even though Rooney scored today, he needs time on the bench. Mata is preffered behind the striker but has been nicking goals playing on the RW, we just need to slot in Herrera behind the striker we would have a fluid and deadly attack.

Mata moved to behind the hole and Rooney benched through out the season.

Mata played in the hole against PSV and dat was his poorest game so far. Leave Mata on the wings. And play Herrera in the hole instead. With Schneiderlin and Carrick/Bastian to cover.

Its a shame! Herrera is the one suffering for Rooneys status as a captain that must play. Mata has been shunted to the RW just to accommodate him. It annoying because he does not put in the performances of a player that is worth the sacrifices or change.

Depay also needs his ears pulled and s real talking to, he needs to make quick decisions in the final third, but I believe he will come good.

Martial is a very good buy, I must confess.

Everyone did their jobs fairly well today.

Its was Sunderland though!

Man United really played 2geda as a team today thanks to Mata the man of the match, an assist and a goal....

We might have won, but our attack still lacks urgency and i'm not happy with it.

They even credit someone who pushed him instead of praising his body balancing to hold firmly. Everyone saw how he balanced well and hit with his knee even though he was badly pushed.

[b]Good to see Rooney scored his first 'accepted goal' because he has scored before. Rooney now has 5 goals overall this season and he could hit 30 if he stays fit. He has 80% of his fitness back. It was always a matter of time. Same with many big players who had a slow start.

Rooney makes our attack matured. Gave us so much option with lots of forward play today. With his rediscovery of his pacing forward with the ball, we now have a front with three men who could burst forward some yards in the final third. With his performance midweek and today, he has wholy claimed the number 10 position for the rest of the season. I am not talking of the goal but his overall play.

Valencia is our unsong hero.

Good game from Martial. Memphis decision making needs to improve. Ashley Young had a good day.

Good to see Phil Jones. The first time this season I saw a United player won an aerial duel so neatly even though it was 60-40 in favour of the opponent. He has quick passes to complement. He doesn't need a touch of the ball to make a pass, even if it's a long pass.

Lest I forget, Chelsea fans can rejoice. Hazard's form is almost fully back. He ran the show today. Sanchez was a beast.

We hit 7 shots on target today. 12 shots overall. 8 chances created. 3 unreplied goals.

This is the kind of stats you get when Rooney is hitting form and going into his element. I pray he avoids injuries because I know Rooney will do us proud.

We absolutely need to up our sharpness in attack for the next 3 games. Defence will also face their first real test.

WAYNE ROONEY: MEMPHIS'S GOAL WAS MASSIVE

Wayne Rooney believes Memphis’s first Barclays Premier League goal - scored on the stroke of half-time - ‘was massive’ in helping Manchester United secure all three points in Saturday’s 3-0 win against Sunderland.

Rooney doubled the lead by opening his league account for 2015/16 just after the break before Juan Mata drilled home in injury time to seal the victory as the Reds moved to the top of the table.

However, the captain admitted that United found the first half difficult, telling MUTV: “It was tough. We knew that from last season and Newcastle earlier in the season; they make it difficult, put bodies behind the ball and defend with their lives. They're trying to stay in the league.

“Memphis's goal before half-time was a massive goal for us,” added Rooney. “If we didn’t get that, Sunderland had something to fight for and something to hold on to. It gave us a little bit more space in the second half and we played some good stuff and created some chances. In the end it was quite comfortable and a good win.”

Rooney knocked home Anthony Martial’s cross in the first minute of the second half to score in England's top flight for the first time this season. “I wasn’t worried. It’s my fifth goal of the season for United and I’ve scored for England so it was just about getting off the mark in the league. Hopefully everyone will concentrate on me playing my football now and I’ll enjoy it.”

The captain was also full of praise for his provider after Martial's ‘incredible’ start to life at United. “He’s been incredible. He’s a young lad, we have to remember that. United went top for the first time under Louis van Gaal and Rooney said: “That’s what we’re all playing for, being number one at the end of the season, and it’s nice to be there now. But there’s a long way to go, it’s still early days and we have to keep working hard to make sure we can stay there or finish there at the end of the season.”
