I like it bro, but some people are talking about contributing to assist him
I think you've a valid point there. sending condolences to a bereaved is enough a way of commiserating with him.

In as much as I'm not opposed to the idea of voluntarily contributing for him as a show of our solidarity during this trying times. My metaphorical stance of sitting on a very tall iroko is aimed at having a clearer view of the whole situation.

Whichever way the pendulum swings, I go with the swing. But nobody should castigate you for stating your personal opinion. Afterall, the great Aristotle once opined 'Where all thinks alike, then none thinks at all...'

Thank you my sis for the other day. I located it wt ease. D interview is written(waec, obj n theory) n oral. During d oral, they agreed to offer accommodation @7k/month. I overheard d principal telling d chairman that I fall into d class of 60k.
They noticed from my CV dt m still working. chairman asked how soon will I quit my present job to join them? I answered based on the rule of my engagement, I will need to give a-month notice(if I don't follow due process I may forfeit my benefits such as my money in pension). I saw the countenance, they felt displeased. They regretted not conducting d interview earlier(as that wl gv me enough room to resign) , cos they said d advert was placed in July.

Hello here. please why is everybody shouting because someone lost his dad? What have you done for the children of those people that died in your street? how many time have you contribute to help a vulnerable child? what about those double orphans children? take a moment to think about the widow? What about those that don't have anything to eat around you?
This is one of the reasons I don't care when a popular person dies. The question I ask people is this, Do you know how many Teachers that die daily? Traders, drivers, farmers, fishermen, etc.
Am not here to antagonise anybody, but I think the best we can give is our condolence messages.
May GoldenDR Dad rest in peace.

Smh. Is it a crime to commiserate with someone in a time like this?

Nobody has said anyone should contribute anything and we are not reaching out to him because he is GoldenDr. It can happen to anyone.

You can kill your parent and see if we won't reach out to you inasmuch we are aware.

People die everyday, yes no big deal, but we are already acquainted with the person in question. That's why the condolence messages keep coming in.

Sir, I'm neither a critic nor a cynic who would allude ugly connotations to a person's assertion. While you may not really be pleased with how he has presented his points, but again, it's his personal opinion.

I don't want to believe you're trying to give his dog a bad name in order to hang it. Else, you would have seen the point he was trying to raise. He was just stating his opinion that condolence alone is enough a way of commiserating with a bereaved. And that the idea of contributing anything to a bereaved(according to him) doesn't amount to anything at all.

Now, see why I'm 50% in support of his opinion; At a certain time in my Univ days, I lost my mum. My colleagues at the department volunteered to contribute for me but I declined. I queried the motive behind such contribution and the purpose it's going to serve. I bluntly told them that 'RIP is just enough'. And that whoever wishes to commiserate any further may attend her burial in Lagos. Funny enough, they diverted the money into hiring a bus which conveyed them down to Lagos.

Interestingly, I was so elated to see them in Lagos. My own canopy would have been so scanty if not for them. Apart from coming to sympathise with me, they held my street to a standstill with their 'Kegite' display such that everybody was impressed. The Visiting Prof of this thread(Ravensckar) was even part of those 'Awo boys' that entertained the audience with their 'Aroism'.

If only that day's colourful display could bring back my mum cry

The point I'm trying to make is that, there are many ways through which one can sympathise with a bereaved;
1- Contributing money to help ease the burden of any burial expenses.
2- Being physically present at the burial as a way of sharing in the person's pain.
3- Just sending a condolence message.

Although, each and every one has it's advantages and disadvantages. So, if someone is of the opinion that 'condolence message alone is enough'. I don't think the person should be crucified. That one is not satisfied with the way and manner he has said it, that's just like attempting to give a dog a bad name in order to hang it. #MyHumbleOpinion#
