The 'child bride' appendage is incorrect. An 18 year old woman is not a child. She is an Adult female. In Nigeria she can legally do the following:-

-Vote and voted for(the latter under special circumstances)
-Get a drivers license
-Be employed in a government agency
-Earn minimum wage
-Set up a company under CAC
-travel outside the Nigerian borders unhindered
-Be a legal guardian to someone else
-engage in consensual sexual intercourse(pertinent to the matter). among other rights.

So;
1) The marriage is valid under civil law.
2) Its not like she is a sitting duck in the marriage, she is can seek legal recourse if things go south.
