I hope Nigerians will one day wake up, they even claimed that countries that brought religion to africa do not understand it as much as Africans do. it a pity, for how long will we continue live in fear of hell fire ? |

CARLOSZ: This post is very educating and insightful.Unfortunately from the responses it shows that 95% of Nigerians that use public transport will rather rely on the blood of Jesus than actually seek empirical ways to have safe travels. We are hypocrites in Nigeria and our religious beliefs goes hand in hand with evil. The OP has provided an intervention idea which can be adopted by FRSC. 1 Like |

Any thing that touches on religion or faith, we nor dey gree That we pray and cover ourselves with the blood of Jesus before leaving our house for a journey does not mean we shouldn't check the road worthiness of the vehicle and the driver. I think it has less to do with our spirituality than our lack of safety consciousness as a people. PS: It would have made more sense if the OP didn't paint the article red with the blood of Jesus, or at least balanced it with the Muslim aspect; now the message of the post would be lost in religious bigoted comments 1 Like |

Bobbysworld28: The man believes the blood of Jesus works for him you are disputing it instead of finding and holding to what you too believe can work for you! Nothing can redeem a failed system unless the right step is taken. You must pay your tax and hold your leaders responsible for failure of your society OP tried to mix two things that are different and he got it totally wrong. He condemned faith for negligence of the government. Probably he is learning. 1 Like |

I'm currently driving in Nigeria and I am just amazed about how Nigerian passengers sit smuggly behind certifiable insane Okada riders as they weave and dodge between other vehicles and up to and including heavily overweight semi trailers. I actually had one fat sow caution me as I was cut off by her definitely mad Okada rider that do I want to kill someone? This overweight behemoth (still don't know what those motorcycle frames are made off that they don't crack under the wight of 4 grown Men) did not care to understand that her life was being put in danger. Same thing goes to those small deathtrap buses (Hiaces), I watched one on Lagos Ibadan expressway just continuously drive recklessly and both front passengers were just sitting there in a trance and not engaging the driver. Me I would have faked needing to urinate and disembarked right away. 1 Like |

Joniboi:the worst comment i have read on this platform.....have you not heard where a good fixed car and a coolheaded driver involved in an accident? there are some unnatural things that happen....inviting God in whatever we are doing is not bad, devil is roaming about seeking for who to devour, how do one escape bn devoured, its by prayer and dedication.....or i guess you don't open your bible. the op is correct in the proper check of vehicles and drivers but on the part of God, he is wrong. i once heard a girl confessed that her evil mission is to visit a park, pretends she's travelling then go round the vehicles 3 times stylishly not to be noticed and leave the park, and the vehicle she succeed in must have accident on the road EXCEPT there's a prayer before the vehicle moves or prayer inside the vehicle....some of the people praying for passengers are real while some are just there for the money (offering) 2 Likes 1 Share |

we need sensitizations both as passengers and drivers. I am of the opinion that 95% of accidents can be avoided when we do a routine check everyday before we leave our houses, maintain an acceptable speed limit and know the rules guiding road usage to mention but a few. Knowledge is power. A friend was ones driving a 50 something seater bus, then the back tire exploded. Few of us would leave the wheel and go for our safest option which is 'shouting blood of Jesus' because the back of the vehicle started swinging from left to right but what did he do?? On a different day and situation, his procedure might not work but he simply took he legs off the pedals, put the car on neutral, held on tightly to the wheels and stirred the car till it was moving slow enough to be braked. Twasnt rocket science or an act performed by angel gabriel himself, twas just someone that understood driving a little. Once saw a guy too that survived an accident, he said his car failed brake, and the first thing he did was to turn of the ignition. Dont know if thats right, but the little i know, if you switch of your car, the steering locks and thats you reducing your chances of survival. People need to educate us so the blood of Jesus could rest a bit. LOL cc the government, PMB, FRSC, anyone 1 Like |

orbitalgis:Yes thank you, I will rather rely on blood of Jesus than technology. Even a brand new motor car tumble. Technology will stop trailer from falling on traveling car or it will save you from death traps that we call port holes. Abeg make I stay will the precious blood. And you should rely on man made technology 2 Likes |

superior1: Thank you. OP should tell us how many times he has asked about the driver's fitness and vehicle's road worthiness before entering a bus. Even a brand new bus can have a brake failure. Precaution is good, but there is still power in the name of Jesus Christ. 1 Like |

OP, while I agree with you that checks should be carried out by the concerned authorities, I disagree with you on your blanket condemnation of prayers for safety while on the road. Moreso, I have not come across any one of that says if you donate money to him, road accidents will be averted. Just like Prov 3:5 says you should not lean on your own understanding, do the needful and ask God to take over. Remember the Titanic. |

We need God in everything we do. We Christians believe in the blood of Jesus and it works wonders. No matter how perfect d system and technology could be, we still need to apply our faith. I have faith in the blood of Jesus and it's working for me. I agree with doing things right but crowning all effort with the blood of Jesus is best for us that believe in it. Perfect system and technology have failed many times. Only Jesus doesn't fail. He is who I believe. 1 Like 2 Shares |

midehi2:In as much as i tried not to comment on this topic, your post made me to. So you mean those people that die everyday didn't pray before they embarked on the bus/vehicle they died in? Inviting God into your everyday life and activities isn't a bad idea at all but that must have been after you have made necessary checks and sadly that also isn't a guaranty that you wont have an accident because the roads are very bad. Just like the OP said, The government need to look into various aspects of the transportation system and make adequate corrections to ensure safe and enjoyable trip to commuters. |

Rexyl:D mind believes whatever it wants to believe. The blood of Jesus cannot save u from accident, simples. Let us perform an experiment: disconnect d breaks from ur car and go driving on d expressway. Feel free to drive at 140km/h and then use d blood of Jesus as ur breaking system. Op is totally right and just a little common sense will remove d senseless carnage on our highways 2 Likes |

Post of the year as far as I am concerned. We are too fanatical and thus cloud out objectivity, but then I usually ask"Does it mean that those involved in ghastly accidents never prayed or their faith was not enough to save them? The time we begin to understand that Jesus' shed blood is not a magic liquid but basically for our sins to forgiven when we sincerely repent and have the prospect of salvation even at death, then we will be able to take the necessary precautions each time we embark on journey's and not sorely depend on miracles all the time. 2 Likes |
