able to provide a positive solution to your problem.
