Hello House, iv been following this forum for a long while now, iv just been observing and learning from you all. After alot of research i am ready to invest in Tbills smiley. However i reside out of the country. I spoke to my account manager about purchasing Tbills, and he said all i need to do is email him a letter of authorisation and he will forward it to the bank manager. On TB 91 days is what %= 1/4 of stated %
182 days is what % = 1/2 of stated %
364 days is what %= complete stated %

When they say 13.85%, it refers the to the % accruable upon maturity on a 364 day period just like in fix dep.

What is the best way to invest 10m gotten from property sales?
To buy 2020 bond and use the proceeds to be buying treasury bills.
or be buying treasury bills yearly with the money.
or buy bond of 6m and be buying tbills with 4m and the returns from the bond.
Whats the best way to go about this.?

what is your investment horizon?

what if you invest in Tbills and by the end of one year, the rates have crashed? and you now have a bigger reinvestment risk to deal with..

we need to understand your plans for the future and how much risk you are willing to take

This fund will be set aside for atleast 5yrs and part of interest will be used to expand already existing bizness.

Since the owner is not sure of a business to invest such huge sum into without much risk .

He rather invest some of the proceeds than the huge sum.

He also considers the possibility that the value of the 10m might depreciate in 5yrs, hence the need to reinvest the proceeds. So that by the time the money is out in 5yrs, he will have extra to add to makeup for the depreciation.

I Heard the interest on bond is up to 15% and and it will be consistent. But with tbills after the the one year you cant tell if the interest will be the same or lower/higher.

Yes. Just that I rather invest in real estate for long term than investing in bond for long term.
But, that doesn't mean that bond is not save or good investment, but that's just my preference.

Hope you understand what I mean? Not trying to discourage you dear.

What happened yesterday?

LAGOS, Sept 29 (Reuters) - Nigeria's central bank sold 53.08 billion naira ($266.6 million)worth of treasury bills on Tuesday in a bid to mop up excess liquidity, dealers said, as the currency weakened on stronger demand from importers.

The bank issued the 275-day open market operations (OMO) bills at 13.50 percent, they said.

Plans by the Ogun State government to privatize water through a Public Private Partnership ( PPP ) model promoted by the World Bank is a recipe to enslave citizens of the state and generations yet born, an NGO and a trade union have warned .

According to the Environmental Rights Action / Friends of the Earth Nigeria ( ERA /FoEN) and the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service, Technical and Recreational Services
Employees ( AUPCTRE ) , no consultation was made ; neither was there input from civil society and the labour unions in all the stages that got the bill to the table of Governor Ibikunle Amosun .

The bill , awaiting his assent is said to have speedily passed through the State House of Assembly on 13 May, 2015 .

The groups said the development in Ogun is similar to that of Lagos where intense local and international demands for disclosure in October 2014 forced the World Bank to open up on a water privatisation scheme , which centered on the appointment of its private arm, the International Finance Corporation ( IFC ) , to design a PPP water scheme .

“ The Lagos project , just like what is unfolding in Ogun State, is shrouded in utter secrecy , with no input from critical segments of the population that it will supposedly benefit from it . The bank had initially said it had no deal with the Lagos government but swiftly announced it had cancelled the IFC contract following global pressure . ”

In a reaction to the development in Ogun State, ERA / FoEN Deputy Director, Akinbode Oluwafemi, said : “ It is utterly disappointing that the Ogun State government is toeing the same path we have
observed and campaigned against in Lagos. We urge Governor Amosun not to sign away the sovereignty of the state residents by this anti - people initiative promoted by the World Bank . ”

Oluwafemi stressed that “ PPPs have a devastating track-record which include rate hikes , sporadic access, unsafe water, and infrastructure neglect. So, we are in solidarity with the Ogun people in rejecting this false solution to making a basic human right
accessible. ”

Ogun State Secretary of AUPCTRE , Baba tune Omotola said : “ the bewilderment of Ogun people is further heightened by the fact that the bill before the governor will worsen their plight having watched
for years how successive administrations have deliberately allowed public water infrastructure to collapse to pave the way for a loan arrangement which will place more burden on the residents . ”

He said while the Ogun State government is obligated to identify ways to ensure the rights of citizens to safe and potable drinking water , prioritising the human right to water above profit motives should be the driver of such a policy .

He added that “ we also demand a probe of all the loans so far sunk into water projects in Ogun State. ”

The groups urged the Ogun State government to halt the planned privatization and instead , integrate broad public participation in developing plans to achieve universal access to clean water including investing in the water infrastructure necessary to provide
universal water access, to sustain and create jobs , improve public health, and invigorate the Ogun economy.

Real estate is not a bad idea but u need to consider a lot of factors.
1. Do u like omo onile stress?
2. Do u hav d finances to complete d structure.

3. If u finally complete d structure, will d returns be worth it?
I knw someone who used about 1.5M to build a room- and parlor. Only for dem to be asking 60k per year.

1.5M on T-bill @ 13 percent will give u abt 180k.
