The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has rated the economy of Anambra as among the strongest in the country.

The  Branch Manager of the bank in Awka, Mr Okoro Azubuike, announced the rating in Awka on Thursday when he received the Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, who was on good governance tour of the state.

Azubuike said the deposit mobilisation on the state was third in the country behind Lagos and Kano, while it ranked fourth in terms of the presence of commercial and micro-finance banks.

He said the commercial cities of Onitsha and Nnewi were large and had made the state the commercial base of the South-east region.

In his remarks, Governor Peter Obi said the bank was crucial to the commercial activities of the state, adding that the government had resolved to fast track the construction of its permanent

Where did he compare cities?

He was only comparing states. I.e Oyo State and Anambra State and not Ibadan Vs Onitsha.

When it comes to state, it`s a different ball game entirely.

shut up!
it can be the village with the highest number of high rise huts in alaibo.
but stop generalising please.
go to minna and ask any local that where's Onitsha or nnewi and he will just be looking at you like an alien.
but the locals sure know Ibadan as the largest city in W/AFRICA & Lagos as the commercial nerve of Nigeria.
what's your villages known for?
the minna local is not a business man, the minna business men in Kasua Gwari have all bought their tickets at the New Tarzan Motors en route Onitsha to purchase goods from the importers

Please do not talk like an illiterate?

Did you read the story?

Yemi Alade is from the National Bureau of statistics

Cashless? What is the meaning of that. Where on Earth or even the moon is that a measure of viability? can you provide one example.

They were chosen based on economic indicators?? What a stupid thing to say. You think you are talking to your village head?

Look please do not quote me anymore I do not have time for dunces and dullards. Go and secure your shop and count your money for today.

Cashless ko Ghana must go ni

WTF!!

Where do they make these people

Your first sign of illiteracy is that you can't read. .
The OP. Was talking about "Cities" and you went about analysing "states" Data that has nothing to do with the topic?
cash-less policy was based on states with the highest volume of cash transaction or is it that you can't comprehend?

What has revenue collection got to do with "cities"

And even if revenue is your basis, for your mind the amount of revenue a state collects is accurate representation of economic indicator

What happens to the ones whose citizens are not
mobilised enough to pay

So a state like Lagos is achieving 100% revenue collection when you have only 5% of population paying tax

After polluting the discuss with your inept data, now you don't want anyone to clean your mess by quoting you

As for" renting a shop", sorry am not a tribal bigot like you so I won't insult your tribe

It's not about states being economically viable but it's about cities
being economical viable. i.e Ibadan vs Nnewi or Nnewi vs Onitsha. So, if we go by cities, forget it, Ibadan surpass Aba, Nnewi and Onitsha when it comes to a city been economically viable.

Is it in terms of Medical tourism, Infractuctures and quality Education, Hospitality, Service economic, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Real Estate business, e.t.c Ibadan surpase those cities.

Dude, you are talking about trading, its not the same thing as the economy of the city/state. What about the service sector or the agricultural sector? Dey dere dey jones.

Do you have any idea of the amount of money made from agro-processing and the agro-allied companies and farms to be found in Ibadan?

Do you think its for no reason farm goods are cheaper in Ibadan than anywhere else in the southern region?

Besides, Ibadan has very large markets too.

Cities with strong industrial base have greater correspondence with economic viability
That is only if Ogun people own those industries.
