Secession Not In Igbo’s Interest, Ohanaeze Tells MASSOB by Stephansmily(f): 3:17am On Sep 27, 2015
The youth wing of the apex Igbo socio- cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has told the leadership of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra that seceding from Nigeria, as being agitated by the group, would not be in the interest of the Igbo.
The National President of Ohanaeze Youth Council, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro stated this on Saturday during a press conference in Umuahia, Abia State, to unveil plans for this year’s Igbo Youths Day slated for Monday in Umuahia. According to him, it is better for Ndigbo to remain in Nigeria and struggle for their fair share of the ‘national cake’ than fight for self-determination with its attendant consequences. He said, “ It is better we remain in Nigeria and fight for our rights than secede. We have been patient enough and in 2019, it will be our turn to produce a Nigerian President. It will take a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction to heal the wounds of Biafra.”
He called on the Federal Government to unconditionally release all members of MASSOB and other Biafran activists detained in various prisons across the country. Isiguzoro also appealed to the Federal Government to address what he described as injustices against Ndigbo in the country, which he said were the major reason for the agitation for self-rule by MASSOB and other pro- Biafran groups.
He further argued that it defied logic for members of MASSOB who are non-violent to continue to be held illegally for years in detention, ‘‘while the same government is busy releasing captured members of violent groups like Boko Haram and Niger Delta militants who have taken up arms against the state.”
“Since the Federal Government is secretly negotiating with Boko Haram terrorists, why can’t it also negotiate with MASSOB, which is non-violent? Since it is releasing some Boko Haram fighters, it should also consider MASSOB members detained illegally in prisons.” The OYC helmsman however declared support for the anti- corruption war of President Muhammadu Buhari, arguing that those responsible for the woes of Nigeria should be brought to book. He also said the Igbo Youths Day would be used to sensitise Igbo governors on the urgent need to invest in agriculture for youth empowerment. Speaking earlier, Chairman of the organising committee and National Vice-Treasurer of OYC, Dr. Lawrence Dozie, said the theme of this year’s celebration is “Ndigbo: The Challenges of our Youths.”

Ohanaeze Ndigbo is a socio- cultural organisation and doesn't in anyway represent 'Ndigbo'. All we know is Biafra and Ohanaeze is working with its own agenda and not for Ndigbo.

Disregard all information from Ohanaeze as the group represent its own interest and not Biafra. Biafra is not an Igbo thing and can't not be represented by Ohanaeze Ndigbo, a social cultural organisation.

Obago!!! What Mazi Okechukwu is saying now is what I have stated over and over here.

I told those miscreants that their quest for a Caveland in Ala Igbo is a conjecture of a minority few (old men whose only shot at relevance is lame war tales and some few youths who have no ideas what happening during the last civil war).

What we want is the development and empowerment of the South East. Those who want war and destruction of the East can join Nnamdi Kanu in London.

What do they really want? Today it's noise about seccesion, tomorrow it's appealing to the president to appoint more igbos to his cabinet, day after, it's about igbo presidency!

I think those agitating for biafra are those who seems to be hopeless and helpless about their present situation in their daily struggles which is not peculiar to an Igbo man alone, with the fantasy that biafra is a land flowing with milk and honey that will eventually better his lots.
No reasonable Igbo man who has investment and business interests that will be craving for the unknown.
I know a lot of Igbo guys who have hotels, showrooms, warehouses, apartment buildings etc scattered around amuwo odofin and are still investing, these guy will not be willing to champion a course that will probably ruin their investment and life's struggles.

There is nothing like Igbo man. Igbo are cursed. I am an Igbo speaking Biafran. Igbo is not a tribe, it is a language. By the way, way has the so called ohaneze ndi eau na aturu na ego done to protect the so called igbo interest? When did they do anything that will bring easterner from all walks of life and far and wide in one place for brotherhood to be experienced? So they are all speaking for themselves, not for we Biafrans, are they not the same ones that went to Buhari for appointments? They are talking about national cake, so what they mean is that we should reduce ourselves to mere beggars and thieves and share the cake and not to do something about producing the cake, when all these baboons on this forum read (of course critical thinking is beyond the ability of any monkey or baboon) between the lines, is it not this same cake shearing that we are fighting against? is it not this cake shearing that put This zoo in this condition? Bunch of lazy people. Tufia for black man. We are doomed to failure, National cake my foot.

Rubbish as usual from a black man ( who willfully threw away his thinking cap) How much do you think that is used to run Radio Biafra and it is being broadcast on almost every platform available namely satellite, short wave, AM, online and the TV also, without any advertisements, the money used in running Radio Biafra does not come from Mr. Kanu, rather it comes from all these people you mentioned, so stop fooling your selves, they are the same people who sponsor his missionary journeys, so what exactly are you talking about.
